So when the car is idling(warmed up) I suddenly have a random popping noise coming from the front passenger side of the car. It is about 9 pops evenly spaced about every 1/2 second and then it stops. This is all while not moving....Like when sitting at a light. Then about 5 minutes later it will do it again. It seems its becoming more & more frequent.

It is from this hose that connects to my header it has this crack in it and it is sucking air in. My question is what is the name of this hose, and what does it do?

Some months ago I chipped it and it drives very good and I also changed the diverter valve to a 710N.
But now it is fast, but sometimes it just feels like it doesn't hold boost as it should. and I hear a very loud psss sound just like a BOV when I shift. Could it be the 710N which has been broken? Or is it a vacuum line to the DV that has a leak?
Turbo leaking? Is it costly to fix? I have a 2002 Passat, V-4 engine. I just took it in to get my oil changed and the mechanic told me that there's turbo leak. I have also been experiencing a weird siren like noise when I drive and the car feels like it's struggling whenever I go over 40 mph and or driving up a steep hill.
View 8 RepliesLast night on our way home I was on the highway and we get into slow moving traffic around 25-30 MPH I get to heard this tap tap tap tap noise. which was going away when accelerating or braking.. and coming back when leaving the car rolling by itself... I did a bunch of recordings but this is the one you can heard the best... noise actually changes with speed and when turning, but again it goes away if I touch the brakes or the gas...
Noise appears to come from the front driver side.

Popping coming from their driver seat? It mostly "pops" when I apply the brakes coming to a full stop or sometimes after I stopped and accelerate, the seat back pops. It's intermittent and I'm afraid the dealership cannot replicate the problem when I take it in.

Anyways....I've noticed this about 5 times now I'm on my '13 Passat V6.....when I go to back up into a parking spot. And that's the ONLY time it's done it too.
Going from Drive, I put it into Reverse and then turn the wheel a little (NOT even all the way) and hear a "pop" or creak/clunk....definitely from the front. So my guess is that it's the subframe shifting. Only 400 miles on the car too, btw.
I put a Thule roof rack on my wagon a month or so ago and I have noticed that when we turn a corner or hit/go over bumps that it sounds like the roof is popping? Is this normal? what can I do to make it stop?

It usually happens when the car is slowing down, or when I'm first starting off from a red light, stop sign, etc. It's annoying as hell! I searched the forums, and no one had this exact problem.
View 4 RepliesSo i just got my car back from the dealership today. they claimed my poping/clicking noise was due to my oil catch not being secure. so they secured it for me and it doesn't move at all now and I still hear the popping/clicking noise when slowing down or speeding up abruptly and when backing out of parking spots.
I have torqued all the subframe bolts and done the subframe washer and also retorqued all the suspension bolts for the struts and the strut mounts and bearings are brand new. It almost sounds like a cv joint or some sort of ball joint popping. They said they checked the cv joint and there is no play and looks fine .
It also quiets down when its wet out but when its hot and dry its very loud and bystanders can hear the noise.
Well my girls car is acting up again. when you make left turns, you can hear this real loud popping, almost cracking noise coming from the passenger side front tire. its a 06 passat with 88k miles on it. What is wrong with it??
View 4 RepliesWe have a 1999 Passat GLX 2.8 auto. I recently put on a new inner and outer tie rod as well as a lower forward control arm. The issue that we are experiencing is that when accelerating or braking hard there is a popping/clunking noise coming from the driver front area. When accelerating or braking normally/ smoothly it is fine. But, as I said accelerate or brake hard it will make a single pop or clunk and that is it, just once when braking hard or accelerating quickly.

View 1 RepliesWhen filling up with gas, I can only get a couple gallons put in the tank before the nozzle kicks off from the pump. As I get closer to filling up the tank it kicks off more frequently. The way I equalize the gas tank while filling up so that I can add more gas is to move the gasoline nozzle in and out a couple times and i can see a little bit of gas squirt out while the pressure inside is adjusting.
I don't think anyone was able to put something into my tank to plug it up. There is a little hole directly under where the gas cap screws onto that has a rubber opening, I'm wondering if maybe some dirt got into that and plugged it assuming that hole has something to do with making sure the pressure equalizes, but I don't know.
Ok so i was sitting at the light and my car was making weird noises like a computer was loading or something and then all of a sudden the car just randomly died ..

I have a 99 passat variant with the 1.8T. I recently put in an Evo intake, forge dv(reversed), denso iridiums and an upsolute chip and ever since I put the intake in I hear a honking air sound from under the hood. I only hear it for a little bit when I reach a certain point on the gas pedal then it goes away until I reach that point again under throttle. It's like a really low car horn sound. I know it can't be normal for my mods but it started ever since I put in my intake. It's just annoying. Can it be a leak in the intercooler hose or a vacuum leak. I can't figure it out I looked under the car and the intercooler hoses seem fine.
View 3 RepliesI have an 07 Passat 2.0T with 48,000+ on it. I tend to overthink any little sound my car makes that doesn't seem normal and this one has me perplexed. When I am driving at low speeds, windows down, I hear what amounts to a "psst" sound come from my front shocks only. I understand I have gas shocks on the front but it doesn't seem like any other car makes this sound.
The ride is comfortable and the sound does not seem to affect the suspension feel. Is this a normal sound? Do you think there is an issue with the shocks? I have been searching high and low for someone with a passat that has written about this sound from the shocks.
Last night I noticed a weird sound coming from the left side (alternator side) of my engine. Took a video.... I have already done my timing belt replacement about 10k miles ago. Oil is full, no leaks. Have the pcv block so it has a slight putting sound (as stated from their install manual). You can hear an inconsistent hollow growling sound that happens at idle but also under revs. Didn't notice the sound this morning but a lot last night.

About a month ago I'm getting in my car, start it, turn on the a/c and as soon as I put it in drive and start to move I hear this strange noise all of a sudden. It's happened a few times now since then usually will be at least a week in between before it makes the noise again. What I have gathered is it can only be heard inside the cab, so it's not under the hood and when you turn the a/c off it shuts off so has something to do with that. Sounds kind of like a fan and I've included a video even though it's dark I follow the sound and it appears to come from the passenger side of the center console. Exactly what it is?
