I recently trade in my 2013 2.5 B7 for a 2014 TDI... the car its great!!! Love the MPG.... but since day one the moment i let go the steering wheel the car goes to the right... took it twice to the dealer and they say its normal... they have performed 2 alignments and other things and the car still the same....
View 24 RepliesI wanted to believe I had rid the car of the steering wheel vibration when I lowered the Psi in the tires from 46-50Psi to the 35Psi it should have. However, the car still has a vibration in the steering wheel when going highway speeds accelerating up gradual hills or when accelerating out of a sweeping turn at highway speeds. It is very noticeable, you can see the hands on the wheel shake. Passengers don't notice it. I had my brother in law drive it without mentioning to him and he noticed it as well.
View 9 Replies2013 F250 Lariat. 4000 miles total on it. over half are a highway.Just wrapped up a trip up to Canada and back with work, not towing anything, and noticed on straight highway, i need to keep the wheel turned at roughly between 12 o'clock and 1 o'clock... to go straight. Much of the time.
Some of the time, its normal, straight and true, but after 400 miles straight, when my left arm is tired because of holding tension into the steering system to go straight.......
Wondering if there is known steering drift with our trucks (like my dodge hemi had prior, which needed a stabilizer added from hell bent steel) or if this may be an issue. Not looking to bring it the hour back to the dealer, for him to tell me its just fine, because its heading true at the moment.
Already did the wheel to left, right and center about five times. Still no power steering.
View 8 RepliesI've got two places in my steering wheel that seem to be peeling (I can feel it with my fingers, can't see it as it's pointing towards the dash, away from driver). Only noticed it a few days ago. Locations are approx 5 and 7 o'clock. Strange as we never put our hands in that location. I just passed 1 year, approx 21,000 kms.
View 15 RepliesEver since the first week of owning my 13 Elantra I've noticed my steering wheel isn't centered when driving straight not just by a mm or 2 it's pointing slightly to the left, I would guarantee most of you would hate this as much as I do! I went in to an alignment shop and they said during transport over rough sea's they're strapped down tight and the violent sea can cause them to shift which causes my issue, thought that was a bit of BS but surprisingly enough the dealer said the same!? I'm at 3000kms at the moment after 3months and was instructed to put at least 20,000kms before bothering with it! This is the only new car I've ever bought it only had 8kms when I took it for its test drive and never noticed this and there were about 3kms put on since the test and pick up and that was them filling the tank and getting it ready!?
View 13 RepliesWhen turning the steering wheel slowly while from a stop or slow speed there is a grinding sound coming from the front end. It isn't very loud but you can also feel it in the steering wheel.
Is there a common thing/problem with these? I know there isn't a pump. There isn't any kind of a vibration or wobble at highway speed.
I have had my 2013 Accent SE about 6-months. Upon beginning my drive to work this morning, my car's steering wheel was tilting as if it was turning right on it's own and the car was pulling to the right (I park in the same spot at my house and drive down the same street everyday). The car was pulling as if the right front tire was completely flat, but the "low tire pressure" light was not on. OR the car was pulling as if my alignment was completely out-of-wack (I have not hit any potholes in recent weeks). I stopped and checked and upon visual inspection - all tires looked good. But being OCD and loving my car, I checked the tire pressure - all 4 good. I got back in and drove maybe another 10-feet and the problems fixed itself. When I got on a flat, smooth stretch of road I tested the alignment by lightening up off the steering wheel - drove as straight as could be.
One other thing - when I got out of the car to check the tires, I left the car running. The "door open" light on the dashboard came on but there was no door open dinging. I have honestly never paid attention as to if my car has ever dinged when the car is on and the door is open. Does the 2013 Accent SE ding when the door is open and the engine is running?
I noticed that my steering wheel was a bit to the right when I drive straight so I had an alignment done. After the alignment the problem was not solved so I went to Hyundai again to redo the alignment. They told me that they redid it and also that my tires are worn unevenly so they rotated them. My problem is still not fixed! I called Hyundai yesterday and they insist saying that alignment is good and the problem are the tires. To me that don't make sense cause even with my summer tires the problem is there.

View 2 RepliesI can't drive my 2013 ES300h straight (on a straight & level road) with out turning the steering wheel to the right, then to the left (over & over again) . To be clear, I do not have to turn the wheel much at all but it has to be turned to keep it straight. I had Lexus do a 4 wheel alignment yesterday and it did not work at all. Is this normal ?
View 9 RepliesI was driving my car to the store and was streaming music using Pandora through the 'apps' in the car. The music suddenly cut out and came back a minute later but the screen said "Pandora could not be started" even though it was playing music through Pandora. The screen was locked (I could not select anything or change the program I was listening to).
As that was all going on, I came up to a stop light and waited at the light completely stopped. As I sat there, my steering wheel suddenly started twitching to the left by itself every second or so for four times and then stopped. After that, my Pandora started working correctly again and everything was normal including no more steering wheel twitch.
When you turn off the engine the steering wheel and seats will retract to allow more space for you to exit the car. Side mirrors will fold up. Motion happens in reverse when you sit in the car and start the engine.
Is there a way for me to turn off these auto features to save their motor life?
I have a 2013 elantra gt. Recently my steering wheel controls just stopped working, I'm over miles on the warranty so if I take it to the dealer it'll cost a fortune. I looked through the manual to see if I can find what fuse the controls would be on but I can't seem to figure it out. I'm hoping it's just a fuse issue not electrical. How to fix it.. My ocd is kicking in cause I can't change the trip back to miles to empty. What fuses to check. My next idea was to beat up the steering wheel...
View 9 RepliesI've noticed several times, already my heated steering wheel will automatically turn off at random times.
During the winter months i keep it on almost all the time, but noticed occasionally it just shuts off, and even gives the message in the dash that the heated steering wheel is off.
Last time it happened, i was driving for about 25 minutes, at a stop light. Whats odd is its been on for 45-60 minute drives with no issues.
I don't even think it could be diagnosed by the dealer since I don't know what the trigger is.
Snap or crack sound emanating from the front end whenever the steering wheel is turned or the suspension unloads/loads?

I read the TSB a few months back regarding the rubber coupling in the MDPS unit but it seems more like a suspension noise to me.
Well, up until a week ago, I had a 2013 GS F sport, and I believe that the steering wheel on that car was able to lock in a perfectly centered position when parked and turning the vehicle off (and then opening the door and moving the wheel slightly so that it clicked).
However, I just picked up a 2015 F sport last week and am finding that its steering wheel will only click into its locked position at about 10-15 degrees to the left or right of center (a little before the 11 or 1 o'clock positions, respectively). It does this, despite the fact that I park the car and open the door while the steering wheel is perfectly centered. I must then turn it those extra degrees before it clicks and it then stays off-center.
Shouldn't the steering wheel on my new car be able to lock on the center position? Or am I just imagining that my 2013 was able to do this? The steering itself seems to be fine, but just want to make sure nothing is wrong here.
I recently bought a 2014 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T about a 3 months ago, and have since noticed a couple issues that have come up with it. First was with a squeaking front suspension, but that was fixed by simply lubricating the sway bar bushings.
The second is that the steering wheel seems louder than normal when turning left/right at low speeds, mainly when parking, it sounds like two pieces of paper rubbing against each other right behind the steering wheel like a dry noise.
I test drove another Santa Fe before getting mine for about a week and didn't notice this issue. Is this a normal sound that eventually develops after having the Santa Fe for a while? I'm like at 3,600 miles.
2013 Santa Fe 2.2 Turbo Diesel. I left the smart key in its pocket. The battery went flat. Re-charged the battery. Vehicle won't start. Dash does not light up. Warning message displayed is:- Check Steering Wheel locking System. The steering wheel is not locked.

When my vehicle is stopped or in motion at low speed, if I turn the steering wheel, I hear a knocking out at the sound towards the front of the vehicle. How concern should I be?
On a recent trip to the service dept, I mentioned that the steering wheel makes a loud clicking noise anytime it's turned, the service guy said "it's normal and supposed to do that it's a spring"... Really? I find it hard to believe that Hyundai would make us listen to this annoying sound all the time.
