I too suffer from the "suspension" noise whenever running over a sharp speed bumper. Today I took some pictures under the bumper, wow, what a mess! I don't think all the solutions people posted on the other post could solve the problem, it's rather a design flaw than an problem. This should be a recall.

View 3 RepliesI'm new to vw and I have a passat 3.6 sel premium and I have been hearing a noise coming from my rear suspension when I have a full car or going over speed bumps and such. It took it to the dealer and they said that they couldn't replicate the problem, could it be the control arms or it's bushings? The car is only 6 months old smh.

See the attached videos. The first one (night time) was made before I took the car to the dealer the first time. Dealer said that I was going too fast over the speed bumps, so I made another video (daytime) showing the speed (10-13 mph). Both times you can hear a squeaking noise coming from the front that I just started hearing last week. The car has only 23,000 miles on it. I bought it brand new back in September of 2010. I don't know what to do because the dealer (of course) says that they checked everything and there is nothing wrong with the car.
What was the cause of it. I can take it to a mechanic and check it myself and then bring it to VW for repairs and telling them exactly what's wrong and why.

At 120k miles, my 2003 Camry LE 2.4L started to make some noise when making sharp right turn at low speed (below 5mph) going forward. It sounds like the tire rubbing the fender or somewhere, not metallic, and it's periodic, at 2-3Hz or so. It comes from somewhere on the driver side but I'm not sure. The car doesn't make noise when turning at stop or backing up or going straight, and the noise seems to disappear if turning at higher speed (maybe the turn is not sharp enough).
First I suspect the tire is rubbing the fender. But after inspection, no rubbing marks can be found, and there seems no rubbing when the car is parked and the wheel turn all the way to the right. Then I suspect a bad CV axle. But the boots seem in good shape with no leaking grease, and there's no noise when backing up.
2004 Jeep Wrangler Sport 5-speed Bought used 2yrs ago. 76,000 miles Only seems to happen after driving for more than an hour. When I either back into my driveway or turn sharp into a parking sport, mostly to right, I get a bumping sound, like something rubbing. My mechanic has replaced the sway bar links, front rotors, axle yoke, had a front differential leak so seal was replaced, and am still getting the sound. Tires Bf Goodrich All Terrain Do not do off road.

The spring-clicking kinda noise only happens when i make a sharp right turn at low speed and seems to be coming from the driver's side. So i though bad outer cv joint.
Well, I put on a brand new OEM unit last night and noise is still there.
I have a 2002 Subaru legacy wagon, 185k miles, 5 speed manual, thumping noise when making sharp turns at slow speed, happens only after I drive over about 10 miles, does not happen after the car sits for any length of time.
View 5 RepliesThe other day i noticed that when i make a sharp turn left or right i hear a clicking noise. If the clutch is engaged it clicks and if its not then it does not click. It is also louder when i turn right... I am thinking CV axle!
View 4 RepliesI've had my R sitting on KW variant 1 coils for about a month now. When I first installed the coils, I adjusted them WAY too low for my liking (looked flawless but wasnt practical for my driving conditions). On my first couple of drives, I noticed a "popping" sound at very low speeds (like when exiting a parking spot) when turning my steering wheel. It was as though my wheels would turn to a certain point and "pop," it sounds like something popped out of place. If I move my steering wheel back and forth to repeat the popping sound, the sound does NOT repeat (it only happens once in awhile).
With the car stationary, I have looked into the wheel wells with my friends turning the wheels and I dont see anything rubbing. I have since raised the car VERY slightly (still sits on about a 1/2 finger gap) and still, when I first get in the car in the morning and pull out of my garage, I hear this slight pop.
I am planning on doing the "tab mod" on my fenders this weekend because I am rubbing on the tab on high speed turns, but I don't think this has anything to do with the popping. The car drives fine and my friends and I have installed coils tons of times without any problems.
So I've recently dropped the car with ST coils and during the install, I had the mechanic installed NEW strut mounts and strut bearings because I've heard people having noises if they only do the coils.
However, even with the new strut bearings/mounts, I would hear clicking noises at low speed going in a out the parking spot or parallel parking (not every time but getting close). Therefore, my questions are:
1. If strut bearings/mounts are new and put in at the same time as the coils, what other reasons could there be that's causing this clicking noise?
2. If the noise doesn't bother me and I can live with it, would there be any negative effects for not having this issue taking care of?
Noticed the front suspension makes some "flexing" noises when turning the wheel during slow speed maneuvers? (e.g. during parallel parking). The best way I can describe it is it sounds like the suspension is being compressed as I turn the wheel as the car has almost come to a complete stop. (yes I know we should avoid turning the wheel when stationary). I realize it's probably normal. I'll just add it to the list of other noises my car likes to make. My car is bone stock btw.
View 2 RepliesOn my 2012 F150 Supercrew 4x4, when I'm entering parking lots, or other places where I'm turning and going over bumps at the same time, the front suspension make a fairly loud sound. It seems to be much worse when turning left, and the sound comes from the Passenger front side, I think.
The sound is a fairly sharp "snap" or "crack" or maybe even a "bong" kind of thing. So all you keyboard mechanics. As a bonus question, once we have guessed what it is, can I fix it myself with hand tools and very little mechanical aptitude?
I'm in the market for an '09 Sonata 4cyl. I found a good looking one at a local Toyota dealership (supposed trade in). Unfortunately, the dealer claims there are no service records available...test drove it and heard noise coming from rear suspension when going over speed bumps. Dealer had tech look into it and said they lubed up the 'springs' and stabilizer/sway bar and now the noise is gone. Should I run away or take this thing in for an independent inspection, and if it checks out, buy it without the service records?

My Treg is a V8 PPS and is one of the first here in the US (took delivery 7/7/03).
I have a 1993 Lexus SC 300 and have met all maint milestones. Recently had both rear shocks replaced and am getting a SHARP metal contact in the left rear when the suspension begins to load. Mechanic spent afternoon looking in shock mount, trunk, spare, jack, spare and antenna mast-can't find it. New tires. New rear brakes-told me that was it. Still there.
View 2 RepliesIn my 2001 Toyota Echo I have a noise in my suspension but I don't know where it is coming from. I made a video of me pushing down on the hood to produce the noise. I notice it when i turn the wheel at low speed, or even just driving at low speed. There is enough power steering fluid. The sound is a groaning, kind of like a rusty hinge.

I have about 48k miles on my 2010. Colder weather seems to bring out lots of noises. I can hear a suspension crick noise when I hit a bump and slow speed up the driveway apron. Got me thinking about shocks and struts. How long do they last?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.

Now, this summer, it has started creaking and popping when I go over wavy roads or take sharp curves at speed.
If I accelerate/decelerate the frame pops over on the passenger side and I hear pops in the trunk area.
I wonder how much longer it will be safe to drive.

Slow speed sharp turns left and right taking off from a stop I hear a thumping/light popping in the driveline. Seems like it could be a differential issue?
I also hear an unusual noise while accelerating in a straight line.....under throttle from a stop, it sounds like a rapid chirp on and off, every other second. Almost like a valve tick. The noise is heard under acceleration in gear, not when cruising at light throttle. I put the transmission in neutral while rolling, revved up the engine and the noise is not heard. Only happens when in gear and accelerating.
