Passat (B6) :: Stripped MAF Sensor Hole On Intake?
Jul 2, 2012
I stripped the MAF sensor hole on my intake. Any recommendations on how to fix this? Do they make tread inserts that small for that type of thread? I was thinking about jamming some JB weld in there and drilling/tapping that.
I know that unmetered air can get in there if it's not tight so I tried to carefully seal it up with some rtv for now.

2000 honda accord automatic, 4 cylinder. As I unscrew the drain plug of the transmission, i stripped about 2/3 of the hole threads. the bolt threads are OK. what are my choices to fix it? i do not believe there is room to "tap and die" (?). I visited locan NAPA and they suggested me using 2 liquid epoxy. what i am thinking to do first is to use the liquid gasket surrounding my bolt, bolt them in using the remaining 1/3 of the hole thread. Let is sit and cured. it will work?

I was replacing my spark plugs and one screw holding the ignition coil stripped while another snapped. I have change 3 plugs (the easy one) and could have more problems. I spent half a day trying to drill the screws out to no avail and also noticed the intake manifold is plastic. I was thinking of swapping it out. This would alleviate the broken screw problem and make pulling the plugs easier. It also looks like it's just 8 bolts. Would swapping a new intake manifold in add any performance gains? Is there a manifold others recommend?

1999 F-250 LD 5.4... There is a hole on the back of the upper intake manifold, just below the back of the throttle body, is a vacuum hose supposed to be attached here? Have a serious vacuum leak, no coolant loss, no overheating, just had cop's and spark plugs done, now she backfires, stalls and will not stay running, mech. says its an intake gasket but the gasket and lower intake manifold look new.

Today I was on my way back home from a weekend trip to see family when the CEL came on. The car was running fine no problems (we had driven 200 miles). Gas mileage was good, good power, no weird noises, engine temp was fine (it was 100 degrees outside). But being how the car has 39k on it and its the most expensive thing I own; I pulled over and had autozone scan it for me. It came up as Intake Manifold Sensor. I have never worked on this car but Im going to at some point, I'll replace it myself if it isn't to hard. I am wondering if it is as simple as replacing the sensor or could there be an underlying issue like a blown intake manifold gasket (like i said the car was running fine though)?

I've looked at [URL] at the three primary hitch receivers for the 2013 RX 350; Curt, Hidden, Draw-tite.
From the side profile picture which etrailer displays for each, the Curt has one hole and the other two have two. Those two appear to be different sizes. The one on the Curt seems to appear smaller than the larger of the other two holes on the other two hitch receivers.
I called etrailer and the person I spoke with could not tell me why they were different, they just read the specs I see on the page, tongue weight, load, blah, blah.
With my hitch, I will need to haul a Yakima trailer, about 450 Ibs total, it is a very lightweight trailer, or a 2" Yakima bike rack. Maybe some day, I'll need to haul something of substance, but I have no plans.
I'm also wondering if a hitch which is recessed back, will it be difficult to work the pin in and out?

Looking at my circle track car when they told me my air intake temperature sensor was missing this is a picture online I found: [URL] ....
The hole is filled with a bolt and some epoxy. I don't see where the cable is for it. What will this do to my car? It is a track only car.

My 2003 Mk 4 Golf have had a lot of error codes and I have cleared most (O2 sensors, thermostat, and Mass Air Sensor) I now have an error P0113 which is the Intake Air temp Sensor.
So I need to clean the sensor first then maybe replace it, but I can't find the sensor on the intake manifold.
I have looked all through the U-Tube info, but nothing matches my 2003 Golf 2.0L ...

I have a 02 2.0 Jetta with 179k
Have that pesky "whistle under acceleration" when past 1/4 throttle issue. I have been going over the entire engine, checking and cleaning.
-----On the intake tube where the 1 inch case vent and half inch tube meet there is a Flapper/Flow check with a electrical connector directly on top.
Question being, is this a flow sensor? The flapper is distorted and does not function properly.. is this an issue?

I've tried to do my due diligence searching on this (I've seen many posts but most have other codes).. I have the P000A code, reads as follows-- Intake (A) Cam Position Sensor Slow Response (powertrain).
I have no misfires, hesitation rough idle, nothing. I have 94k miles and I always done my oil changes @ 5k intervals and I have not had any prior engine maintenance done to the car....
I took my R32 to the local VW dealer today and they are saying they believe it might be the time chain tensioners. I am wonder if this could be a simple sensor issue since the car runs perfectly fine, I just get the engine light coming back on after 1 to 2 weeks of clearing the code. I have had this issue since January and I thought it might be the cold weather here in WI.

Noticed a while back that the plug for what I assume is the air intake temp sensor is looped. I assume because I can't find the sensor anywhere. how critical is the sensor? The new S&B has a hole for it so it's either gonna need a new sensor or a plug. The local autozone has one for 16.99.

I notice a hole in the wheel well that goes up to the firewall of the car, may be for the turbo? It could also be a good place to introduce NOISE into into the cabin of the car as well.

Check engine light is on, this is the code that came up when checked at OReillys, "P0113 Intake Air temperature sensor 1 Circuit high input". Earlier took it to repair shop, he did not give the code, some sensor needs to be changed (don't know if he came up with same code). He had erased the code but it came back on within minutes. Wanted to check if there is any cheaper way to fix this. This is a windstar van.

Before i bought this car i thought a vw nut owned the car but now i'm certain. when i lowered it the other weekend i learned some things.
-k&w shocks in the rear
-frame notch up front with brackets welded inside the wheel arch to hang air lines
-a nice little hole in my driver side glove box where the height controller was probably mounted

I have a code for iat sensor 1 circuit high. It's the only code I can pull. I replaced the sensor in the manifold and still no change. The truck revs up when started but kinda finds its idle rpm after a second and the idle fluctuates some when the truck is warmed up too. I have a snap on solus and all parameters seem to be good. Icp sensor is also new thinking it might be the cause. Other than that the truck runs perfect and doesn't miss a beat.

We have water leak issues for close to a year now, very frustrating. Not heard much of B7s leaking so I thought I'd stop in here and check it out. Great car to drive, only other issue we've had was the cold weather inactive drivers door lock as seen by many others.

I have a big hole in my catalytic converter and the car sounds like it is missing a muffler. Where I should go to have that hole welded as i do not see myself spending ~700 to get a new one for Passat 2003.

Getting stupid amount of engine heat on legs? I feel like I'm straddling the manifold sometimes.
Only thing I can think of is that I've got a large hole in a grommet or something?

I have a 2007 Passat turbo wagon and my cat converter got a hole in it the other day. I drove in morning and it was just noisy otherwise fine. My wife took it in afternoon and almost didn't make it home. Could hardly make it up a hill and brakes had to be applied to floor. Anti lock would vibrate but not very responsive to stopping. Was towed to local mechanic next day and he thinks problems are related. Could the computer cause a breakdown of the brakes due to bad exhaust system? He says he can't find ant leaks in brake system. He is waiting for the cat converter to come in to replace and hopes brakes will work again.

I have a 1997 wolfsburg Passat vr6 glx automatic. I was in the middle of replacing the shifter light bulb that is down in the housing of the black console when I noticed a black electrical cord coming out of the rear of the housing hole. Right next to it was the other end it plugged into but they were not plugged together. I plugged them up and haven't noticed anything different. Just wondering what if anything it goes to.
