So the service reminder came on this past Saturday, went to the dealer and had them check it out. No issues and they said they reset it. I was driving home last night and it came back on. Should I be concerned the reminder came back on? The car ahs 18K miles and the 20K service was done prior to me purchasing the car. Vehicle is a 2012 Passat SE.
View 1 RepliesOK, I couldn't take it any more, I took my 2010 III Prius in for the oil/tire rotate and had them change the backup beep to one, how nice. Within three minutes of driving from the dealer, I knew something was different, it wasn't acting the same, in eco mode it acted more like power mode. I noticed my normal driving was giving me lower mileage, seems like the engine is running longer etc.
I took it back and they said no way the beep change would have done that, yeah I agree, but something changed. When in eco mode, if I am running along at a low speed and step on it, it gets up like power mode almost, it never did that before. They had it a couple hours, ran full diagnostics on it, nope, nothing wrong. It's almost like something go changed, upgraded to pep it up, yet it's yanked about 6-7 miles per gallon from me.
Okay, to start i've disconnected my rain sensor so i do not have auto wipers, instead the wipers are intermittent when in the first, AUTO, position. with that being said....
When I was driving and had the LOW wiper position selected (not AUTO) and the wiper speed dial set to (-) , when the car comes to a stop or is parked, the LOW wipers switch to intermittent where they will pause in the (-) dial setting, for about 2.5 seconds. if the dial is set to (+) you do not notice this happening as the wipers re-engage too quickly. and then once you start moving again, the wipers return to the LOW setting and run continuously.
Does it also happen when your rain sensor still works? My guess is it's a luxury function so when you are nto moving, less rain hits the water, and you don't have to deal with wipers on a drier windshield making the low squeegee noise.
I have been having problems with audio playback when using my iPhone connected via the USB port. I recently learned about the Service Menu so I was messing around with it and I found two codes for the USB BOX stored they are B1585 and B15DF. What they mean but I think it could be related to my problem. Need to interpret those codes, so I can be more informed when I take the car in to the dealer.
Here is how I got to the codes, entered the Service Menu, selected Failure Diagnostics, then System Check. In System Check Mode I had a USB BOX fault indicated I selected that then on The Unit Check Mode Screen it displayed the two USB BOX fault codes above in the In Memory (stored code) section. There were no current codes listed.
Problem 1: Headlight switch occasionally needs to be jiggled to get headlights on.
Problem 2: Wipers only work in the "spray and wipe" mode.
My Solution: Removed dash, installed new switches, replaced dash.Result: Now the right headlight does not come on at all. Wipers STILL only work in the "Spray and wipe" mode.
Question: Where do I go from here?
Turn wipers on and motor growls but wipers do not move, checked 30 amp fuse and it is good, all other functions of the multifunction switch are good.
View 2 RepliesSo I have two things I want to "fix" on my Passat:
1) Is there a way to turn off the "oil change" service warning message permanently? The dealer can do it but they want $46 every time And there is no way I will do that. I change the oil and filter myself.
2) When I lock my car the lights flash and the horn honks, is there a way to turn off the horn?
Used to have the wipers move up or down about 1" at stop lights to reverse the blade and extend their life. Now, that doesn't seem to happen. I went into the convenience settings some time ago, but don't believe I changed anything relating to this.
View 4 RepliesI'm at work, went out at lunch and the wipers are completely inoperable.
They worked on the way in now i get nothing, the washers work, Fuse 31 appears fine but I get nothing, no noise, no hum, nothing.
windshield wipers stopped working after driving through a large puddle.
View 1 RepliesI installed the DDM kit this morning and did the coding for drl and bixenon and now my wipers don't work.
View 3 RepliesI had a new windshield installed today. After the install was completed, I checked the wipers, and they no longer work. I called the installers, they came back and took the arms off and put them back on. All wires appear connected, though I have not checked voltage. I have no rain sensor. The rear wiper still works. It's an oem windshield...
View 8 RepliesStarted the car up this morning, went to turn on the windshield wipers to remove dirt from the window and they did not turn on. What possibly could be the issue?
View 9 RepliesI recently got my 40k service done at a VW dealership. This morning, my check engine light came on.
View 11 RepliesHow do I remove the service light after an oil change?
View 5 RepliesHow to use VAG-COM to reset the service interval display in a Passat B5 or if there is a combo for doing it.
View 3 RepliesHaving a strong odor/smell in there car after service at the dealer? I have a strong smell as if someone sprayed an aerosol can in the car or a marker was left without the lid on it. It has been 2 days since the service and the smell is still there. I called the dealer and they said they would take a look at it, but they didn't know what it would be. I though it might be the adblue since they did refill it, but I don't think that stuff has this strong of a smell and the filler is in the trunk area.
View 15 RepliesI have only had my car for about a month and i just realized that my wipers don't work. The mist setting, and constant 1 and 2 work also. But when i set it to the rain sensing mode and move the lever either way it will not work even in a down pore.
View 12 RepliesLast week I tried to use my wipers and it seemed like they were stuck, I turned them off, it wasn't that bad but since then I tried to use them even when it was a lot warmer and could not have been frozen and they don't move at all now. What steps should I take to check all the ins and outs?
View 1 RepliesWhat is the size I would need to pursue this?
