On Sep. 28,2010,I went an official repair shop to change the engine oil for my Passat B6. At the mean time, I also replace the oilfilter by a new one and on the package of the new one,it printed "Expired Date: 08 APR 2010".I wanna know does the oilfilter really have an expired date?What will it happen if I use an expired oilfilter?
My passat's date on the screen is two days behind and I was wondering if there is a way of fixing it without getting computers involved. I tried changing the hour couple of times from am to pm but it didn't work.

View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 Camry LE with 126,000 Miles , on the past couple of oil changes I have noticing when I look at the oil level on my Oil change 3000 Date due , I see it is at the lowest oil level mark which means it needs at least 3 qts. This was not the case before . I have tried Lucas engine oil. I am positive no drips or leaks coming out from the engine as ground is always clean and my mechanic told me he is not noticing any leakage at from the bottom .

View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 Avalon XLS with 160K. I recently had the clock spring replaced by a friend, which fixed what it was supposed to fix - airbag light went off, cruise works, horn works. He did disconnect the battery when he did the work.
Whenever I turn off the car, and turn it back on, the time and date have resent to default, and I lose all the radio settings like stations, bass, treble, etc.
I have to admit I'm not sure if the current problem started RIGHT after the clock spring work, or a bit later. I'm thinking I would have noticed it right away. But I know the time/date and radio settings did work right before.
I've scoured the internet and can't find an actual answer - a lot of "could be". My hope is that the "secondary, memory" power fuse is blown.
My '15 sonata Limited w/ Tech package has been having some issues appear with the clock on the Navigation unit.
A few weeks back, I noticed that the Date/time display across the top of the navigation screen was showing May 28. When I dug down into the clock settings, it was pulling the date May 28, year 2035 from the GPS signal. Each day it would increment to the next day.
Then last week, the date and time would not load across the screen at all. Only the normal blue bar appears across the screen without any text or numbers.
With the Daylight Savings time change over the weekend, I tried to change the time on the LCD clock in the middle of the dashboard, the clock settings are grayed out and I can not change anything.
I already hit the reset button next to the knob on the dash, and also pulled the 15A fuse but neither one worked to reset anything.
I was reading some of the TSB and I think some of them apply to my 2010 STX 4x4 with a 4.6l 3v. I am not sure of the build date

View 1 RepliesSeems too coincidental to be unrelated. I installed a new K&N filter into my '04 GLX Wagon and 2 days later my MIL light came on. No blinking just always on. Is there a connection between the two? If I swap out the filters will the light go out on it's own or does it need to be reset? If it's not the filter what's the most common cause of the light coming on? Assuming is doesn't start blinking I have read it's OK to drive until fixed.

I figured that I could do it myself for much less (or even just tap the dirt out of my current one). How to access the filter, and how easy or difficult the process is?

In my car I open the glove box and there is another pull down compartment that holds the manual. Does this compartment need to be removed? If it does how do you do it. I dont see anything that looks like the diagram given.
View 3 RepliesHere's my situation: I was driving back from a conference last Sunday afternoon with 4 passengers in 85 degree weather. After about 5 minutes on the road, I noticed that the A/C stopped working and the vent wouldn't increase in speed under any fan setting. 30 minutes later, I hit stop-and-go traffic (with more stop than go) and the Service Engine Soon light came on. The engine was laboring just as we got out of the gridlock. The last 7 miles were smooth and at 45mph. After the car cooled, I checked the oil and engine coolant--both were fine. The fan worked again as well, now responding to each fan setting. And the Service light went off. And this is where my knowledge of cars abruptly stops--if it's not the oil or coolant, what is it? More importantly, is it safe to drive 150 miles on Friday to get to my home dealership?

View 6 RepliesThe fan inside my air filter box, or turbo charger intercooler (not sure of correct technical term) is running on and off for several hours after engine has been shut off. I believe this is running my battery down. Is this intercooler/fan suppose to run after the engine is shut off?
