I have a 2013 tdi. 40k miles. For the past few weeks iv been hearing a noise from the front. On small bumps or potholes or just going over a bumpy road its. Its like a rattle clunky sound. Going in my driveway I hear it too. I also noticed there is a squeak when i hit a medium to bigger hole. This is really annoying because this car is fairly new. Is the dealer gonna cover it if there is anything wrong?

View 10 RepliesMy front suspension squeaks very loudly when going over even the slightest of bumps. I've looked at similar threads and have noticed some people replace the entire control arm, some just replace control arm bushings, others change the strut mounts/bearings.
Am I better off replacing all 3 components (control arms, bushings, and strut mounts/bearings) or just doing CA bushings and/or strut mounts? Do control arms normally need to be replaced? Car has 90K miles, and is daily driven year around during the cold Minnesota winter. My knowledge of suspension components is limited.
after I had my springs installed I noticed this air sound when I go over bumbs. is this normal.? if I upgrade my shockts to aftermarket will they make the same sound?
View 9 RepliesMy wifes Passat wagon just got the 40k service and the dealer replaced the sway bar bushings in hopes of getting rid of some SQUEAKS that the car has made since we got it, it is lowered on h&r springs and bilstien shocks, however the sway bar bushings really didn't fix it, it seems to squeak when turning to the left and its definitely coming from the back.
View 7 RepliesI have had a bad squeak on the front passenger side suspension. It only happens while you are pulling into a driveway, going over a speed bump, or driving slow on a bumpy road. I brought my car to my mechanic and he thought it was the control arms that were shot. They were changed after forking over some cash. I noticed right away the handling was better due to the control arms which is said were shot. But... the squeak is still there, and has not become lower sounding at all. He said it might have something to do with the suspension but it is not worth it to change all the parts.
View 11 RepliesI was driving home today from work and everything seemed to be going well until I approached a bump a few blocks from my house. I was literally driving 3mph over the speed bump. When my read was coming down the speed bump I heard a loud metal clunk come from the rear. I tried looking underneath the car with a flashlight but no success. It's not a constant clunk. Only when I go over a speed bump and certain cracks or potholes in the street.

View 14 RepliesOk so I replaced my upper strut mount and my struts in the front along with the shocks in the rear.......... the squeak is still present when i go over a rougher bump and it is cold ..................SO i went on hma service and saw this...................
Symptom "Squeak or grunt-noise from the front suspension, occurs more in cold ambient temperatures-more noticeable over rough roads or when turning"
Suspect Area "Front stabilizer bar"
Remedy "Under these conditions, the noise is acceptable."

For some months, I've heard squeaking noise from passenger side suspension. Sound like it's from shock & spring on bump road.

I looked at my suspension. and found rubber bushing is broken. Driver's side bushing is normal.
Is this noise related to the broken bushing?
Is it easy to replace the rubber by myself?
A guy said ATP AT-205 reseal will fix this noise in Youtube video. Is it true?

I'm getting a clunk sound from my Passat's front left suspension when making turns. I've found info on how to diagnose control arms and I plan to jack the car up tomorrow and check it out. But how would I diagnose a tie rod end problem?
My Passat has 53,000 miles on it.
On my 99 at the tip of the springs there is what looks used to be plastic wear spacers between the leafs. Mine are worn out and I think it is part of a squeak noise I am chasing.
What that part would be, where I could get them, and do I have to break down the leaf assembly to change them or could I raise the truck by the frame and take the load off the springs enough to get the in?
After having lowering springs installed, I've been noticing a clunk noise in the rear suspension when driving over dips in the road (eg. getting out of the parking lot onto the main road). It feels like having your wheels lifted in mid-air and being dropped onto the road.
View 14 RepliesCar has 170k kilometers , just over 100k miles on it; GL model so no sport suspension. Noise occurs going over small bumps.
Stabilizer links are the only front ends parts that were changed so far(12 months ago). Can't feel any play in tierods or ball joints, even the struts don't show signs of leakage and bounce test seems to show they are still okay.
Noise appears to come from front of car ; but I hate guessing and throwing money away. Fished a few large chunks of gravel trapped in subframe cross member around steering rack; no change.
New LS 460 owner (2010 swb). Owned the car for two months now and started hearing a clunk noise from the rear when the car accelerates very slowly. Showed it to the dealer and they could not replicate.
Also hearing a water rustling noise from the right side (appears to be coming from the passenger door); again, this occurs only when the car is accelerating gently from rest.
I recently got my 09 ISF and had a few questions pertaining to some noises I'm hearing. Of course I'm hearing the ticking from the motor but until it causes any issues I can live with it.. My real questions deal with
A: When I go over a bump such as a pot hole cover or something that makes my suspension articulate quickly at low speed, I hear a rattling noise from what seems like the suspension / hub. If it makes any difference in on 2012 shocks and soft springs. (my extended warranty is kicking in soon so I hope that it doesn't play a roll in it as I'm sure they will be quick to deny it)
B: When I am coming to a stop or slowing down and the car shifts into first on its own (I think only in manual mode) there is a clunk / slight jerk sometimes... It may be coming from the rear end? Is it some type of locking or unlocking that's going on?
This is a known issue with Lexus. Bring your Lovely RX to the dealer so they can replace the Steering wheel column, so it will stop the "Squeak" noise.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.

I actually own a 06 Audi A3 3.2 dropped with ST Coilovers that impressed me at the beginning in term of comfort BUT I don't want another experience with those coilovers (clunking noise, reverse brake).
I am hesitating with many combination.
My needs: get rid of the horrible wheel gap AND maintain the best daily ride comfort 'cause I live in Quebec and I can not count anymore the potholes and patches on the roads....
The setups I am hesitating with:
-I LOVE how the H&R Supersports sit, that IS the drop level I want. And If I go with them, I would also buy some adjustable koni yellow. *I worry about the comfort*
-DG springs *worry to almost not see the difference between DG and stock look*
-VWR springs *worry about getting the reverse rake I am afraid of*
with DG or VWR springs I would conserve the stock shocks, because I guess those springs are not so low to need shorter shocks.
I've been noticing some new noises in my Elantra in the last couple of months.
First, there's a clunking noise that sounds like it's coming from the steering area. It usually happens when I back up and rotate the steering wheel, like when I back out of my parking spot. More often it's in the morning.
Second, when I turn the fan on there is a high pitched squeal. If you turn the fan off you can hear the squeal more clearly for a moment as the fans die down. This one only started happening in the last couple of weeks.
I guess I'll have to take it in and get them to take a look. Last year it was a squeaking in the pano roof which only happened when it was hot out. They seemed to have lessened it but it wasn't gone completely.
Notice a clunk noise when brake applied and first it seems when the car is turning right, but now I think as long as the surface is uneven it would do that as long as the brake is applied at the same time. It's a 2014 Sport Ltd.
