The ABS will kick in on it's own on the left front tire? I drive on the highway every day, and on an on-ramp, going approximately 40-50mph, making a wide right turn, the left front wheel will activate ABS on it's own. If I accelerate throught the whole turn, this does not happen. It is not wet outside, there's no visible liquid or oil on the pavement.
View 10 RepliesI am planning to take my 99 Passat into the dealership to have it looked into but I thought I'd come prepared with a little bit of insight into what could be causing this problem.
The left tire vibrates terribly when making a slight left turn. When making a hard left, the vibration goes away, when driving straight, there is no vibration. There is also no vibration when making a right hand turn at all. Could it be as easy as a bad tire or faulty balancing? It seems odd that it only makes the vibration when making the turn slightly and then goes away when turning completely left.
What could be causing the vibration? I've searched the forums but have not found an answer based on the vibration only occurring during part of the turn.
I've been having a lot of noise coming from the front left tire, and I finally had it diagnosed as a bad wheel bearing today.
I noticed that the front wheel bearings are sold individually while the rear wheel bearings are sold as hub assemblies. Is there a certain way that the front wheel bearings have to be removed and pressed on? I'm trying to see if this is a DIY repair.
My Hyundai Sonata Limited has 25,000 miles on it and is just 4 years old. The left front tire has a bubble in it. The dealer said it must be replaced ASAP. Is it okay to replace just the one tire or if it is important to replace both front tires or what's the right thing to do. All the tires are the originals that came with the car. Also, is there any warranty on the original tires?
View 19 RepliesI am getting a grinding sound from what sounds like the front-left tire of my car.The car is a 2006 Scion tC - manual transmission.
It gets worse as the tire speed increases (not the engine speed and irrelevantly of whether the car is in gear), and seems to get worse when I turn left. I relaced my tires about two months ago and it started a few weeks later and seems to be getting worse.
Happen 2 times this morning, making left turn. Left (inside) front tire spun out.
Granted there weren't enough grip (sand + LRR overinflated tire) but isn't ESP suppose to take over in situations like this?
Right Front Tire has excessive wear on Right INSIDE and car was pulling to the left. I rotated (or is it revolved?) my tires, and now the pulling has stopped......
OPINION: Bad tire that just wore poorly? Slight alignment issue that caused tire wear that then caused car pull? Wheel bearing issue causing tire wear? Or something else?
Not so simple as an unbalanced tire. Left front wheel/tire starts shaking at about 35 mph, worsens with increase in speed up to 52 mph then quits shaking. Some residual (though minor) vibration after that. Had tire balanced already at a good shop so I don't think that's it.
Struts are due for replacement - could that be part of the problem? I've had the thing on a lift and don't see anything indicative of a ball joint or an a-frame bushing, BUT, is it possible/probable that my problem is one or more of the latter problems combined beyond the tire issue?

A few days ago, I got new tires on the front. The tire pressure light came on the next day. The front left tire seemed to be losing air. I brought it to the tire place.. They could find no leaking anywhere, although the tire had lost 5 pounds of pressure. The mechanic said the leak could be due to the TPM sensor? (He said, when he was checking the air pressure, the core stuck? ) Can a faulty TPM sensor cause air to leak out of a tire??
If that TPM sensor is indeed broken -- is the Tire place responsible?? --because this seemed to break right when they put new tires on my car.
I got a few clunk noise from front left tire area. I think it happens when I turn my steering wheel to left almost max.
And then, turning back to straight(to right). then, "Clunk"!
Today I got the clunk when I made U-turn on a street. A month ago, I heard it when I parked with fully turned front tires.
I have a 2002 Nissan Xterra SE (Silver). I have just a couple miles over 200K on her too! recently, I have had a chirping noise coming from the front left tire. It chirps upon rotating, as well as when i turn the wheel to the left. I only hear the chirp at slower speeds. Also, the breaks have been starting to screech, not a lot, but occasionally. Do I have bad ball bearings? Need new brakes? Both? Or is there a chance a rock is stuck up in there? The chirp goes away when it's wet outside, like after a rain!

It increases volume and frequency with speed. There's no vibration or grinding. Brakes are good, and I just had the bearings replaced about 6 months ago.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2013 GS350 thats lowered on Tanabe Springs and 20s. It looks nice but the only problem i have is rubbing against the plastic (that what it sounds like) lining in the fender well. This only happens when I make a quick left turn or U turn. The tire size is 245/35/20.
View 5 RepliesI got my tires rotated about 2 months ago on my 2003 Toyota Corolla. It had about 88k miles on it at that time. Since the moment I drove out of the shop, there has been a noise from my driver's side front tire. There is no vibration in the steering wheel or on the floor and the noise only happens when the car is in motion. The timing and sound of the noise made me think it was caused by uneven wear pattern on the tires. But it's been awhile since the rotation and the noise has not changed (neither increased nor decreased). The noise is most noticeable when I'm driving on certain road surfaces, like very smooth roads. Since the rotation, I'd be surprised if I've driven more than 500 miles max. What this could be?
View 6 RepliesI installed 2 new axles and replaced the upper motor mounts in my car. Now when I turn to the right the left front tire is running against the coilover and making my car vibrate. I put a 5mm spacer to give it some clearance but it didn't make much of a difference. What could be wrong?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 Ford Explorer V8 4 wheel drive. Yesterday I was on the way home from a 2 hour drive and was on the expressway at a complete stop on a downhill grade. When I hit the gas, the car started lurching - it would shoot forward, then slow down, then shoot forward, then slow down.
I got the car to the side of the road and called a tow truck. Just to test - while I was waiting for the truck I put the car in neutral and even though I was on a steep downhill grade, it wouldn't roll at all. When I put it in drive - it wouldn't go initially until I had to put a decent amount of pressure on the gas pedal. I reminded me a being at a speed bump that you couldn't idle over and have to give the car some gas to power it up over the bump.
When the tow truck got there - I watched the driver drive the Explorer up onto the bed of the tow truck. What I noticed was this:
The left front tire was completely locked when he was hitting the gas. But when he gave it enough gas, the right tire that was working would push the car forward while the left tire remained locked creating friction on the pavement but the car was still moving forward from the other wheel.
Then after 3 or 4 feet - the left tire would unlock/release and start to rotate - causing the car to suddenly lurch forward. But then after another few few it would lock again. Then release again.
The thing I found odd was that when the driver later reversed the car down off the truck - the left front wheel worked just fine. So the car works perfectly in reverse, but in drive the left wheel locks then releases then locks then releases.
I have a 2012 Ford Focus which infrequently makes an odd grinding, scratching sound by the front LEFT tire/ axle. It only does it when turning to the RIGHT. It usually does it as I'm coming out of the turn, not into the turn; so when the tire is moving back into the straight position. It's just the sound, you can very slightly feel it when it happens but really no stability or other steering issues. What is causing this sound?

Car checked out for a strange noise in my front left tire area, and I don't remember all the technical things they said (I'm definitely not a car guy), but I do remember them saying that my front subframe had rusted out and that I need to get another one ASAP, and that it's dangerous to drive my car at the moment. They said they could get another one for me.

Is this the right part that I need? Also, is there a list of vehicles that have parts that are compatible with my vehicle? I think certain years of the Pontiac Grand Am and Chevy Malibu are also compatible, so could I possibly search for a Front Subframe from these types of cars as well?

Sometimes (not always) when cornering to the left in a curve the ESP activates even on dry asphalt. A bit annoying.
What I have checked so far; tire pressure, no fault codes on abs sensors, wheel alignment just done (but didn't work). Abs, esp and awd works as normal...
This a 3.3L engine although the noise has nothing to do with the engine but front left near tire assembly, what can it be?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2010 Subaru Forester that looses pressure in the front left tire much more quickly than the other 3 tires. For example, I just filled up all 4 tires to 33PSI, and when I checked it a week or two later, the front left was at 26PSI, while the other 3 were still at 32-33PSI. In the past, the tire pressure light has come on because the front left tire managed to get as low as 16PSI, while the other 3 tires were still at ~26PSI. Is it possible to have a small leak that leaks a couple PSI per week?
