Passat (B6) :: Driver Side Horn NOT Working - Fuse?
Jan 16, 2010
My driver side horn is not working but the passenger side is. Before I bring it to the dealer, is there a fuse for the horn?

View 4 RepliesYesterday the horn on my 2007 Passat has stopped working completely. I have read the owner's manual from cover to cover and the fuse for the horn is not listed anywhere in any of the fuse diagrams - either for the engine compartment cover, or on the fuses listed in the interior by the driver's side.
In addition the MFD steering wheel controls have also stopped working, and there is also no night time illumination on those buttons. I'm guessing as these are also located on the steering wheel that the two problems might be linked. I can live without the MFD controls, but the horn is a safety issue.
The horn doesn't work, but when I lock the car I get the "honk" from the factory alarm...
Long story short...car got broken into, radio stolen, n00b-dumbass radio installer from the insurance company was fuddeling around with the fuse box to power the radio via a 12v source (again...long story). His hands were also behind the kick panel below the steering wheel to run some wires. I only noticed the horn not working a few days after this guy worked on my car. Coincidence?
Is there a fuse / relay that goes bad with our horns?
My driver side door has not been working for about a month now. It started gradually opening after a million tried but now it just wont open. Tonight one of my lamps stopped working when I was trying to install HID's. I suspect the fuse is burned out but cant get to it cause the door wont open. How can I get my door open. Need headlights as I get out of work late night and dont want to get pulled over for a headlamp being out.
View 8 RepliesIt's under the hood or inside the car
View 2 RepliesDrivers side low beam not working. The bulb is fine saying something was tapped in, therefore, can't warranty headlight. Guy said the light gets power just light won't work. Can Vagcom fix this? Dealer wants $125 for inspection plus another $676 for parts and labor.
View 19 RepliesSo the driver side seat heater won't work, I swapped the switch with the passenger side and it won't work (but the drivers side switch works on the passener side), the fuse is alright. What am I missing?
View 1 RepliesDriver side rear seat speakers are not working. Are they on a fuse? Haven't had time to look over the owner's manual. If not fused what else could be happening?
View 4 RepliesMy driver side seat heater stopped working, but the passenger side still works great, if its just like a loose switch (just had a stereo installed like 4 months ago) or is the actual heater bad itself.
View 8 RepliesChanged turn signal, Now driver side running lights and head light don't work. Never mind it was a blown fuse.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Passat. The driver's side door handle has failed. With the locks in "unlocked" when i pull the handle it comes out but with no effort and it does not trip the dork lock mechanism and the door does not open. I can however open the door via the inside handle.
View 4 RepliesSo yesterday I come out of a store and hit the button on my remote and pull my handle and nothing.. I hit the button a few more times i and i hear it clicking but its not unlocking..
So I climb in and unlock it from the inside and start locking and unlocking it and finally it starts working again.. I get home car sits for a few hours and i head out to walmart door opens fine when I leave walmart it is fine.. this mourning taking my son to the sitters it was fine and leaving there to go to work it was fine..
At lunch at work it wouldn't open again no matter what i tried i couldn't get it to work.. i call the dealer and have an appointment in the AM for them to check it out..
On a side not one of my drivers side front speaker in the same door is cutting in and out and hisses every now and then..
I'm at a complete loss, My drivers side back door has stopped working, Alarm, window and lock, I've checked my fuses, and it seems i only have 3 doors in the fuse box, what are the numbers to the door fuses in the box.
View 9 RepliesI own a 1999 passat and my driver's side window stopped working and fell into the door. I have pulled the window up with pliers for now but I was wondering how to take the door apart. There is what looks like two screws on the side of the door but they won't loosen.
View 9 RepliesLast week I got the airbag light up on my dash board. Then, my horn stopped working along with the radio controls. Now they are telling me its not being covered because of my aftermarket modifications. Now my aftermarket modifications are the following done through Vag-Com: DRLs disabled for HIDs, Remote up/down for windows.
So they are telling me they can not communicate with the module. Correct me if I'm wrong here, and I most likely am since I don't know much about this, but aren't they unable to connect to the module because.... it's defective?
I just bought this one and it came with no owners manual so I can't figure out how to open the box.
View 3 RepliesI realized my horn is not working. I also realized that the left side turn indicator (blinker) light is not working and when I popped it out I saw the wires were chewed up, I am not sure what happened. Do you think I need to remove the wheel well liner to try to access that area? What to do?
View 14 RepliesAll my lights on the driver side don't work, replaced brake light and then nothing. Would it be a fuse? if so which one or wiring and how would I go about finding the fault.
View 1 RepliesHow to access the fuse panel inside car under drivers side can't seem to get it open
View 3 RepliesStarting to build up some confidence to do my auto dim mirror install myself. How do you remove the A pillar on the driver's side? Is it difficult to do?
Also, in the manual, it says there's a fuse box under the driver side instruments... how do you get to that? Looks like there's a cover to remove?
So all about the same time as far as I can tell, some electrical type issues cropped up.
This Always happens
The Horn is now making a lower pitch wimpy sound
These Next two, when they happen, seem to happen at the same time:
The 'Hey you left your Lights' on Chime does not always Ding
The Drivers Side Rear passenger Door Lock does not lock/unlock
Since they happen intermittently it would not seem like a fuse issue, more like a relay or loose connector?
