My daughter accidentally pulled the emergency latch and now I can't get my trunk to close. I tried pushing the handle back into place to no avail... searched the archives and didn't find anything there either. What I am doing wrong, aside from leaving my 10 year old in charge of closing the trunk??
View 8 RepliesJust replace both ebrake cables, and rear brakes are all new including wheel cylinders and drums. No matter how much i pull up on the handle, the wheels wont lock up, and they should drag the wheels, but nothing. Something wrong? Barely stops car when put in drive too. Seems like my other accent would drag the wheels all over the place.
View 4 RepliesSince the OY recall, the info in my MFD is resetting itself about every 2 hours (avg mpg, time driven, route, etc). It used to only reset when I did it manually, which is what I prefer. How I can change it so it won't reset itself anymore?

View 8 RepliesWhen I release it then start in reverse often the car doesn't move then there is a loud sound from the right rear tire. If I don't engage the brake it reverse fine.I don't know where to start with this. I assume there is a cable going back to the wheel cylinders. Perhaps binding up somehow.

The button is pushed in all the way and will not come back out, so it does not click when the brake lever is pulled up and will come back down when let go of. The brakes do work when the lever is pulled however. Also, keeping the car in 1st gear while parked is alright? Even on a hill?
View 2 RepliesMy mother-in-law moved my car and put the emergency brake on (2010 Santa Fe) when she got out. When I got into drive home, I drove about 10miles with it engaged (for some reason the light didn't indicate it was on). When I got home I noticed a burnt rubber smell from the left rear tire. (no smoke though)
Our driveaway is an incline. After engaging/disengaging the e-brake, the light started coming back on again. If I put the car in neutral and release the regular brakes, it will quickly roll back. If I put the e-brake on in netural and disengage the regular brake, it still holds fine on the hill.
I know the damage can vary, but any test or check I can do to determine the amount of damage?
I got my Passat about 1 month ago, and I have this pull to the right. Which is annoying, as I drive quite a bit on the highway.
At the dealer, they "fixed" it by moving the tires around and matching tires with the same side wall rigidity. I got my car back, and it's still pulling to the right.
I just replaced my steering rack and now I have a strong pull to the right when boost come in.
I am gettin an alignment this week but could an aligned problem cause this?
I transferred my old tie rod ends over to the new set up. They are pretty new.
It's a very similar feeling to when I had a bad control arm bushing. I just replaced a lot if the front end stuff though and this was not happening before the install.
Wanted to ask B6 owners first, from time to time I hear what I think is a backfire after doing a hard pull in 3rd but never in 2nd. Now I'm not sure its a backfire but after I shift to 4th I hear a small pop from the back of the wagon. Don't know if this will happen in 4th after a pull, have not had enough road or balls to do this. ( In Oregon you get a huge ticket and license pulled for 30 days for anything over 100.) Everything runs fine, I only have the Neuspeed intake for the autos and thats it. Any thoughts you B6 owners have B4 I go to the 2.0 fsi page would be great. View 3 RepliesSo I'm working on a customers car, its a 2001 Passat, there is a buzzing sound that started when she would use her left turn signal, and now the sound wont stop, the only way to make it stop is to turn the car off, turn the blinker on, or the flashers. I'm thinking the Turn signal switch inside the steering area.
View 2 RepliesI traded my 08 R32 for a certified 2013 GTI Autobahn 4 dr. and have noticed a few quirks or issues. I have had several Vw's and my wife currently has a 2010 Tiguan SEL awd. The car goes in on the 10th to see what the dealer can find out. I bought the car with roughly 9400 miles and it has 11,300 on it now.
Issue 1 - The passenger side door handle does not pull smoothly to open. When you pull on it it goes about half way and stops and then you have to pull it again or harder. I am thinking it is an alignment issue.
Issue 2 - When i first start driving after the car has sat overnight in the garage or in the parking lot at work I get a swirling sound from the rear brakes. I do set the parking brake every time it is parked. It is almost like the brakes are not releasing all the way or rub for a little.
Issue 3 - This is the one that is odd and concerns me. When i first start driving the car takes several minutes to come up to 190 degrees. I baby the car till it gets up to temp for the turbos sake. But oddly after it gets up to temp with in 5 minutes it is like the thermostat opens and it cools back down to 150-160 and then comes back up to temp. My wife's car does not do this and neither did the 07 Passat 2.0t. Is this common? When talking to the service advisor (who I have been dealing with for a while) he said he has never had this issue come up.
As the title says.... it slipped on a first gear pull and then another time on the highway on the on ramp in high RPM in second....

Do not occurs when accelerating slowly, all day at dealer and they said that might be cam wear or some pressure pump. They are taking the engine covers to find out what is the issue. Cam repair and oil change. It drives smoother and no longer hard down shifting....
View 9 RepliesHow do I remove the trim that's around the pull handle and the lock/unlock button? Not the trim by your belly that has window buttons but the ones that are near your side mirrors. Mine are scuffed to poop and I would like to replace the trim and the lock/unlock buttons.

View 10 RepliesBefore I get started... My truck is a 2006 F-250 Super Duty XLT 6-speed 4x4 with a Limited Slip.
I just got finished with a big job on my truck. New pads all the way around, turned rotors, new emergency brake shoes, hardware, and backing plate as well as replaced the rear wheel bearings both inner and outer as well as the axle o-ring and inner seal. Also, took off the rear pumpkin cover painted it and put fresh fluid in, went with Mobil 1 75W140 LS.
Took it for a drive and the brakes work great. Followed the directions for breaking in the emergency brake which worked fine.
Now the problem is I'm getting rattling from possibly all of the wheels. Definitely from the front driver and at least one of the rear wheels. It was so dark I didn't get a chance to look at it I just pulled it back in driveway.
I'll start looking at things tomorrow but, any common mistakes or things I should check first?
Just filled the Treg for the first time and couldn't figure out how to reset the odometer to zero. I've never encountered a vehicle that didn't have the little button to push next to the odometer for reset.
Also, the "please refuel" warning seems to come up pretty early. As it was the first time for me to fill her up I wasn't sure how many gallons were remaining in the tank. It only required 19.5 gallons to fill so I still had about 5 gallons or so left I guess. I have to admit I liked the fuel pump symbol that popped up to remind me.
One more off-topic observation. I've noticed with my key remote that the hatch release button requires a lot of effort before the thing receives the signal and opens. In fact, the sensitivity of the remote in general appears to be rather weak. I've been accustomed to my Bimmer having a very good keyless entry system where it only required one press of the key from a long distance and no extra effort.
Can the service reminders, such as oil change due now, be reset by us owners? I do most of my own maintenance and am hoping to be able to reset when needed.
