Passat (B6) :: Low Tire Pressure Alert, Message Appeared
May 24, 2011
Got a low tire pressure alert this morning. Was running late for work and the tires weren't noticeably low and work is only 5 miles away so I decided to do it after work. Went to the gas station to get some air and all the tires were at 33 ish and one was at 20. Filled it up and drove for about 25 minutes but the error light never came off.

I have changed the original tyres and rim under my B6 Car, and i have this information displayed,Low tire pressure, i have tried my best to deactivate that light but still it comes on. i Bought rim 17, and the tyre size is 215/50/17, that is a sports tyre, and the previous rim size is 16 and the tyre size is 215/55/16.. Now i dont know why the new rim shows low tyre pressure, I have taken it to the dealer for decoding but still its on. Where exactly this sensors that detect the pressure of the tyres are located, the rear side of the passenger trunk was jamped before or had being hit before and i changed the master disk, i don't know if that is what is causing this. I really want to know where exactly this sensors are located.

My local dealer (who seems very good) suggested they repair an oil leak at the timing chain cover before my 60K warranty expired. Kept the car 2 days waiting for parts. Then some very odd problems developed.
First I noticed the AC wasn't working: fan runs but will not blow cold. Dealer said must be something else because they didn't touch the AC. Then after a half hour of driving the AC suddenly starts blowing cold.
Maybe an hour of driving later, the dash beeps, alerts, and "low oil pressure" comes on the screen. Shut it off & have it towed to dealer.
While checking the mileage at the dealer, the service adviser and I both see the dash beep, alert, and ABS and Trak alarms go off.
Tech resets the computer but says he can't find any error codes. Systems and oil pressure all seem ok.
I drive 10 min, and.... beep, alert, "low oil pressure".

The wifes 2010 taurus popped up a tire pressure alert and she took it to our tire guy and he added some nitrogen, but didnt get rid of the alert. It is a solid icon, not blinking.
So we took it to the Ford dealer and they went around and checked the pressure.
Then two guys got into the car three times, and we could see the seat going back and forth. What the heck?
Well the 3rd time fixed the alert. I am sure they know of some button sequence to do this. Is it a secret diagnosis you can bring up?

In our 2005 Chrysler Town & Country Touring Minivan, the tire lite on the dashboard came on last night and the following message appeared on the overhead console: "Service Tire System Soon". I filled all the tires to specs, but the light and message remain. The lite on the dash goes out, but the message stays on. Has a tire pressure sensor failed? If so, how does the mechanic know which one? Finally, how much does a tire pressure sensor cost?

Took our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan to a tire shop today. One sensor battery is completely dead, and when replaced, the other 3 batteries were too weak remove the alert from the information panel. Cost to repair all 4 is $400. Decided to live with the alert and they graciously put the bad sensor back in. Is there any way to disable the system? I check tire pressures regularly anyway. The continuous alert is agrivating.

It's actually my dad's car, me and him both got VW the same day, labor day. me an R32 and he got a 08 passat 2.0t. First off, the car is a daily driver, currently has 19xx miles on it. it was bought brand new with 14 miles on it and has no mods.
Beginning of this week, the oil pressure alert comes on. We check the dipstick and it is bone dry. We add enough oil so that it levels off at the center/midpoint on the dipstick. Now end of this week, after about 300-400 miles, we check and the level is under the minimum, there is no leakage anywhere underneath the engine, no leaks from the oil drain screw or filter.
It doesn't puff black smoke, but that doesn't mean it still doesn't burn oil. i looked at the exhaust tips, and alot of black soot around the tips and on the outside/inside of the tips. I'm saying it has to be something internally wrong, pistons rings/seals damaged, installed wrong? I mean, where is this oil going! It's a brand new freakin car and this happens? Would this be a factory defect?

Just had this error come up in the MFD sat nite. Steering column locked up, had to pull key out and re-start. Everything was fine after that. I did have the same error about 2 years ago when I first bought it. Should I bring it up to the dealer, or just forget about it since it hadn't come back.

Purchasing snow tires with OEM rims and trying not to have to purchase a new set of wheel pressure sensors - hence my question: Can the wheel air pressure sensor alert be disabled to do away with that nagging info?

So I was driving my cousin's Passat 1.8t gls with tip the other weekend when we went to the cottage and I got a strange message in the dash that first said STOP in big letters then Oil Press Stop Engine then Service Manual. So I immediately stopped the car. Checked the oil, it was completely full, looked around didn't see any oil on the bay so I called my cousin and he said its been doing that for a while and sometimes it says Brake Failure and I could keep driving no problem. On the drive home (3 hours) this was happening nonstop.

I bought a used 2011 Ford Escape Ltd. which now has 21000 miles on it. The tire pressure sensor indicated a tire was low (it was), and I filled it. Now I intermittently get a message of "Tire pressure sensor fault." The dealer checked it when they changed the oil but it's still coming on, usually when I'm at high speed. It goes off again by itself. Is it important for me to do something?

How to shut off the Low Tire Pressure message? My tires are at 65-70 pounds and the message still shows up at every start up.

Got a 'Tire Pressure Sensor Fault' message a few times on the way back from Florida. Tire pressures were all fine. Hate that it doesn't say which monitor has the problem. Anyway... it comes on, but after a few minutes goes back off. Saw it a total of three times over the course of 1,000 miles in two days. Is this the sensor failing and requiring replacement? Or is the system itself starting to fail? Would ESP cover this?

This is the third time my TMPS light and "Low Tire Pressure" message have popped on... I have checked all (4) tires and they are still exactly where I had them inflated several weeks back when I went through this the last time. What the threshold pressure is to set the TMPS warning off? I do run about 10psi lower than the door sticker because the door sticker pressure was too much and wearing the center of my rear tires... I just find it odd and frustrating that there are no problems for a period of time, and then all of a sudden I have to go through and over-inflate the tires for a few miles for the TPMS sensors to reset and clear the light, and then drop back down to where I need them for proper tire wear and it seems OK for weeks, and now here we go again

is there a way to make a text message make a sound alert? It will pop up for just a couple of seconds saying "new text message" but if I happen to miss that message. Just wondering is there a way to make it chime or something?

For the last several days, most of the times I've started my car I've had the Red "Check Coolant Level" message on the MFD - accompanied by a tone / chime.
The first time it happened, I was a tad below Min, so I added a 'glug' of G13 to push it back up into the normal range. Everytime I've checked it since, the level is in the normal range.
So how is the level "sensed"? I had a new coolant reservoir put in about 18 months ago, so my "hope" is that it's not actually that (though those are really cheap).
Is there something else I should be cleaning / renewing? Maybe as simple as the electrical connection on the reservoir?

I have a 2003 1.8L Volkswagen Passat which I hate to say I've been lax on taking care of. In the past year I've been good about getting the oil changed and using fully synthetic oil. I am now getting an error message that says STOP Check Oil Press. Stop Motor. I took the car to my mechanic who can't tell me exactly what's wrong. From what I'm reading here, it looks like I'm dealing with "sludge."
My car is at a little over 60,000 miles and I'm wondering what to do. I don't mind spending the money to fix the car, but I really don't know how to figure out exactly what's going on, and what I should do. The mechanic I took the car to is going to completely empty the oil and then get a gage of the true oil level...

As I was getting on the highway today, I heard a loud warning bell and my MFD displayed "Oil Pressure High. ENGINE OFF!". It lasted all of 5 seconds and then disappeared. Car seemed fine (other than the usual ticks and annoyances).

I got this message on the information display when I turned off the car after an hour of drive. I'm guessing it refers to the key getting low on battery but why only after 2 months.
