Passat (B6) :: Windshield Wipers Won't Work?
Jan 4, 2011
Started the car up this morning, went to turn on the windshield wipers to remove dirt from the window and they did not turn on. What possibly could be the issue?

View 9 RepliesI had a new windshield installed today. After the install was completed, I checked the wipers, and they no longer work. I called the installers, they came back and took the arms off and put them back on. All wires appear connected, though I have not checked voltage. I have no rain sensor. The rear wiper still works. It's an oem windshield...
View 8 RepliesWindshield wipers don't work at all. Not even a little bit.
I first had a problem in the summer. The wipers stopped working for a day or two and then started working fine again. Now, they don't work at all. The fuse is fine (and was replaced even though it was fine). It isn't the switch as that has been replaced. It isn't the motor/wiper arms as that has been replaced. I don't see any damaged wires or anything.
I am hoping I am missing something really simple.
I have a 2.4L 2003 Camry. No modifications other than a new HU that's been in place for years. I do also have a Sirius radio that plugs into 12v socket.
About a year ago, the only speed that will work for my windshield wipers is the high speed. Every now and then, i can use the other speeds, but they will only work for a few seconds. Recently, I was driving the highway, and out of nowhere, with the wiper switch in the OFF position, my wipers started working. I had to switch it to the fast speed a few times then OFF to get them to stop.
Thinking it was a motor issue, i first took both arms off, then ran the wipers. They work perfectly. It's as if as soon as I put the arms back on, they become "too heavy" for the motor, and won't work in any of the other settings (I guess that's the best way that my mind makes sense of it.
I also experience the door lock issue (sometimes using the key fob will only lock/unlock 3 out of the 4 doors)...
Had a freeze, I went out to drive our Phaeton. Started the car and went to run the windshield wipers to clear the windshield, they were frozen. when I got them unfrozen they would not work and still do not work. It's been about three weeks. I checked the fuses, but I don't think that is the problem. Is there a reset button or did I burn out the wiper motors?
View 4 RepliesWas coming back from my parents house yesterday night, it started down pouring real hard. I come to turn the wipers on but nothing...so put my hazards on(4 way flashers) on then waited a bit. What it could be? If I do have to replace the motor, what do i need to take off to do so?
View 16 RepliesI just bought a 1998 ford f150. Wipers do not work, the wipers only work when i hit windshield washer, but no washer fluid comes out, what could it be?
View 2 Replies1999 f350 gas 4x4 . Truck runs fine. even passed inspection. However just recently my windshield wipers seem to work only sometimes. Right now won't come on at all. I checked the fuse.
View 3 RepliesMy father in law has a 2011 Prius -3 - with 135,000 miles on it. He has an interesting issue. The front windshield wipers work on low and medium. When he tries to put them on high, the wipers barely moves. When I drop the stalk back at med or low and it works as if nothing is wrong. I have checked the 30amp fuse and it looks fine. I do not hear any grinding or noise when the wipers are working. I think it could be the motor. However before I go out and purchase the motor, I wanted to make sure there was anything else I could be missing... The dealer wanted 340 for parts and install.. .I know I can do the job myself as I have worked on their other Prius - 2005 with 240,000 miles and counting.
View 10 RepliesGot in the car this morning and my headlights, windshield wipers, and turn signals would all not turn on or work.
I'm not sure if the this is a problem with the stalks on the steering column or possibly a relay.
When i pull the left stalk my high beams will come on but only when i do that.
The windshield wipers would not turn on at all and the windshield wash would not even spray as well.
I also noticed that my AC/Heat controls wouldnt respond either. Any clue as to what it might be.
We have a fleet of Prius's with 11k miles on them. Windshield wipers don't work and cigarette lighter plugs don't work. I'm guessing this is due to blown fuses. Where the fusebox is? I'm getting fed up with this. Also, is there a diagram somewhere that shows which fuses are for which circuits? (IE Which number fuses protects windshield wiper circuit) so I can finally see in the rain...
View 8 RepliesI have a 2006 Dodge Caravan that when I drive at highway speeds and it's wet out, my air bad light comes on and about 50% of the time, the radio, fan, windshield wipers, and 12v outlet stop working suggesting the fuse or some other wiring is getting wet. The dealer cannot replicate and will not suggest any fixes. What do I have my local mechanic replace or seal?
I know there's a Chrysler recall on 2005-2006 Caravans, #J38, but my Caravan falls outside the specs by 2 mths (it was for vehicles in service between Jan 2005 and April 2006).
I have a 2000 Ford Windstar Van with 155,000 miles on it. A problem has developed with the electrical system/components. The van will start and run fine. With the engine running, there is no instrumentation, power windows do not work, wind shield wipers do not work, radio does not work, heater blower motor does not work. After the engine has been shut off, the radio will work, windows will work, door locks until such time as you open the door, then all quits. With the key in accessory, the windows work, door locks work, radio works, etc. The neutral module was replaced (the old one, none of the contacts appeared to be burnt). Ford dealer spent an hour trouble shooting - checked body modules (2) - found nothing.

View 1 RepliesLast week I tried to use my wipers and it seemed like they were stuck, I turned them off, it wasn't that bad but since then I tried to use them even when it was a lot warmer and could not have been frozen and they don't move at all now. What steps should I take to check all the ins and outs?
View 1 RepliesWhat is the size I would need to pursue this?
View 18 RepliesHere in the midwest and this is probably true in the east coast areas as well, we are having some pretty intense winter weather. I have been having trouble with my wipers when driving in heavy snowfall or freezing rain. Ice builds up on the blades and arms so badly that they just smear the windshield. I have to pull over, get out and bust the ice off. It also builds up in the well below the windshield.
View 9 Repliesat any speed they are much slower than normal... what can cause this? bad relay, motor, ???
View 2 RepliesEvery couple of days I'll notice the wipers sort of "twitch" up the windshield about " when I turn the car off. They don't go back down until the car is started and rolling forward. I'm not sure if there's a particular speed that triggers this, but it would have to be less than 5 mph.
The wipers seem to work fine. My local service department suggested that the wipers might be in "service" (a.k.a. "winter") mode. Based on what the owner's manual says about winter mode I'd have to disagree. The wipers move just the smallest amount.
I have an '08 Lux wagon with rain sensing wipers and automatic headlights. When I spray the windshield with washer fluid, the wipers don't come on to wipe it away. This occurred today, and the wipers would not activate no matter what position I put the control stalk in. Then, after a few seconds, they came on and cleared the windshield. I have not noticed any other issues with the wipers. What might be going on here?
View 7 RepliesI have only had my car for about a month and i just realized that my wipers don't work. The mist setting, and constant 1 and 2 work also. But when i set it to the rain sensing mode and move the lever either way it will not work even in a down pore.
