View 3 RepliesToyota camry SE 2012. The sunroof is stuck on the open position. It is fully open and the motor does not make any noise. The fuse is ok. Nothing seems stuck on the track just from a quick glance. I am hoping to find a way to manually close it if it is possible.
View 2 RepliesThe sunroof on my 99 ford taurus has a dead motor as of yesterday and it's going to rain today! It is stuck in the tilted up position, is there anyway to manually close it until it can be repaired?
View 12 RepliesSo my sunroof is stuck open and the shade is all the way forward. When I try to close it the glass touches the shade and then goes back to the open position..
View 1 RepliesMy front wipers are stuck in the up position. I left my wipers on when getting out of the car at night, the next morning when I turned the ignition the wipers started to go up so I automatically turned them off, the wipers went down to there normal rest position and then all of a sudden they went back up. Now they rest in the vertical position, they work fine but its starting to piss me of a little.
View 4 RepliesI put the rear seats all the way down to haul some gear, and when I went to raise the rear passenger seat back up, I found it would not go back up. The middle shoulder belt is stuck in position. I removed the plastic clip, unbolted the metal frame, tried to jiggle what I could with a screwdriver, to no avail. I used to use this belt for the kid seat, so perhaps keeping it in position for so long did something to the linkage.
The car has 80k on it, 2000 Passat V6
I have a 99 Passat 1.9 Automatic with door lock problems .The LR door is stuck in the shut position and the passenger doors front and rear can not be closed the latch doesn't hold the door close ,I have to tie them up with a rope to drive. The only one that works normally is the driver's door luckily. Where to start ?. If I force the lock knob on the Left rear door from inside goes back in and I can't open that door at all.
View 4 RepliesThe "60" portion of my 60/40 rear seat will not go back to the regular seat back position. I have been told by a local VW dealership that the center seat belt mechinism is locked and is preventing the seat back from going back up.
View 1 RepliesOk I let My friends use my passat wagon to move afew things and when he brought it back my wipers where stuck in the upright position when the car is driving, on or off. When I hit the wiper switch they move slightly to the left before going back down and working as they are suppose to. But the second I turn them off they will go to the upright position and even if the car is turned off with them down, the second you start or turn the car on they will move to the upright position and stay that way. So it seems like this is their new resting place. My question is, how do I get them back to their original resting place down where they are suppose to be.
View 4 RepliesSunroof rattle(in up position) when going over moderate bumps? Definitely noticeable in my car.
View 8 RepliesMy sunroof opened on the highway today with the switch in the closed position. Being a Seattleite, this could create a very wet condition in the cabin! I have owned the car for two years and have never experienced this before.
View 8 RepliesLately, been hearing a lot of creaking noises coming from the sunroof in the closed position. I have open and closed it a few times just to make sure it was aligned improperly. Maybe it was a one-time thing from having it open on a nice day but it has been pretty consistent now. Seems to be fine otherwise, opens and closes, no wind noise when closed, etc.
View 11 Replies1. I can tilt the sunroof up and down with no problem.
2. When trying to open the sunroof, the sunroof is supposed to dip down about 1/4", then retract back. Mine gets stuck while trying to dip down.
3. If I get outside the car, and press down on the glass with about 1 lb of force, the sunroof will pop down, and retract back just fine. It will also close just fine.
I took the car to the dealer yesterday. Four hours later they called me and said it was fixed. I arrived 30 minutes later and tried it, and it was still 'catching' a tad bit...and then would 'pop' down on its own. So the problem was better, maybe by 50%, but still not fixed. The tech comes out, makes more adjustments and finally its perfect, just like factory.
I drive to my destination and try the sunroof out 3-4 times and it worked perfectly. I went inside my destination for an hour, came back out, and immediately tried the sunroof having my doubts. Sure enough, it was catching just like it was at the dealership an hour before hand. Now, the following day, its completely stuck like it was before I took it in for service all together.
It seems to be changing based on duration, or time. It makes NO sense to me. I do have an appointment for 8am tomorrow morning to address the issue yet again. Got the car back and it still seemed like it was catching a little as it retracted down. The loaner IS I had was smooth as butter with zero catching. The service department told me they compared it with a brand new IS and said this was the same on their new one.
After about 2 hours later, I noticed it got a little worse and is causing a major 'thud' when popping down. I immediately called and scheduled ANOTHER service appointment for Monday morning. The sunroof won't even open now. It gets completely stuck as it retracts down. Seriously... what is the freaking deal here??? Its like it keeps getting off track without even using it... I feel like this is never going to end.
Tonight, I decided to look at the sunroof myself and see if I could figure this out on my own. I tilted the sunroof 'Up' and examined a light 'sticky' residue all along the black lip of the sunroof glass itself. I began to assume that perhaps this light sticky residue was causing the glass to 'stick' as it was supposed to come down & retract back. I got some white lithium grease (liquid in a rattle can) and sprayed it in a terry cloth and wiped down the black edges of the sunroof glass. I then tried opening & closing the sunroof to see if this work... and it DID! The 'thud' noise as the sunroof comes down was instantly eliminated... but I noticed the more I opened & closed it, the thud started reoccurring ever so slightly.
I then tried lubing up the sunroof the best I could using the terry cloth and liquid white lithium grease and now the sunroof is opening and closing near perfectly. It appears it needs quite a bit of grease though as the black rubber surround on the sunroof glass seems to be absorbing the grease very rapidly... and if I could find some white lithium grease that's a solid base (solid like Vaseline), I could probably lube it up enough to rectify the issue permanently.
Lexus has had the car since 03/11. They called me today and came to the conclusion that the sunroof glass + seal needed to be replaced. They claimed to call a technician (I guess at Corporate Office) and there has been two incidents of this happening where replacing the sunroof glass fixed the issue. They said the glass was on backorder but said it showed it was going to be delivered to them tomorrow. Very strange. But lets see if this fixes it.
Coincidentally enough, the drivers door lock actuator also went out Thursday morning. So a new one goes in tomorrow. The sunroof glass and seal has been replaced. The sunroof opens normal and appears to be fully functional again. Very interesting! The tech notes describe the issue as the seal having become warped and catching on the roof panel, which caused the 'thunking' and 'catching' of the glass on the roof.
On my 1991 945, the electric sunroof won't move at all (stuck closed). The motor visibly twitches clockwise and counter-clockwise in response to the control switch but then stops (or is stopped by the jammed sunroof). All the instructions I've read for working on the sunroof begin by saying "open the sunroof to the vent position" but how do I do that? Presumably there's some manual way, but I don't know what it is.
View 1 RepliesI was driving down the highway tonight and slid the sunroof back. When I went to close it I heard a loud click and got concerned. When I touched the butt to slide it again, it didn't move. I tried the other button and it didn't do anything. Just clicked. So, I finished my trip home as it sounded and seemed sealed. When I got home, I tried the buttons again, and only the told function worked, but only to the point of raising it.
Now I can't lower it.
2012 King Ranch completely optioned out. Never had any issues from it until last month when I had the A/C replaced at Ford. They broke my original factory windshield in the process and ended up replacing it, with another original, free of charge. I don't wanna jump to conclusions, but could they have damaged the sunroof intentionally to try to get me back there to recoop their losses?
I just bought my kia from its first owner and love it. However, one of the first issues I came across was when I tried to turn the car off and the key stuck in the ACC position. I've had this happen nearly half the time I turn the key. My best fix for it is to turn the car back over and continue to try turning it off. Sometimes it needs a forceful turn to get it to work. I brought it to the dealership and they "couldn't duplicate it" but factored out it being an issue with the stealing deterrent the car has built in. My husband hasn't had issue with it either so now they are looking at me. I swear it happens a lot! I've tried turning the wheel, lifting the key in the process of the turn, being gentler with the turn, everything. It's still happening.
View 6 RepliesMy wife has a 2012 Golf TDI. So far it's been great. Yesterday her sunroof got stuck. The motor sounds like it is grinding and won't catch. Tried to manually close the sunroof with no luck.
Took it to the dealer today. They said if it's due to sticks or leaves it is not a warranty issue. I highly doubt that's the case. My wife did say, that the sunroof did just open on it's own the other day while driving. Don't know if that's related.
I have noticed that my rear sunshade sometimes gets stuck in the "up" position and will not come back down until I turn the the car off and re-start it. Some days it works every time, and on other days, it seems to have a mind of its own.
View 18 RepliesRecently my car horn became stuck in the on position even though I was not driving the car or using the horn. In fact, it got stuck in the middle of the night!! To stop the horn, I simply removed the fuse for the horn, but I was curious what sort of issue would cause this problem and what should be done to fix it.
View 5 RepliesBought my 2004 Lexi RX330 in June 2014 with 96k (now has 105k - I drive a lot). It is beautiful and I love it! However, I am NOT in love with the sunroof that is currently stuck open. It's been making a weird noise upon opening (think bag of chips crackly) for the past few weeks. Yesterday was gorgeous weather in TX, so it was open most of the day. Come time to put her to bed, the sunroof would not close. Making a horrible grindy/clicky noise and closes about 4 inches then stops... then it starts to open again. Weird! There's nothing I can see in the tracks that is stopping it. The passenger side looks like it would close, but the drivers side looks like it is stuck. Tried to take the sunroof motor out, but there is a metal bracket in the way. Besides the fact, what to do with the motor once I had it out...
View 1 RepliesI have a strange problem with the air circulation in my 2010 prius. The vents are stuck in one position. When I try to go to different mode (windshield, floor, etc) it doesn't do anything.
This happened when I was alternating between windshield and other modes to get small parts of glass from the vents (car had a windshield damage due to a "meeting" with a deer). Anyway, I don't know what could be wrong.
Is there a motor that overheated (due to constant switching of modes)? Is there a piece of glass blocking the system from switching?
