Passat (B6) :: Gurgling Sound At Low RPMs Then Goes Away Like Nothing Happened
Mar 14, 2012
I have a 3.6 4Mo always maintained on time and everything but recently, in the middle of 1000 and 2000 rpm's, it makes this weird gurgling sound, ONLY in that range, mostly around 1500. But after i accelerate out of that rpm range, it goes away and sounds perfect, immediately, like you changed a channel on TV.

This is weird, im having problem starting the car just after filling up my tank, this is the third time it happened to me, i have the engine light on, i want to scan it but im unable to cuz my abs module is bad, i drive a 98 passat 1.8T, Just clarified I'm only unable to start the car right after I fill my tank aftert that the car starts with no problem
i always use SUPER, the only way to start it is while turning the key hit the gas pedal making it go brum brum lol. But like i said i only have difficulties starting the car right after fueling after the car starts the car is fine, it starts every morning untill i visit the gas station again...

I've noticed when running the A/C I get a noticeable change in sound like a gurgling water sound from the engine bay, there also is added vibration that I can feel on the wheel. I really only get it in drive while at a standstill e.g. at the drive thru. When the car is in park it goes away so I haven't been able to pop the hood and try to pin point the location of the sound. Idk if its from a/c compressor or is just a funky idle note that's produced when idling.

I hear a slight gurguling sound coming from the engine when I first start it up and drive out of my driveway. My street has a slight incline (not much) and I'm usually driving in the up hill direction when I hear it. What could that sound be? I have a 2001.5 automatic V6 Passat.

I came across this issue in my Sonata Turbo. At 5K+ RPMs, I can hear a sort of gurgling/rattling sound coming from the engine. Its concentrated on the driver's side behind the firewall. It goes away immediately once I drop below 5K RPMs. It isn't too loud; I didn't notice it up until now because I usually have some music going.
This is my first Turbo that I have ever owned. That would make sense because it only engages at high RPMs. My car has 3K miles on it. Been loving it so far!

I did an earlier post that the engine in our 2006 would make a gurgling sound for up to a minute after the engine was shut off. I received some replies, mostly saying that this noise was normal.
Well, the other day I decided to check the fluid level in the radiator's reservoir & it was low so I filled it and ---- the gurgling noise has stopped.
Could this gurgling just be a warning that the radiator's fluid is a bit low? So far, this filling has worked for us !! I'd bet that this is rarely checked by any dealer during an oil change?

I started hearing a gurgling sound from under the hood of my car. It sounds like some sort of fluid rushing. Today, I noticed that my car was overheating. I took to have the coolant topped off. The guy there said that it was probably a radiator leak because the radiator was "sweating". It's still making the same sound and but isn't currently overheating. What could be the causes of all this and is it worth repairing in such an old car? It's starting to seem like it's time to get a newer car.

It is a 2002 Camry XLE 4 cyl with 175000 miles. I have been using this car since 2002.
When I turn on the car in the morning, I hear gurgling sound somewhere in the front. Also when I stop and then accelerate the car I hear the sound like water flowing. What is it?

I was driving down the road tonight and have been hearing a hissing sound when accelerating and when I went out to get it audio of it to send to the VW dealer, I heard a loud noise, and now it sounds like I don't have an exhaust, the rpms aren't raising no where near what they should be, and have a gaseous smell.

Sometime back my 2007 had it's water pump replaced free. Some time later I noticed a gurgling sound when I accelerate. It has been too long to get it fixed free. I assume it is air in the system. I have spent 45 minutes searching the web, but I haven't hit on the right search terms.

2007 Subaru Outback, 110 K mile sI drive 200 miles each way, once a week to DC on Sunday and back home to the mountains of Western MD on Friday. All problems happen on that long drive, not on local trips. Only happens when I'm driving in the mountains.
Symptoms: Sometimes overheats (needle gets close to red area, but not quite into it). I pull off and stop the engine for 5 minutes, start the engine, and needle goes to normal area. This happens only after driving about 2 hours. Continue the trip without problem. Never had to stop more than once.
A/C sometimes doesn't cool. Harder to tell now that it's cooler outside, but it put out only warm air one day two weeks ago. The next morning, it worked fine. Heat does not work very well. Set at max (85), the air coming out is barely warm. Also, the passenger side is colder than the driver (dual controls, both set at 85).
May not be related, but I can hear a sound like water gurgling when the engine is running. It's very soft and seems to be inside the dashboard behind the steering wheel. There are no apparent leaks anywhere. Seems to only do it when I am pressing on the accelerator.
My mechanic checked the A/C gas, flushed and filled the cooling system, looked at the temp sensor inside the car, and doesn't know what to try next. Could this be a computer problem, or is it mechanical?

After having the stereo replaced over the weekend, our car has now developed a whining sound that increases with rpm's. My wife didn't notice the whining sound until today, which means the car was driven at least around 100 miles between the installation and this morning when she noticed it after leaving the house.
It sounds the same as I've heard before when the alternator makes a noise through the speakers, however the sound doesn't sound as though it's coming through the speakers. With the Pioneer unit that we have, you can turn off the audio source, but I don't really see a way to completely turn off the unit.
I went down with the thought of removing the fuse for the audio system, however the manual states that at the time of writing, they couldn't document all of the fuse mappings and to refer to the dealer.
We have an appointment in the morning to have the dealer check out the noise, but if it ends up being the stereo install that caused the problem, I'm thinking they may charge me for the service visit.
Which fuse controls the stereo so that I can pull that to see if the noise stops?

I just had a new evaporator installed in our 03 Gx 470, and now it is making a gurgling, bubbling type sound while the air conditioner runs, it almost sounds like air is in the system.

Somewhat frequently my wife's 2003 makes this sound. It sounds like it's coming from behind the instrument cluster. It can last for several minutes. I did a search on the forum but couldn't find anything.

I have a 2003 Camry. When I start it, I hear a "gurgling" sound, like bubbling water.Sounds like it is coming fom under the dashboard, but can't be sure.Heater core is my first guess, but heat is fine and it seems to be coming from the driver's side - not the passenger's side where the heater core is located.

I have a 1996 Plymouth Breeze and its been a pretty trustworthy car for the last few years. Lately however I have noticed a gurgling sound coming from the coolant reservoir whenever it the thermostat gauge hits about 50%. It cools right back down to a little over 25% and the sound goes away. I don't think its a leak in my head gasket as there is not any oil in my coolant or coolant in my oil, and its not over heating.

Intermittently, when I apply the brakes my car makes a wet, gurgling sound, as if I'm driving over wet rocks. My husband jacked up the car and said he sees something on the front axle CV on the right side, not on left, and said it looks like a bushing bearing. He said the brakes have zero grit and he let them spin under power (I'm relating what he told me as best I can, he's mechanical, I am not). I also have a rack and pinion leak, though small, he's worried about the hydroloic (sp?) assist going out. I can't say I know what any of this means, but he can't figure out why my car occasionally makes this terrible sound. I haven't noted any specific condition for the noise.

Recently I installed a GTA bluetooth system (about 4 months ago) and recently there is a squeaking noise coming from the passenger side. It almost sounds like an AC compressor issue (had the same problem with my F-250) but there is also an accompanying "gurgling" sound as well. AC problems with the Gen 2 after 160,000 miles?

I have a 2003 Impala with about 124,000 miles on it. A few weeks back I started to hear what can best be described as a "water gurgling" sound coming from my dashboard area or where the vents are. It happens especially when make a tight turn or something, it only last a couple of seconds and doesn't happen all the time. What am I hearing and what was the cause of this and is there any fixes for it?

I have a 2006 f150 lariat 5.4 triton I just purchased a few months back with 80,000 miles on it.
I recently have been hearing a gurgling or even a water sound from under my dash board on cold mornings. Note I don't even use my heat or air conditioner and I drive about two miles to work, park my car and turn it off and for a minute or so I hear gurgling or a sloshing noise. Note some days I don't hear it when it's 60 degrees outa X warm for the day.
Now a week ago I took it to the dealer and they said yes your heater plugs were clogged, they fixed that and I can now still hear the noise....
So I have been searching around and allot of website have been saying that it's my coolant level. Now I just drove to work and here is a pic of my coolant level.
