It's winter here in the northeast and for some reason all of the windows in the car including the windshield do not defrost. The rear window is fine but none of the windows defrost. I've tried everything and cannot find a solution except driving with the windows down. Is this a common issue or is there anything i can do to fix thiss?

They say they are ordering a new window guide or something to fix it.
When I turn on windshield defogger no air coming to defrost windshield. Air is coming fine from other vents. Is there a fuse I need to check or some other issue?
View 19 RepliesI have a 2008 Elantra Sedan Limited. The far right control knob for the direction of airflow does not work anymore. A few months back int would make a short strange noise when switching from the feet or head to defrost, etc. Then is stopped working last month and now it only blows air to the head area. Is there a cheap way to fix this? My brother who is a parts manager at a Ford dealer says it is most likely a faulty switch inside and a dealer only item.
View 3 RepliesI was finally told today, after several bouts of no EV on my 2014 Crosstrek Hybrid, lasting,1 to 3 days, that running the front windshield defrost PROHIBITS the use of the fully electronic engine. I came to this conclusion serendipitous on my own, but was not offered this explanation until today.
What is the best method to try to contact other Crosstrek Hybrid owners to gauge the validity of the explanation I was given regarding the operation of my hybrid? I have already posted to the Subaru forum.
I have a 2002 Ex with the 7.3. Every time I put it into 4x4, the A/C automatically switches to the windshield defrost vents. After a couple minutes it switches back the the A/C vents. I'm assuming that isn't normal.
View 12 RepliesWhether in heat or AC mode and any dial position, I'm not getting nearly enough air blowing out of the vents to cool or heat the cabin in a timely manner. The fan switch is working in all positions but I have to use high speed all the time to get enough air to defrost the windshield. I've also noticed that when defrost is selected, air only comes out on the inside part of the vents, not the outside. Is there a cabin filter on this truck, I've checked auto parts stores and they don't list anything for it.
View 2 RepliesNo matter what I do with the settings for my heater in my lariat air only blows out of the dash vents. Defrost and floor vents don't work it still blows hot air out of the dash vents. I'm not sure what the deal is maybe the vacuum system? I did a search and all I could find was people having trouble with air ONLY blowing out of the defroster and my case is just the opposite.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee with about 240000 miles on the clock. Words cannot describe how impressed I am by this car. However, yesterday I noticed that the selector switch where one chooses to direct the air output has failed me. It seems to be stuck in the windshield defrost setting, unable to redirect the airflow to anywhere else. I am however still able to control the temperature as well as A/C settings. The switch felt strangely 'limp' almost as though it is no longer connected to whatever engineering or witchcraft it is attached to behind the control panel. What are your thoughts on this? Could it be as simple as some mechanical linkage that has snapped off? Just to recap: blower motor, heat and A/C are not affected by this.
View 2 RepliesSeems below 20 my car cannot defrost the windows or heat the cabin. It has been 0-10 the last couple days here in SE WI. The coolant temp gauge is straight up right in the middle. Some how coolant isn't flowing through the heater core. Could this be a design failure? It doesn't seem to matter what settings are on dash. I have tried with ac on and off, recirculation on and off, full defrost on, fan on all speeds, have also tried a combination of cracked windows open.
Are other people experiencing this as well? Is a call to the dealer in order?
For ref car is 2014 tdi se with 34,000miles.
I picked up a '08 TSI wagon recently and noticed the bottom half of the rear defrost doesn't work & the lines are broke all on one side.
View 3 RepliesMy trip to Gillette WY was OK but the windshield washer froze up and did not work the entire trip. So much for a snow car, but now, in warmer climate, only the drivers side will spray...nothing at all out of the passenger side. I looked up the system on Ebahn 92-32 but it just shows how to remove the tip. How to replace or check the hose? Or, even better, how to direct heat to the washer system to keep it from freezing up?

View 9 Replies2000 Passat windshield was replaced yesterday by an independent service station after being hit by a rock on Rt 22 in New Jersey. The new windshield is made by XYG (Made in China). The lower half of the windshield has incredible distortion -- looks like a fun house mirror. I've never had any kind of problem like this with any vehicle I've ever owned. I will, of course, call the repair shop tomorrow morning.

Every time I refill the bottle, the next morning I always find the fluid under driver's side bumper on my driveway.
I've had my 2012 passat for one week and I love it but on two different occasions I've heard cracking noise coming from the top of the dash where it meets the windshield right after I started driving. It goes away after a few seconds and on both occasions it was hot outside.

View 1 RepliesTurn the interior air fan On, select air for Windshield, AC Button turns On. I turn off AC (amber light turns off on AC button), but i still get ice Cold air that is blowing on to the windshield.
I this normal? Never had this issue with other car makes.
Just want to know before i take a trip to the dealer. Its a new car with 5k miles on it. Its been doing this since day one.
I also cant select recirculated air for windshield.
What is the size I would need to pursue this?
