Passat (B6) :: How To Route Wires For Headrest Monitors
Mar 8, 2011
Since my daughter has been complaining for lack of entertainment in the rear-seat while traveling, so rather than purchase a mobile DVD, headrest monitors seemed to make a better investment.
Today I took the headrest out of the drivers side to take some measurements and see if I can route wires through them, to under the seat. Didn't look likely. I also did not see any seat opening at the rear of the front seats.
I have heated seats so I don't wanna mess-up that aspect of these seats. Is there any way to route the wires without tearing up the seats. How this can be done. I want to get this info before ordering the monitors.

I own a 2005 RX330.Ultra Premium I purchased it used 3 years ago. I have never had any problem with the icon on the dash which lights up when air pressure in tires is low.(Canadian cars have no buzzer, just the icon) The other day while watching my tires get changed from snow tires to all weather, I noticed there were no monitors in the wheels. So the icon lights up when you turn on the key but goes out when the car starts. I own two other Lexuses where the monitors fail occasionally. I would just remove the monitors in the wheels rather than trying to disconnect wiring in the dash

Today I ran into a problem while i was changing my spark plugs ...two of the plugs were completely covered in oil. I mean oil was literally dripping off those plugs. I have a Passat 1999 2.8L V6. What could be wrong.

One of the main on going problems I've had with my 2004 W8 is that the fuel injector wires have been failing, one at a time, a few months apart. So far 5 of the 8 have been replaced. (Actually they weave in an overlay wire set). Four were fixed under the factory warranty, and one was done after 50,000 miles with a (very) small amount of that cost covered by my Warranty Direct extended warranty.
In any case, a few days ago another wire failed. This time completely, causing one cylinder not to fire at all. (The previous times the failed wire just caused intermittent mis-fires). Anyway, this time VWoA got involved and has decided to replace the whole fuel injection wiring harness, on their dime! Even though I have 65,000 miles on the car.

I have a 2015 F-250 with the bare essentials. It's built like a work truck but we use it as our everyday vehicle traveling around in Detroit.
That being said, there's a draft down by our legs that we've noticed for some time, but now it's really something I feel could use addressing because it just leaks in cold quite a bit. The draft feels like it's coming in from the front engine compartment/dashboard area.
Is what I'm experiencing common with this kind of truck and is there a fix, or way to stop that draft coming in? I feel this was just one of those things that wasn't really given much consideration as a work truck, similar to the fact there's no cabin air filter, but I'd really like to know if there's a way to somehow reduce the amount of air into the cabin compartment.

What is the easiest way to cancel a route once you've entered the address? I like to enter some addresses ahead of time, but not necessarily want to go right away? Is it 'postpone route'?

I use a vent mount for my phone and my old car had the aux-in by the radio so I used a little retractable cable to my phone. Now in the prius the aux-in jack is way in the back of the arm rest what is the best way to route the cable there?
No nav, so no bluetooth streaming for me.

I have a 2000 motorhome on a f450 chasis. It has a V-10 with only two oxygen sensors up-stream from the catalytic converter. The monitors for the oxygen and oxygen heater sensors will not show "ready". I replaced both sensors and have driven it over 200 miles. They still show "not ready".

How to tilt or bend the headrest to make it tilt back about 1". I also thought of removing some padding. I deal with it right now by putting in the headrest backwards. It makes for a pain in the neck on long trips. I can't believe they did not make it adjustable. I have the SE V6 with leather.

I am installing a wiring harness in my 2007 Camry SE so that I can tow a small flatbed utility trailer I have to carry my kayak on trips. I have the wiring harness all installed except for I now have to route the power cable for the harness from the trunk to the battery in the front of the car. The instructions give no suggestions on how to get the wire to the battery other than to avoid hot parts and suspension parts.
What would be the best and easiest way to get the wire to the front? I'm not well versed in car mechanics or how to take things apart so I would prefer the easiest, most direct way if there is one.
I have already found a grommet in the trunk with a factory wire harness going through it to the bottom of the car so I can route my wire through there, but after that where to go next. The only thing I can think of is there is several brackets holding the 2 fuel lines and the 2 rear brake lines, there is a open spot between the 2 fuel lines so I could use the empty spot in those brackets to hold the wire for most of the way to the front, do fuel lines get hot at all? Do you think it would be safe to route the wire that way?
As for getting into the engine compartment, how to do that without getting in the way of the front suspension while keeping the wire away from the transmission and axles.
If this is too complicated to do myself, my dad has a friend who is a electrician and likes to restore cars that could do it for me but he is almost always busy, thus hard to get a hold of and I like to try and learn some things about my car and do as much as I can on my own.
This is the trailer light wiring harness I have, there is a link for the instruction manual there too

Is there a way to determine the distance to a city on the NAV route that occurs before the final set destination city?

I accidently press on the suspend route and not it doesn't navigate for me. I know its just as simple as pressing the option but its "frozen". So lost without the navigation system.

Getting used to my new-to-me 2012 Prius, and my nav does something weird and hoping the experts here can tell me if this is an antenna issue or a nav system issue. So I know where to focus.
Sometimes I'll be on the freeway and the nav suddenly thinks I've moved off the freeway to a parallel location just off the freeway and starts reroute me all over the place. Similarly I might be on the freeway and it suddenly tells me to get off the freeway when I'm miles from my destination and there's no reason to be getting off.
Thoughts on how I can fix this?

I bought 2000 Ranger with rear half of the frame cut and welded.
The mechanics who did this did terrible job of putting things where they belong. I rerouted wiring harness and rebuilt EVAP lines, but cannot figure out what is the correct route for parking brake cable.
Currently some part of the parking brake cable is sitting on the leaf spring. It may also be missing some mounting brackets or clips. Looking for a picture or diagram showing parking brake cable routing?

I'm trying to take out the rear center headrest and I can't for the life of me work out how. Holding the button on the leg collar down only lets me raise it by about half an inch.

Search did not yield useful information, maybe I used the wrong search terms?
Is there an easy way to remove the headrest mounts, e.g. the parts at the top of the setback into which the headrest bars slide?
Also curious on how to remove the seat latch release knobs on the tops of the rear seats.
Replacing factory leather with a Street Wire leather kit due to a tear.
(Once leather kit is swapped out I will have the torn panel replaced and will offer the factory leather kit for sale.)

My rear seat headrest on one side is always up, and I can hear a motor running in the rear seat back whenever the engine is running. Shut the engine off, and the head rest remains up. I couldn't push it down with any reasonable amount of force. Does it need a complete headrest motor, or can the existing one be repaired?

I am trying to install a pair of headrest screens in my 02 and can't seem to fish the wire down the seat. I have removed the hog rings at the bottom of the seat but when I try fishing a wire coat hanger down from the top I am hitting something about 5" down and can't get past it. I am a little leery of removing the leather seat cover (especially since I don't know what I am doing).

My 04 was in for blown subwoofer replacements. After that, the drivers headrest is not working. I suspect one of the techs might have been leaning on the switch and fried the motor. All other seat functions are OK. Is there a separate (buried) fuse for the headrest motor? Is it next to impossible to get to?? Also, I'm going to start trying to dissasemble the dash to get to the A/C vent cover motors. I have parts ordered, and I'll try to keep you all informed. Should be interesting.

i am going to install built in DVD headrest monitors into my 2007 touring prius. I have posted questions about this before, but looking fopr detailed info on how to install these myself. Ive been told there is an amp under my drivers seat where i can do all the wiring, but I am not sure & don't want to screw things up. How to do this or has a wiring guide or anything like for this, that be real useful. Also, how to get the seat back off to feed the wires down, let me know that as well. I have the leather interior & the seat backs seem seamless. Its the power acoustik HDVD-9 model twin monitors.
