Passat (B6) :: Engine MIL Came On For Two Days
Feb 12, 2013
And it went off this morning. Service technician says it might be that the fuel cap became dirty and the light came on because of pressure in gas tank. Have the cap cleaned.

View 4 RepliesI have a 2005 passat 1.8T non 4-motion and the check engine light turns on with no noticeable performance loss or idle fluctuation then will turn off in 3-4 days only to turn back on in another 3-4 days. My guess is something with the fuel, or moisture in the tank or even a stupid gas cap problem but im just shooting my question out there hoping another passat driver has experienced this same ridiculous problem.
View 2 RepliesMy passat's date on the screen is two days behind and I was wondering if there is a way of fixing it without getting computers involved. I tried changing the hour couple of times from am to pm but it didn't work.
View 16 RepliesWell, I had a check engine light that lasted only three days then it cleared itself without any intervention. I checked it with a vag-com and I discovered there was an issue with the intake manifold control. I ended up bringing it to the dealer since it is a fairly new passat, and the service department informed me that the Intake Manifold Runner Control needed to be replaced.
Below were the fault codes.
3 Faults Found:
012599 - Intake Manifold Runner Control: Basic Setting not Completed
P3137 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

Four days after buying my 2010 gti, the check engine light appeared for the first time. I believe thats VW's way of saying, 'Welcome back to the family.
View 5 RepliesI just got back from a 6 day trip and when I turned my 2004 Prius back on I'm getting a check engine light. We did get a fair amount of snow that I had to clean off.
The car runs and starts fine so I'm thinking it is just a bug in the computer after sleeping in the snow for too long.
We've had the Check Engine Light go on and off every few days for a YEAR now. Mechanic can't diagnose or fix. Code always returns as Random Misfire. Have tried reprogramming computer twice, flushed the engine once. Notice that it goes away with lots of highway driving but always comes back when we are in town which is most of the time. Rarely get on the highway. Commute is 5-7 miles. Manual transmission. Our repair guys are stumped. Car runs just fine! No problems apparent other than the light. They say the next thing we should try is replacing the ignition coil. Nothing has yet worked and this sounds expensive... Could the Check Engine Light itself be faulty?
View 8 RepliesI have an intermittent problem with the check engine light. While driving in town once in a while the truck runs rough for just a short time. Then the check engine light comes on for a few days then goes off. The truck runs just fine after the rough 2 minutes but the light stays on. I checked the gas cap and it's ok. I changed gas stations but no difference. Sometimes it happens then doesn't happen for another 2 weeks.
View 4 RepliesMy service engine light on my 99 s10 comes on like every other week. Stays on for a couple of days, then shuts off. My truck is running fine, so is it really necessary to take it to my mechanic to get checked out?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2006 Avalon and for the last 2 weeks the VSC and Check engine lights have been coming on and stay on for 2 days and goes off.
View 4 RepliesI recently became the proud owner of a 2004 Camry, 2.4L, AT. Since gas(petrol) prices are touching the sky in this part of the world, I got it converted to CNG(Natural gas) promptly. After 3 days of smooth driving on natural gas, I got the dreaded Check Engine Light. The error code being thrown up is P1135 and upon reset is comes back again almost instantly.
Since this happened after 3 days of running smoothly on CNG, the kit installer is feigning ignorance. Moreover, the light stays on even on petrol mode. None of the original fittings were disturbed by the CNG installer but one of the oxygen sensor wires was stripped(not cut) and attached with another wire which provides input to the CNG kit. This wire was promptly disconnected by the installer to prove that it has nothing to do with the CNG installation, and the CEL still comes on.
While I do understand that the o2 sensor can go bad anytime but this is too much of a co-incidence. On the other hand, the car did run fine for 3 days after the installation so that should rule out the CNG kit as a possible culprit. I don't want to go about randomly changing the o2 sensor, etc.
As the title says, I have an 02 Supercrew with the 5.4. The engine starts when cold and runs fine but sometimes when I start it hot after running for a bit, it will stall out unless I keep my foot on the gas pedal. This seems to only happen on hot days. It was about 90 F here yesterday and I drove it to a shopping mall after supper - maybe 5 miles. It sat for maybe 20 minutes and when I re-started it, it stalled out.
The tach needle just drops slowly to zero and the engine stops. It will re-start without any problem but will only keep running if I keep my foot on the gas and keep the revs up a bit. It has done this a few times in the past few years and only on hot days after it has been running and then sat for a few minutes.
What I should look at? It does not throw any codes and generally runs ok after a few minutes. For example, last night I managed to keep it going by shifting into neutral when required until I got back on the road. I drove 2 or 3 miles and at the next light, it acted like nothing happened.
I have a 2005 volvo s40 ion a cold day when i start car and take off it bogs, there is no pep it seems like its struggling, after a couple minutes of driving she is back to normal. I replaced spark plugs - no difference...
View 5 RepliesI have a 2009 Prius, and lately we've been having days of 95+ degrees (F). I turn the AC on Auto & set it at something like 74, but it'll just be blasting out full for my entire 20 minute drive home. By the time I get home it's started to cool down. If the temperature outside is in the 80s it seems to do fine, but at about 95+ it can never keep up.
I took it to the Toyota dealership, but they keep telling me there's nothing wrong with it. My wife has a newer Toyota (non-Prius, non-hybrid) and on the same days her ac is cool within a minute or so. Is this a common issue with all Prius cars? Or is there something not right, and I need to somehow convince the dealership of this?
I've been having this problem lately, when its a hot day the car revs up passing the 1000rpm's or when I am in traffic for a long period of time it does the same and its stays there for a while ( like 5 mins) then returns back to normal. Heres a video so you can see of what I am talking about... [URL] .....
View 10 RepliesSo I needed to have my clutch and slave cylinder replace on my 2000 Hyundai Tiboron about a month ago, and now I've noticed that in warmer weather the car totally loses acceleration. I took it back to the mechanic who had done the clutch work, but of course he couldn't reproduce the problem. Yesterday afternoon when it was 80+ degrees I saw the problem again, where I could push down on the accelerator and the RPMs would jump from 2.8k to about 3.8k and very little power would be transferred and very little acceleration. I then checked the car this morning while it was cool outside, and even after driving 30 miles to work over a mountain, the car had proper acceleration. So what might be causing the lose of power?
View 1 Replies2002 F250,heavy duty. Problem, AC cools while driving at night or even on a cloudy day but on a hot sunny day you have to run on max and even then will not cool cab. I had gas checked they said it was good to go. I bought this truck new and the ac has always been weak in my opinion. I took it to dealer the first summer I owned it everything checked out ok. What the problem might be?
View 11 RepliesHad an interesting problem with my 2006 Camry (134k miles - all maintenance up to date). After returning from trip, I went to start my 2006 Camry LE and it turned over but never started. After a couple more tries, I stepped on the accelerator while turning the key and it finally started. It's starting and running fine now but that is the first time that has ever happened. The car sat for 5 days.
View 3 RepliesI just had my 90K service done, drove my '04 prius home and parked it for 2 days.
I tried to open the door like I always do (no remote key, just touching the handle) and the car would not unlock.
When I got into the car the GPS screen did not come up, the Info screen and energy consumption screens are also not working.
Before I took the car in for service everything worked fine.
I'm contending that the service people jostled something they should have just jiggled, or possibly jangled something they should have jingled.
Am back to VW. This time with a 05 Touareg. The truck was sitting for more than 3 days with dead battery and now the NAV will not turn on.
View 3 RepliesThe manually-controlled air conditioning in my 2003 Ford Taurus can't take the heat (literally). If the outside air temperature is under 85 degrees, it works like a champ, but as the day gets hotter, the cold air disappears. This happens regardless of whether I've driven the car previously that day. My mechanic checked the coolant level, compressor, and sensors and all were fine and the AC was cold. He left the car sit outside in the sun for a few hours and voila - no AC! (BTW, it can happen when the car is parked in my garage too if it's a hot day). He says something is triggering a false temperature message telling the system to shut down. He wants to dig into the wiring in the system to look for a problem.
