View 7 RepliesB5 03 Passat Wagon - I am having a problem pulling in am reception on the radio. I am getting significant static. When I remove the antenna mast, I get no reception. When I put it back on, reception returns but has static. Static gets worse when I put my had on the antenna mast and resolves to just regular static (along with radio program) when my hand is take off. Non existent reception when going under underpasses, drive through windows, or near power lines.
View 9 RepliesFor years now my AM radio doesn't get reception. Like there is no antenna. FM has always worked fine.
View 4 RepliesHave a 2010 Camry SE. Camry was broadsided in an accident and ever since radio has not worked properly. Radio was replaced by Toyota dealer with a new one but still same problem. Stations fade in and out like receiving weak signal. Is it possible that something connected to the antenna system was damaged in the wreck?
View 2 RepliesI just purchased a 2009 gs 350 a few months ago with 40k on it fully certified. I quickly noticed that most of the fm radio stations were static even local ones that I usually listen to all the time. Some stations would go in and out of static but too annoying for me to deal with. Ive tried turning random things on and off to see if it changes the reception but nothing works or makes it worse.
At first I thought I'd just deal with it, but then I realized how much radio I actually listen to. So I brought it to the local lexus dealer a few weeks ago to see if they could fix it. They replaced the head unit once with no success, so they ordered another one and replaced the original with it. They had the car for two weeks and when I picked the car up they said that all the stations come in except a couple.. Turns out it seems to be exactly the same as it was before, maybe slightly better. I want this fixed completely with no static at all especially since the car is certified and most things are covered.
I think it could only be one of three things the head unit, the rear windshield (where the fm antenna is located) or the wiring in between the two. Since they already replaced the head unit twice I think its safe to say its not the head unit even though they said they tested it somehow and that's what the problem was......
Noticed poor FM radio reception in 2012? Mine seems to just barely fade in and out. It's not terribly noticeable, but definitely happening. It's frustrating when streaming Bluetooth actually sounds better than the FM radio reception! I'm wondering if it's a problem specific to my car or if it's an issue everyone is experiencing.
View 16 RepliesRecently, we had to change the 12V auxiliary battery on our 2010 Prius IV. Everything went smoothly and the entire procedure took less than 20 minutes. We thought everything was good, until we turned on the radio.
Since we changed the 12V battery, the FM radio (which is part of the NAV console) has great difficulty keeping any station tuned. Before changing the 12V battery, we could drive around and listen to our favorite FM radio stations; now, the radio frequently loses reception, and our music frequently gets interrupted with static.
It's been a couple months, and the situation has not improved. We took a look at the antenna, and nothing looks out of the ordinary. It seem odd that changing a 12V aux battery would cause this problem, but we have not made any other changes (not even an oil change) for several months.
So I just installed my Pioneer 4400BH - Took several hours and all went well - EXCEPT - no AM reception after I installed the radio. FM seems fine.
Two possible guesses:
1. Did not push the antenna connector in far enough.
2. Gen 3's use an antenna amplifier. I did not think that Gen IIs used on so I did not connect the Power antenna lead to anything.
Does the XC90 have a very weak radio reception? Some of the FM stations that were normally very strong in my other cars were weak at the XC90, and some of the AM stations that were normally okay got no signal at all at the XC90. Is there anything I can do to boose the radio reception?
View 19 RepliesI have an '05 Camry XLE with the in-dash touch-screen AM/FM CD Nav system. On random cold days I seem to lose my radio reception. When I turn on the radio I receive a lot of static with break-through talking or music. I've tried to change stations using the touch panel, the steering control as well as the manual tuning dial and I still got static.
I've driven to work ~40 minutes and most of them were filled with static and some break-through talking (not of the station I was tuned into though). The last couple of minutes of my drive I did get a station that said it was 98.3 but I was tuned into 95.5. No matter which station I dialed in I still received the 98.3 station.
It seems like the antenna or something in the radio was stuck or frozen. I drove the entire time with the heat blaring on feet/defrost and rear defroster on thinking it might warm something up but that didn't work.
I bought, new, a 2012 Camry back in 2012. I got the satellite radio option. The reception with satellite is horrible. On the clearest of days, I lose signal all the time making it useless trying to listen to it.
Yes, I understand vegetation can hinder reception. But, it shouldn't to this extent. Not long after I bought the Camry, I purchased a 2010 Ford Fusion. It, too, had satellite radio.
I think, in the 2 years I had the Fusion, I lost signal 2 times. On the cloudiest, foggiest, snowiest, and raniest of days, the Fusion never lost sat signal.
I had the dealer check out the system and they found nothing wrong. I've let my subscription to Sirius expire since I can't even get a decent signal. Is this typical of the satellite radio with Camry's???
I'm experiencing issues with the radio when I change from AM to FM. If on AM mode and I go to audio button or on Steering Switches and push FM, it switches to FM reception (get the radio station on FM) however read out on the screen still says AM and all the presets are in AM mode.
On the reverse from FM to AM same occurs.
Is this a software issue?
Having issue with XM Radio reception? My 2013 RX 350 loses signal with even minor obstructions. This is my second RX with satellite radio and 5th car and this model is terrible. I have driven behind friends with 2015 and 2010 models comparing when signals are lost and mine is significantly worse.
View 6 Replies3 different style chargers, with or without an actual load. if i rotate the charger, the radio goes in and out.
View 3 RepliesMy 2010 fusion radio sound quality isn't as good as when car was new. Also seems to vary on certain days. Has any one had problems with their Sony factory system & what was the fix?
View 1 RepliesAre there any fuses or relays that I could look for besides what the owners manual calls out? Haynes manual is useless w/this problem also. Everything else seems to work fine. Haven't tried the AC or heat, but my gauges, pwr locks and mirrors are all fine. I'm stuck w/the windows down and no tunes.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 Passat with RNS510 nav radio and it just started losing Sat Nav reception. I will Start it up and it will have say 5-7 satellites out 10 and slowly the number will drop to 0 and sometimes the nav will show me off road and in fields sometimes in another city. I was told it was the antenna.
View 1 RepliesI am proud that my leather still looks factory, there aren't wrinkles, creases or scuffs in it. How to keep it looking this way when the car gets up there in age?
View 11 RepliesOkay so my brother has a v6 passat, he started it drove it got home went to go start it later on an Wouldnt start. the battery isn't dead an ignition switch is brand new. I haven't really looked at it yet just wonder what it could be before I go threw it.
View 24 RepliesAs description says no start and crank . when tested battery is good . automatic trans push button starter??
View 2 RepliesMy Sonata has developed an issue with listening to AM stations. Unless I'm well out of an area that may have interference I hear so much static that you can't even make out words.
This was never an issue, started the last couple of months. While this happens FM and XM stations are perfectly fine. This issue is limited to my vehicle only, all other vehicles seem to play AM in that area perfectly fine. There are some days (very few) where the radio will work fine in this but a couple minutes later go back to static.
I have no tints, no changes were made to the stereo either. This is the headunit w/ nav, xm radio etc.
