I just put on KW v1 coils and 19 inch merc wheels about four weeks ago, and the car shakes over 55 mph. The tires are balanced( had them rebalanced to double check myslef) but I haven't had the car aligned yet. I had coils before or other cars but never had them aligned because of always moving the car up and down and never had the problem of a shaking car. Will getting it aligned fix everything.
View 15 RepliesI just got new rotiform BLQ rims and nexen tires. I have the hub rings and the setup was balanced and aligned (double checked).
Before this I had 3 bent TSW rims and got a pretty bad shake in the wheel around 65-70 mph. Before or after that speed everything is smooth now.
Why would this shake still occur.
I have honda civic 2005 Lx with 170,000 miles. I noticed increased RPM about 1.5 with cold start but no missfire. I attempted to take out ignition coils to see if genuine ones solve the issue. It is very little rainy today with high humidity. After I put new ignition coils, I noticed increased shaking with misfire. I have not touched anything except for putting in/out coils. I ensured the position and connection of the coils. Is this anything with humidity? I did it really quick without much exposure to the rain. How to resolve this issue? at least return to previous condition?

View 6 RepliesI had to have 2 of my coils replaced a few weeks ago... since I got it back, the car is not as responsive as it used to be... I noticed it when i first got it back... it went away, and now it feels that way again. When I hit the gas (Floor it), its like it has to think about whether it wants to produce full power. Can even see the RPMs hesitate just a little.
View 12 RepliesMy 2006 Tucson runs great 99% of the time. Every once in a while though, the rear of the suv shakes as if a tire is about to fall off. It lasts for a few minutes and then is gone until the next episode. I have had the tires and wheels checked and they are fine. The only other issue with the vehicle is a rattle from the rear when going over bumps....as if there is something loose by the spare tire (but there is not). I was told that the bushings needed to be replaced, but that would cause the rattle noise only, not the issue with the shaking. There is no problem with the front end or steering wheel shaking at all, it definitely is from the rear only.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2006 scion xb with 106000 miles. It has 17" custom wheels on it. When I test drove it I noticed some vibration up front and assumed the tires were not balanced good. I rotated the tires and noticed a slight difference but it still shakes around 70-80mph. I cant feel any vibration from the back of the car. Sometimes at 65 mph it's fine, other times it will shake. Since the shake isn't at 65 all the time, could my problem be worn out struts?

Also, plugs had 30k miles on them with original packs. Got it again.
Replaced coil on cylinder 2. Got it again.
Bought Denso double platinums. Got it again.
Moved coil packs around. Misfire on cylinder 4.
Checked plugs, good dry non corroded. Its always 2 or 4.. not 1 or 3
Slow drive with less than 30% gas pedal action it runs "ok". If I go uphill or need to step on it, not happening. Bucks like a mule.
I dont think its the fuel injector... Ordered the red audi packs off europaparts. Might need to check connections. what do i do?
I've been also reading that it could be the cam follower. I'm willing to check it and then force the dealer to fix it under the extended warranty, but if its broken I cant put it back in. The dealer is 50 miles from me.
It happened a morning I was out of gas and used .... regular! But did put in super right after that. I had spare regular gas in a container (fresh) for the generator.
Then used fuel additives. I have also been using fuel additives every other fill up just to protect injectors. I know it wont do anything other than that because of direct injection.
I had a balancing problem with some tires I bought with the car. At about 80 they shook and hard enough to not want to drive at that speed. I replaced them with Falken tires and it was so much better, but......
At 75-82 mph I still have a shake in the steering wheel. I bought the tires from Discount and they claim the rim is bent and they cannot completely balance the tire. I am going back once more to get a definitive response.
I am at a loss at what to do next. My other Lexus was smooth at any speed, even at 90. Smooth. 2007 Lexus es350
My steering wheel on my 2012 Avalon Limited began shaking above 65 mph immediately after the tires were rotated for the first time. The balance was checked, and two new tires were installed. That did not fix the problem. The car also seems to pull to the right. Wondering if the problem are the tires, or an alignment issue.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2002 Subaru Forester with 201,000 miles, it runs great. However, I just put new tires on and I have terrible shaking in both the steering wheel and the seat that was not there prior to the tire change. I went and had them balanced and the mechanic suggested it was maybe a mechanical problem because there is still some shaking. This shaking is also very pronounced when I hit the the brakes but I am pretty sure the brakes are fine because I changed the the entire front brakes, calipers included and the rears last spring. Again, this car is pretty high in mileage and I am pretty sure much of the front end is stock from the factory.

Balance has been checked by two tire shops. I think that the problem is that the deep blocks of tread are "squirming"The tires are surprisingly quiet but unfortunately will have to go.
View 2 RepliesJust wanted to know if its common to see tires on a '06 B6 3.6L with stock 17" wheels, start to hum from scalloping after just 12,500 mi. They sound like a truck with super duty mud tires. These are the stock Michelin HR 17" that came mounted on the car at time of delivery. The car has been to its routine service intervals. No jack rabbiting. Just freeway driving. There's plenty of tread on them, and the noise seems to be coming from all four.

View 2 RepliesAs the weather has been getting warmer lately, I'm about to change over to my summer wheels and tires. First, I'm just wondering when most people who use winter tires on this forum make the change.
On my previous cars, I've just changed over in the fall and spring by myself unless I needed a wheel balance or alignment. With the harsh winter and roads we've had this year, I'm thinking maybe I've hit too many potholes, since I'm noticing a vibration at 140kph (87mph). I got the current OEM rims and winter tires new last October and had them balanced before installing them on the car and I hadn't noticed anything until about 2 weeks ago. The issue did not suddenly show up after hitting a pot hole, but just started happening and becoming a bit more noticeable recently. The weird part is that it seems to be happening only at that specific speed when accelerating, which makes me wonder if its the wheels out of balance or engine/turbo vibrating under load. As you can imagine, if you let off the acceleration at high speeds, the car slows down slowly and the vibration goes away. So it's hard for me to say what the problem is.
When I switch over to the summer wheels and tires, I'm thinking of just changing them myself to see if the same vibration still occurs at the same speed and then deciding on whether to get them balanced or not.
A related issue, which I think some others have posted about on this site has been the wheel alignment. In the last 3 or 4 months, I've noticed that the car has a slight pull to the left under no steering input, so I may have to do an alignment soon.
So had some new shoes but on the car, but the next day after having them installed the air pressure sensor tripped. Anyway i can somehow reset this without a (sigh) trip to the dealer? By the way, yes, I did check the air pressure levels and they are spot on.

Seems as though it can be worse depending on the surface. Comparing the B7 to the wife's Q5 is painful. Heck, even my MKVI GTI was silent compared to this. What do you all is a good fix?

Last week I had new tires installed on my 18" Samarkands and the TPMS light has been on since. I've verified that all four corners have the metal TPMS sensors in place and the tires are at 40psi, spare is 38psi. I have driven over 100 miles since the tire change. In past the light would come on when pressure below 36psi, and would turn off when tires inflated.
Have this problem after a tire change? Are the sensors easily damaged? Discount Tire/America's Tire Store said to bring the car back so they could take a look, but first wanted to get Vortex input.
