I need to order some touch-up paint for my 2014 platinum grey metallic SE. I'm told I need to find the paint code even though I know the name of the color. Where to find this on the car? Also, where to get touch-up paint? I know I can get it from the dealer, but perhaps it's less expensive elsewhere and/or better quality.

I have a gray metallic 2003 wagon.
My wife's 2015 IS350 F-Sport (only 6,000 miles on the odometer in the year she has owned it) is showing evidence of chipped paint above the deck lid reflectors. Our dealer and Lexus corporate are not wanting to play ball and fix the problem. We are convinced that it is caused by a vibration from the reflectors when the car is moving and when the deck lid is open and shut.
View 6 RepliesI never seen this before. Today I was driving on the freeway. I then heard a loud "pluck" noise as if a rock hit my car. When I got home, I saw this bulge popping out on my right passenger rear door. It looks like it's swollen.
It doesn't look like a rock hit the car though. Otherwise, it would have been a dent inwards with paint chipped. It's really close to the rear passenger door speaker too. I wonder if something in the speaker popped and made a bulge like that outwards.
Having problems with the paint chipping on the rear bumper? Dealer said on the phone paint is only covered if it rusts. Will bring it in tomorrow for them to check, but I'm not getting a good feeling that they will cover it. Car has only 3500 miles on it! Bumper shouldn't be chipping like this.

View 3 RepliesHad clear bra installed on my car. They had to redo the mirrors and the hood pieces because they didnt install the self healing film the first time. After the tech installed the second pieces I noticed an annoying whistling noise from the drivers mirror. I taped it off and even wedged a piece of thin plastic in the gap between the base of the mirror and the car to see if it would stop.
Anyway did a little research and found to my dismay that guys with the 4GS and 3IS are having the same issue when installing paint protection film on the drivers mirrors. As far as they know the remedy is to remove the film. I am assuming it has to do with the positioning or thickness of the film because it did not make any noise with the basic film installed and where it was installed.
I just went down to the garage and peeled it off, took it for a ride, and BOOM .....silence . Crazy that a thin film on the mirror could cause wind noise .
2009 Lariat. Paint peeling off front of dash on airbag cover, vin# says HW for the code what color is that. Can't figure out what HW means, it's either Camel Parchment or Medium Camel Interior don't want to waste money on the wrong vinyl paint.
View 2 RepliesToday I got out of class and noticed bubbles underneath my paint. I touched with my finger lightly and the paint flaked and came right off.
There is about a foot strip where the rear valance meets the chrome strip that this is happening too.
I know I need to get it repainted. But why would this happen, there were absolutely no accidents to this section of the car. I get a carwash about twice or three times a week. Could that be the cause.

During the first month or so after I got my '07 3.6, the car was accumulating damage at an alarming rate. It seemed like every time I looked it it, I found something new in the way of paint damage, and this in spite of the fact that it lives in a garage at my house and is completely safe there, isn't driven much, and is parked away from absolutely everything all the time (I'm nuts about that.) Much of the damage was in the form of paint chips - some in unusual areas, such as in the middle of the right A-pillar. And these chips were right through the paint to raw metal. I was wondering, "how can this possibly be?" Other stuff happened too - like long scratches the full length of the roof (not through the paint, however). I could never understand any of how this was happening, and it has since subsided. But that the time, I could only come up with two explanations:
1) the car is just a damage magnet. (I actually have a theory that some cars just are. My Touareg was not. Nothing EVER happened to it, and when I turned it in for the Passat this past spring with 30k, it was virtually flawless)
2) The new paint on the car had failed to harden properly (also hard to accept, but perhaps easier to accept than the damage magnet theory).
Over the past few months I have noticed a line running across the front of my hood where the paint is starting to come off. The rest of the hood is starting to look like the clear coat is coming off too. I wax it every few months. This is the only part of the car that is doing this.
I have looked around to see if there is a corrosion warranty or something and cant find anything. Is there anything I can do about it. 2003 VW Passat...
The wizards that painted the entire passenger side of my 2003 Passat have left me with a rear door that takes a few handle pumps to open, particularly when it has been a few minutes between tries. What is the cause of this? Is this a hinge issue or something else?

View 3 RepliesSo I got my Gas Tank Fix done a couple weeks back, and ever since (at least that I can remember) whenever the car turns on I get this 1-2 second wiff of a paint smell kinda....like something was freshly painted, then it goes away almost instantly.
Do you think something happened to my car at the dealer and they covered it up? Seems weird though, you'd think you'd be able to smell the paint more often.
I just bought a rav4 and I have 3 small places where the paint is chipped down to the primer. I have never had this problem with any of my other cars. Shouldn't this paint last more than a few weeks?

It just has this horrible yellow streak from the friction. I don't want to buy one of those electric car buffers (broke college student) so is there a way I can fix this by hand?
