View 4 Replieshow to use the steptronic on the RC , it's going to shift by itself or i had to press the shifted pedal to bring up the gear , before i had a BMW so usually it autoshift on DS mode , what about the shifting on the RC.
View 5 RepliesI now have 1025 miles on my SE with the 2.4L. I will admit that I drove the car very easy during the first 800 miles. The car has always wanted to shift into higher gears way too quick even in normal mode. I was told that the computer may have been "trained" to be being a conservative driver. I am not a speed racer, but I do not drive like I have nowhere to go either. I have tried driving a little more aggressively (holding down the throttle and making it shift around 2500-3000 rpm when I can), but it still has not worked. When I make a certain turn and up a hill, the car chugs up the hill until it finally decides to downshift into a lower gear and it will finally go. If in sport mode, it does fine. I cannot leave in sport mode however because I do a lot of freeway driving and it will not shift into overdrive in sport mode, at least my car don't which I find odd??
Another problem area is when I first start out, I go up a grade on a highway. I have to literally press the pedal down about 3/4 way to even get it to speed (55 mph) within a reasonable amount of time... it was only around 2300-2500 rpm and I was almost flooring it. I pressed down the pedal more and it finally kicked into a lower gear and hit up to 3300 rpm and finally took off. Something is not right and I am not happy with my brand new car that I paid almost $19,000 for. I enjoy driving my 1991 Cadillac more than I do this new car and it is a heck of a lot faster than my Hyundai. I do love the MPG I get with the Hyundai... around 31 mpg on average versus 19 mpg on the Caddy.
I just don't know what is going on with my car. I am wondering if I need to get the computer reset or something?
I would prefer to drive my treg in sport mode on the air suspension because I find that I get slightly better cornering, etc. However, there are about 8 speed bumps in my normal "to gym and to work" morning drive and 5 on the way home. Some are the big wide new-style speed bumps. Some are the little narrow hard bumps. I usually leave the sus in comfort or auto because of this. Is it "bad" for the suspension to take speed bumps at a fairly good clip with the air suspension? Worse when it's tightened up for sport mode??
View 3 RepliesI already have sport Eibach springs and my shocks and struts are about to go, but this gives me an opportunity I can either go coilovers or all sport suspension. I want to go a little lower though than what its sitting at now, especially when I put my 18x8 wheels on. I definitely want to go static, air ride is too much. So I was wondering if I went with the blistein sport shocks and struts with the sprt eibach springs would it sit lower?
View 14 RepliesHow do I turn on the "Sport" mode in my 00 Passat GLX? Also, does this work only in Tiptronic mode, or does it work in Automatic mode as well?
View 3 RepliesI just traded in my 14 IS 350 for 13 GS 350. In my IS, while i'm driving at any speed and change mode from Normal to Sport, i can see the RPM change higher instantaneously. But in 13 GS 350, nothing happens in RPM gauge. Is the 6 and 8 transmission different here ?
View 14 Repliesanyway to set it up so it always starts in S or S+ mode so I don't have to always remember to do it.
View 8 RepliesIt's just the throttle response? Is steering or brakes enhanced or is it just me? I know the Is250 didn't get the suspension option like the IS350.
View 10 RepliesWhen driving in Sport Mode I have a violent down shift as the car slows and heads into second gear from third. It doesn't seem to matter if I am going 40 miles an hour around town or 70 miles an hour coming off the freeway. There has been a few times where the jerk is so hard that seatbelt tensioner tightens. Is this a normal aggressive function of the sport setting, or is this something else? Perhaps related to the transmission valve/hard second gear shift issue?
View 24 RepliesSo i noticed, when in auto mode, whether sport mode is on or off, it does the same thing. If i floor it from a stand still, the transmission takes noticeably longer to go from 1st into 2nd then from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, etc. 1st to 2nd takes like a good second, kinda like this:
1st VROOOOM.....................2nd VROOOM..3rd VROOOM..4th.....etc..
If I drive it in manual mode, then it shifts just as fast. So this only happens in auto.
I've owned my 2011 IS-F for a couple of month now. I know the Sport Mode give the car crisper throttle response and it shifts quicker. Does the Sport Mode do anything else?
View 14 Repliesi was just wondering if i can just drive around with my car in sport mode and not shift it?I just don't want to drive a around and mess anything up....
View 6 RepliesI noticed a ECO light pop up on the RX350 F Sport when driving.
What exactly does this mean? (ie. poor performance, not full pwer?)
Is there anyway to turn this off?
2016 IS300.
I've had it for 4 days now, and I've never had a brand new car so maybe this is a moot point. But the car simply feels heavy and sluggish. I'm at a little over 300 miles and the car just doesn't have much zip compared to my 2010 IS. Also, when I had the clear bra done at Lexus they gave me an identical loaner (2016 IS300 AWD) with around 800 miles and it felt totally different.
I remember with my 2010 reading that the car has to "learn" how you drive, etc. With my 2016 it'll go from a dead stop, them a couple of shifts in it drops to a super low gear. Even in sport mode it feels sluggish. In ECO mode... Well, lets just say that feels laughable.
Why was my loaner (which was identical to my new car) much zippier in the normal mode? Is this something I should be concerned about? The car runs fine, just no zip (yet).
This is my experience while test driving one that was traded back in very quickly. It had about 1000 miles on it. I've read some of the complaints about the transmission on the 2012 and how it's suffered for the sake of fuel economy. Yet some people are perfectly happy with their 2012's.
I remember seeing in the complaints that driving in sport mode made the Tiguan drive more like the previous model years. I have never owned a Tiguan but in this test drive regular "D" definitely felt better/smoother though a little underpowered at times.
Maybe I just don't know anything about sport mode but it was loud without any real pickup at certain points (I guess that's call hesitation). Is it supposed to be noisy and act this way?
I was trailing the other day in "sport" mode and the tranny kept going into 6th gear. Is the only way to lock out 6th is to use tiptronic mode?
View 6 RepliesI'm having a ton of fun driving in Sport transmission mode. One thing I'm noticing though is pretty rough downshifting from 3-2-1 sometimes. Often I hear and feel a clunk.
So I'm wondering if the transmission may not be adapted to me yet, since I've only had the car for 5 weeks, or could I be looking at an issue. No lights or warnings on the dash.
Also wondering if there is a way to "reset" the learning algorithm of the transmission without the VAGCOM?
I know that sport mode raises the rpm at which shifts occur, but it feels like this mode also makes the throttle response more sensitive. Though, this could be because Sport keeps the needle in the primo range of the power band.
And at the risk of turning this thread into another topic: Does race, either over revving at a light, or just being passes aggressively and stuff like that? This is somewhat geographically dependent. I am originally from PA and live here now and people try and race me all the time, or drive more agressively around me than I feel they otherwise would were in a less sick car.
Hear a vibration kind of noise coming from the engine when accelerating in 4-6 gear at a lower RPM? It ONLY seems to happen in sport mode with the soundakator on. Normal mode it doesn't. I thought maybe flutter but I'm not flooring it in low RPM/high gear... even just halfway throttle.
I should say I have a JB1 and K&N drop-in installed.
I just bought a 06 Passat 2.0T with tiptronic. What are the advantages using Tiptronic vs driving in standard mode??
