Passat (B6) :: Removing Key Fob While Car Is In Motion?
Jul 1, 2007
What the effect is of taking out the key fob while your car is in motion? I was on the highway once, and my friend asked what would happen if i were to try to take out the key.. I figured to myself, "VW surely must've implemented some sort of safety mechanism..", so i confidently gave it a try.. and to my surprise, the key actually came right out, and my console (speedometer / tach / fuel / engine temp) shut down.. I kinda panicked, and just popped the key fob right back in, and all was well after that.. What is actually going on with the car when you do this?

Drove down yesterday it was drizzling and saw an SUV coming up rapidly behind me. Moved over to the middle lane and opened up as he trid to go past, we go to 130mph before traffic slowed me. As he cruised past in the fast lane I noticed the V10 TDI badge. Over 120 the wind resistance became a factor more for the Touareg than me.

I love this car, but due to it's relative rarity, there don't seem to be too many ways to firm up the ride with some lowering. Eibach does not have a "package" for this model. I was considering getting 1BE springs with Koni FSD's.

I am looking at purchasing a 2003 passat glx 4motion (V6) with 170,000 miles on it for a winter car. The car I'm looking at has been diagnosed with a "rear viscous coupling loose" and a repair estimate of $1700 to fix. The car will be priced accordingly but I'm curious if this is something that I can repair myself and save a few beans.
I am pretty handy with repairs so that's not too big of a problem. I've been searching the forums and can't seem to find anything on this problem. Is this in the rear differential or is it a part of the Torsen center diff?
The car also has a clogged heater core, I've located plenty of info on this site on how to repair this so that won't be to hard.

I just replaced pads and rotors on my 2000 Passat GLX. Everything went fine, i got done, pumped the pedal 10-15 times, took it for a test drive. When I depress the pedal, it goes all the way to the floor, the car pulls right, then left, and slowly stops. At this point, if I hit the brakes again, it feels normal.
I figured it just needed a few minutes, I drove it for about 45 minutes, and it never got any better. I have changed the brakes several times before and never seen anything like this before.

My ride is 06 Passat v6 4motion. I got 45K on it.
Last night, when I came back home, I could not pull out my key from dash. I tried several times to pull out my key but to fail. So I left my key in the ignition hole and locked my car using spare key. This morning, I tried again but still stuck in dash.
What is worse is that when I arrived dealer shop for that problem, I could pull out my key from dash!

I know that the rear emblem is two pieces, I want to color match the black to silver then black out the VW. Is there a way to just take off the silver VW without removing the whole thing off the back?? If so, how?

I am installing the wiring for trailer lights in my 2007 B6 wagon. I need to remove the interior trim panels for this, but I can't find any diagrams or DIYs on where the screws or clips are. I don't want to just go at it and end up putting pressure in the wrong places and breaking clips.

I thought i would waste my weekend trying to put my katzkin interior in, its proving to be a lot harder than i thought. I've been searching this but haven't been able to find the details on how to take the bottom of the backseat out. its hinged and folds forward, but i don't see any screws to take it out. this is obviously different from a sedan. there is a plaistic cover over the hinge and there are no screws under there either. this is a 1999 wagon. also where do I get this 12 point torx to dismantle the front seats? i just took the front seat out and took it half apart only to put it all back together again.....

How to remove the rub strips to the center of the bumper, next to the front blinkers? I have removed the grill for the foglights, then the blinker assembly, and then what? Does the bumper need to come off in order to remove it from the back of the bumper?

I have a 2014 Passat S 2.5 that I drove for a few months before I bought a Tahoe and my wife now drives the Passat. While I had it, it was paired to my phone. However, now that she drives it, every morning when she starts it, my phone buzzes because it's trying to make a connection. I read the manual back and forth, and I found out how to remove it, but unfortunately the MFD display in the middle of the instrument cluster isn't showing any phone info like the manual suggests. I also only have one set of steering wheel buttons, not both. So with this limitation, how in the world do I remove my phone from the stereo pairing?

I read up in an article I searched that removing the ABS fuse disables the traction, ESC, ABS, all that stuff. Is there a way that I can disengage my traction control and ESC without taking a fuse out if that is even possible?

My DDM HIDs came in the mail today and fellow vortexer D.Passat00 was kind enough to meet up with me and do the needed vag-com adjustments. So firstly a shout out to him, he's a solid dude and really nice
Now: Is there a DIY for headlight removal? I can't seem to find one, and without removing the headlights I'm afraid there just isn't enough room to install the new HID bulbs without dinging/touching them.
I have a 2010 2.0t Passat and I got the 35w 6000k DDM HID kit
