The programmed code inside the smart key could be changed or erased if it is too close to your cell phone(same pocket). As a result u can't start your car any more.
I understand that Nissan has some these cases reported on its smart key(07 G35?) and it issue the statements that the key need to be at least "one inch away" from your cell.
Is it possible to rewire the front power outlet so that it shuts off when I turn off the car or remove the key.
All the new cell phone chargers light up and stay lit up when the car is off because the socket is always powered. It bugs me, though, and I'm getting sick of unplugging the charger every time I shut off the car.
Proud owner of a 2012 Tig! My wife recently got a new cell phone and would like to remove the profile associated with her old phone from the hands-free Bluetooth (the old phone is inoperable). I don't see anything in the menu system. Is there any way to do that?

View 2 RepliesI had to break suddenly last night, and my phone (attached to the AUX cable at the time) bounced up under the wheel, gaining access by the accelerator and break pedals. I can hear it vibrate, but cannot feel the vibrations or touch the phone by reaching up under there - and I am worried I will disconnect the wires if I continue to rummage.
I removed the base of the steering wheel column, but did not find my phone, I guess it is wedged too far into the workings of my car Jeep Compass 2007.
I have two questions. could I remove the plastic facing by the windshield without dismantling the car (I can't tell from the manual)
is it safe to drive with my phone in this position? I'm worried it might disconnect the break fluid or something as I try to drive it to the mechanic.
While I was pulling out my charger from the port of my brand new 2013 Prius Two, the whole plastic housing the auxiliary/charger ripped off. Nothing was damaged, nor was any plastic bits pulled off. View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Honda Civic 2 dr. A couple years ago the manufacturer cell phone charger was blown in a few days of use with the cigarette lighter. The manufacturer replacement was next blown, and then a cheap off-brand was blown. Last fall, turning on the rear defroster began causing static interference on the FM stations. Several months later, I noticed that use of the cigarette lighter as a cell phone charger also caused radio static.
Next week, the rear windshield will be removed and replaced during a body repair. Should I ask for a replacement windshield, or just for attention to the connection with the electric? What else can be done about either of these causes of FM static?
I am a new Prius 2010 owner - One question - I read in the manual you should not carry your remote control near your cell phone since it could cause decrease battery life. Does it matter if cell phone is off? I always carried by Camry remote control in my purse with my off cell phone. Camry is 7 years old and battery still works.

something weird happen to me yesterday. As I was driving home, the dash started to ping at me. It was the red seatbelt sign. I'm like WTF? I started to futz with my seat belt latch with no effect. As I came to a stop, I moved my cell phone. Which was sitting dead center on the passenger seat. The light on the dash went out. I was thinking this was a coincidence. No. I put the phone back in the middle of the seat for giggles. THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON!!!!
What is in the seat that would detect signals from a cell phone?? It's not the weight.
Yesterday from the smart center of Rochester, MN I bought a 2013 Smart fortwo Pure with 19k miles. This evening the Check Engine Light came on and it is code P0455.
No other dash lights are on and I have not even touched the gas cap yet. Should I clear the code? Take it to the dealer? Tow it to the dealer?
I didn't use my Jetta for about 4 weeks and now just noticed that the numbers (miles driven/total miles & time) are blank. There is just a small pixel in the middle of the left display. I checked Fusible 13 and 15 I presume (5A each) and they are ok. No codes with vag com.

(Pushing and holding the button) What my frustration is is that everytime i take a phone call, or everytime i turn off the car, the random setting gets erased and it is back to sequential play. Is there a way to get this to a default permanent setting of "all random".
View 3 RepliesI let my wife drive the car for the past few weeks. This weekend I took it for a 2 hour drive, and I couldn't get my bluetooth to sync with my phone. There is no longer anything related to bluetooth on the display, so I can't even scroll through options to try to sync. The voice command button does not work either, when pushed it does nothing. My car has almost 50k miles so this will not be covered if I take it back to the dealership, so if possible I would like to fix this myself.

My Samsung phone is connected to car via Bluetooth. It seems to work fine. However my phone restarts when I start and turn the car off.
I have the SEL Premium: My wife drove the car several days ago and may have changed some settings and now the phone doesn't even pop up in the informational display. I've done my homework in the manual but can't seem to find the solution. the closest thing I can figure out from the manual is the phone package was turned off? i didn't even know that was possible. of course it says to put the key in the ignition to turn it on or off which as you know you can't do.
View 6 RepliesI would like to be able to charge my phone even when the ignition is turned off. My last car has two power ports, one was switched with the ignition and the other one was always live. It seems in my '14 SE that both ports are switched with the ignition.. I'm actually considering adding a live port to the inside of the glove box.

View 1 RepliesI have recently leased a 2014 VW Wolfsburg Edition Passat. It has the carnet feature on it. I am currently experiencing that my phone is not playing through my Bluetooth setting. I will listen to either spotify, or Pandora. When listening to the streaming music the car will play one song and when it goes into the next song it stops playing all together through the Bluetooth, however it is still playing on the phone. I took it in to the dealership where I got it to service this issue and was given a loaner car. I could play the Bluetooth in the 2013 passat with no issues....but get in my car and it will wither play one or nothing at all! They are saying that there is something in my phone causing this issue. For it to work in my old car no problem, which was a 2011 Jetta, and the 2013 with no problems. So I have a hard time seeing it has to do with my phone. So ok n my phone I did a factory reset....and went back out to the car...and it is still just playing one song and then stopping.
View 1 RepliesJust bought a Certified 2012 2.5 SE about a week and a half ago but I have a question. I've connected my iPhone through the system just fine, but the system automatically added it as a bluetooth media device as well.
The problem is, It automatically starts trying to play music no matter what I'm listening to (usually SiriusXM)... In order to save battery, this pretty much forces me to either;
1) remove the phone from my pocket and turn off the player each time I get in or connect it to the charger cord.
2) Go through the menu and disable to media portion on the MFI.
Trouble is, either method seems to be a temporary turn-off.
My question is this... Is there any way to permanently disable JUST the media portion of the bluetooth connection without disabling the phone part?
I have a 2014 Passat S 2.5 that I drove for a few months before I bought a Tahoe and my wife now drives the Passat. While I had it, it was paired to my phone. However, now that she drives it, every morning when she starts it, my phone buzzes because it's trying to make a connection. I read the manual back and forth, and I found out how to remove it, but unfortunately the MFD display in the middle of the instrument cluster isn't showing any phone info like the manual suggests. I also only have one set of steering wheel buttons, not both. So with this limitation, how in the world do I remove my phone from the stereo pairing?
