Just came back from waterfest did about 200 miles since I changed my timing belt I did the complete package tensioner roller etc got home and I have this squeaking noise like crazy stops and goes stops and goes in and out every 20 sec look at the video what is this what should I do can I drive it like this.
View 3 RepliesI have just purchase a used one 2 weeks ago. I bought it from a local dealer (Longo Toyota). After I got the car home for a day it started to make noises when i brake. If the brake pedal is depress about half way it will make a squeaking noise when it comes to a stop. So i bought the car back in to the dealer and all they did was flush the system and reboted the computer. They said this is normal for some pruis to make a noise when the vehicle comes to a stop and it should not be a safety concern.

It occurs intermittently and sometimes doesn't occur at all. The more the car is warmed up, the more often it seems to occur. Techs at Hyundai couldn't figure it out. They made me replace the rotors and pads with OEM parts and surprise, surprise, the same exact noise is occurring. I don't see how it can be wheel bearings...there is no rumbling noise or roughness at all. But the squeaking is killing me.
I bought a 2012 Hyundai Accent GLS just two days ago. It has about 38,000 miles on it. It's an automatic as well. I drove it home on the highway and was averaging about 44 mpg the entire time. Even while driving in town, it's got pretty good fuel economy. Everything about the car is great.
However, last night, I was driving around. When I came to a stop at a stop sign/red light/etc. and then proceeded to accelerate, I would hear this weird squeaking / creaking sound. I've heard it multiple times now since then. It doesn't do it every single time I accelerate, but when it does, it lasts for about 3 seconds and then stops. I've also noticed it does it sometimes when I make a turn and then accelerate. It's just a squeaking sound.
Is this something I should be concerned about? It doesn't do it every single time I accelerate, but when it does, it will last for about 3 seconds. I should also note that the car made the noise the first night after I had been driving for a while, so the engine wasn't cold or anything.
So originally I was told it was my front brakes going bad, which was the case. To address the issue, I replaced the rotors and pads awhile back and the noise disappeared for a bit. Fast forward a month or so ago and I hear an on-and-off squeaking noise when the brakes are applied. It does not happen every time. Usually when I ease onto the brakes to a slow stop.
Figuring it could be my pads going bad for whatever reason, I decided to check my brake pads and rotors again. No odd signs of damage on the rotors and by the looks of it there was still plenty of pad left. I then sprayed some brake clean assuming it could be dust but there wasn't much.
I have not touched the drums yet but I'm thinking it could possibly be the drums or a bad bearing? The car is a 2012 with 38k miles which is the reason I'm doubtful of it being a bad wheel bearing. What could it be?
I have a 1998 passat 1.8t it has 160k on it. But recently I noticed that when i sit down in my drivers seat it sound liek there is a loud squeak coming from the back of my car. Whats going on.

Sounds similar to the post from AMI for the front suspension because it can also be heard pushing car up and down, jacking it up, and rocking back and forth while tightening lug bolts. See the attached videos. The first one (night time) was made before I took the car to the dealer the first time. Dealer said that I was going too fast over the speed bumps, so I made another video (daytime) showing the speed (10-13 mph). Both times you can hear a squeaking noise coming from the front that I just started hearing last week. The car has only 23,000 miles on it. I bought it brand new back in September of 2010. I don't know what to do because the dealer (of course) says that they checked everything and there is nothing wrong with the car.
What was the cause of it. I can take it to a mechanic and check it myself and then bring it to VW for repairs and telling them exactly what's wrong and why.

When I come to a stop there is a squeaking sound that is difficult to localize. It sounds like a combination of a squeaky rubber bushing and/or squeaky bed springs. The volume is magnified when slowing to a stop in a quiet garage but the best I can do is localize it to "the underside of the car".
View 15 RepliesI have a 2007 Chevy HHR. A couple of weeks ago I had to change the caliper on the driver's side of the car. I had some squeaking after, but bled the brakes and the squeaking went away. The other day I took the caliper off and painted it. I have custom wheels and you can see the caliper plainly, it was rusted so I painted it. Now I am getting the squeaking again, but it stops when I apply the brakes. I bled them again, but still the squeaking. This is driving me crazy. Could it be the "chirper" that is dragging on the rotor? Also I want to add, it squeaks until I get up to about 45 mph. Then it stops. And as I said, it stops when I apply the brakes.
View 6 RepliesI have a 1993 Saturn with very low mileage (roughly 36,000 original miles) that I inherited from my grandma about 5 years ago. Early in the summer (May/June), when I would turn the a/c on, I started hearing a low squeaking/squealing sound when I would come to a stop. When I would start moving, turn off the a/c, put the car in neutral/park, it would go away. Over the past few months, I have noticed the squeaking/squealing getting louder and more so at night when the lights are on and during the day when there is a lot of moisture in the air and it really squeals loud every so often when I start moving from a stop until I hit around 2000 rpm.
The car idles at around 500 rpm and that is when I notice the noise the most. I have checked the belt and it appears to be in good shape (no cracking or fraying, it appears to be dry) and the tension appears to be good and when I got the oil changed last month, the guys at the Valvoline Quick Lube said it looked good as well. With the noise coming more often at night when the lights are on (or during the day when it is raining and I have the lights on), I have thought about taking the alternator off and getting it checked at the local parts store to see if when it gets put under load, it squeals there and to see if it is functioning properly. Could it be the alternator or something else, like the belt?

I also wanted them to check out some squeaking my car was making that was noticeable when coming to a stop in say a parking garage or drive thru, and also the rattling I'm getting from the door panels. When I go to pick up my car, they said that everything was because of my exhaust and that they couldn't do anything about it. They also drove my car over 20 miles and that was the best answer they could come up with? Is it just me or does it seem like they were just joyriding my car? They couldn't even turn off the "service now" reminder. I really dont see how the rattling can be caused by my exhaust when I've brought it in for the same reason before I had the exhaust. What I should do? I mean the door panels rattle when coasting in neutral even, not just when I'm accelerating.
Also have a little squeal when turn the car off? Sounds like a belt to me but not sure.
I took my car in about three months ago when brake indicator started squeaking in the rear. Shop told me that the drums, shoes and wheel cylinders needed replacing. After spending a few hundred replacing all those parts, the squeaking began. It's a kind of rhythmic squeak that starts towards the end of braking. the rate varies with the speed of the car, so it definitely seems to be coming from the brakes. I took it in not long after. They said they only heard a clicking noise, and that was because the brakes were mis-adjusted. They re-adjusted it. I drove it home. The squeaking is still there. This also happens a lot more when it's heated up so maybe that's why they didn't hear it in the first place.
I take the car back. They said the drum has been warped. They replace the drums. I take it home. Still squeaking a few days later, and I feel the brake pedal pulsating now. I take it back in. They say the issue is from the front brake rotors being warped. I get these replaced elsewhere with ceramic pads. Squeaking is still there.
I take it back in to the original shop because I'm certain it's from the rear. They look at it again and say the drums are warped, again, and that they'd never seen anything like it. They turn the drums. (and receipt says there will be no more warranty on the rear drums... what?)
Unsurprisingly, squeaking did not stop, not even the day after. I took it to a different shop. They spent all day on it and drove it around with me and their final word is that the reason for the squeaking is cheap parts. They recommended I call the original shop and ask for factory parts and offer to pay the difference for the parts.
My rear brakes on my 20th are warped and are squeaking like crazy when i come to a stop. I've never had to look at brakes so I don't know what to look for. What are some good replacement rotors /pads for the rear. I just use the car for daily driving nothing crazy.....
