I keep losing pressure in my left front tire. I've filled this tire about 5 times in the past 3 months compared to just once (the first time) in the other 4 tires (3 plus spare.) Dealer is trying to sell me on nitrogen and says that this is a common issue with air and TPMS but everything is normal, but I know it isn't. If it was then I'd have to refill the other tires too, but I only have to refill just this one.
View 7 RepliesI have the bsh pcv fix and since the valve in the breather was making that noise, I busted the valve out.
Now I think I have a small boost leak somewhere and would like to pressurize the system but what do I use to block off the breather tube now that the check valve is gone?
I hear a little horn like toot sound around 5psi. Almost like letting a balloon full of air fly around letting the air out. How to describe it. Pretty sure it's a leak.
2012 Elantra GLS. Wife comes home and says the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) light on the dash is lit. I check the tire pressure. None abnormally low but I decide to top them off. Notice that two of the valve stem caps are broken. The tips are broken off so I can see the little red gasket. On opposite sides of the car. No damage to the wheel covers. The valve stems don't stick out past the wheel covers so I wonder how the caps could have gotten broken. Could that be why the TPS system is giving me a warning? If by chance there was a pressure issue does the light reset itself or does the dealer have to do it?

On Friday (outside temperature 2 degrees), my TPMS started alarming the usual (CHECK TYRE PRESSURE). So I looked at the display and all four "tyres" had an exclamation point. So I took out my $1 tire pressure gauge and all four tires were 44 psi. After re-setting the TPMS, all is back to normal.
I wonder what happened there?
Just a little PSA, if your TPMS light shows up, and all the tires (including the spare) are at the proper psi, check the button below the glove box. As long as the warning light is solid, its likely someone pushed the button. I almost paid $120 in diagnostic fee and $150 for a new sensor at the dealer because for some reason, no one knew about this button, or didn't want to tell me.
View 5 RepliesI just bought my Toyota Prius about 3 months. First time I change the engine oil for this car at Jiffy lube and I replace with platinum synthetic oil. After I changing the oil for a week, my has red triangle light, VSC, tire pressure, and check light on. I can not use my cruise setting.My hybrid battery show on the LCD screen charge full very quick and it show the battery is fully charged all the time. When I drive my car for about 15 minutes, it cannot be accelerated and it run like very slow. When it happened, in the LCD screen, the battery was not being charged and did not supply the power to the engine. Then, I had to stop my engine and start the engine again. Then, it run like normally and after about 15 minutes, it run very slow. I feel very sad about this and I think I will need to replace my hybrid battery and transmission.
View 7 Replies I have been dealing w/ a broken gas gauge for a while and have been monitoring my mileage and fill-ups and have been able to calculate my gas usage pretty well, however sometimes I may get a little lost on where my level is at. I just recently have been using a long plastic tie strap that reaches the end (I think) of the gas intake and I believe hits the gas tank. (Its goes in about 4' and I cannot push it any further at that point)
My question is when it comes up w/ no gasoline on it I am wondering how many gallons are remaining. Looking at a diagram of the gas tank it looks concave, where some of the gas may sit lower that where my tie hits. But I am almost certain that I have at least a few gallons remaining. For safety and other reasons this is not something that I am doing often, its just in this case I am a few miles from a gas station so I do not want to risk it.
I recently had a check engine light come up on my 2004 r32. Dealer told me that the secondary air pump is broken and needs to be replaces, codes that came up were p1432, p1423, and p1411.
I replaced the pump and the next day I heard the "vacuum" sound of the air pump so I know that it works. A day later my check engine light come on again, and I cannot hear the pump anymore.
Now I just changed the pump, not even the rubbery inserts as I didn't know. The pipes seemed to be fine. I checked the quote from the dealer and they also mentioned that the intake pipe is broken, part number 1J0-131-128-AB.
Is that one of the pipes that is connected with the secondary air pump or it's the main intake pipe??? If it's from the main intake, is it possible that the secondary air pump want work because of that???
Should I change the rubbery inserts on the secondary air pump??? Is it safe to drive until I take care of this?
While driving our new B7 tonight, the tpms light came on. I checked the pressure when we got home (tires were still very warm) and all read 36lbs. They all read 34 when I checked last week. Why the tpms light is still on??
View 2 RepliesSo I'm one of the lucky few that ended up in the middle of the arctic blast that nailed the US. My wonderful Passat though seemed largely unscathed as I never had any trouble starting it, no rough idle, and no transmission slips or stutters. I did however feel the issue of the TPMS light.
First day when it registered -14F on the dash the light was on (and MFD says "Tire Pressure Too Low"). I quickly hopped out and grabbed my gauge and checked the tires. Fronts were at 28lbs and backs were between 30 & 32lbs (exactly what I have them normally set at), so I figured that the sensors just got frozen and went on with my day.
Now the weather has warmed up (about 40F) and the damn light is still on... I've checked the pressure's again and everything's about the same (within 2lbs). Is this normal for these things to be this temperamental? I'd love to just do the TPMS delete.

Got in the car and the light came on along with "TIRE PRESSURE TOO LOW", so I went to the gas station and it's got a very NICE air machine. You dial in the PSI (in my case 33 according to door sticker) and it beeps when you've reached the specificed air pressure.
All 4 tires look good and I can't see any visible nails. I've drive about 60 miles on it after I aired them back up with no visible loss in pressure.
Running the OEM ContiSports and OEM "Fat 5" wheels. I haven't modified a thing on the car.
I looked in the manual and it was like "go to an authorized VW shop" and I'm like. What do I do to get the light to go off AND to know which tire was low.
i just got the vag cables, and i dont know how to use it that well yet. how to disable the tpms light , and the mfd low tire pressure.

View 4 RepliesBought new tires for car. the original tires that came with the car were 16s. i bought her some 18s awhile back and got the tires installed. In the door jam the tires PSI are supposed to be 33psi, but then again tha'ts for 16" rims. well i was slowly bumping up the pressure in each tire and got all the way to 40psi and the light is still on in the dash. What am I doing wrong for this sensor not to turn off. I know 40psi is too much, I am going to let some out but I am getting frustrated with this light on the dash.

Well Saturday I start my car and i have a tire pressure low warning lit up in the MFD (no TMPS light lit up just the words in the MFD)
Due to laziness i didn't check anything till today, had the warning every time i started the car
We have just started having cold nights, so I figured i check the PS anyway today and im at 22 PSI all around. Odd that i was notified with no TPMS.
I added air to 32 PSI all around and the warning stayed on until i left the car for about 30 min then the warning was gone.
This is for 2012 Passat TDI SE
Month or so a go, my TPMS light came on. I checked the tires and they looked ok, and pressure was close to 32 psi which is recommended (pressure sticker on the door jamb). Tried resetting multiple times following the instructions provided in the user manual by pressing the TPMS reset button located in the glove compartment. Light still on. Tried clearing with VAG-COM and no success. Keeps saying check your tires and light is on.
I have read on various posts to pump the tires to 37-40psi. Tried that and no luck. Then I found someone saying on the forums that there is an issue where the TPMS gets some how recoded to 5.5 bar instead of 2.3 bar and that is why the light wont go away. How to recode TPMS to correct value
How can I get rid of that stupid light "tire pressure too low" how to disable both the light and the message on dash??
View 5 RepliesThe manual doesn't have much in regards to the TPMS in our cars. I'm wondering what happens when the warning light goes on, meaning let's say I just need to add some air to a tire. Do I just add more air, and the warning light goes away? I'm coming from a Bimmer where I had to reset the warning and re calibrate the tires after filling it with adequate air. The way the manual make it sound, I have to go to the dealer? Is this right? Also, I'm looking at some aftermarket wheels that I know are compatible with out tpms sensors. Once the new wheels and tires are mounted with the OEM sensors, do I need to reset anything on the TPMS in the car?
