Passat (B6) :: Disabling Turn Signal Click Sound?

Is there any way to disable the clicking sound made when the turn signal is on?

View 24 RepliesToday I noticed that the "click" sound on my turn signals was gone. I had someone watch the front and rear signals and none of them lit up if the clicking/dash light didn't either. Sometimes it would come on for 2-3 clicks, then stop. I could sorta force the issue by flipping the level back and forth, but it only worked for about half of the times I flipped the lever.
I tried the hazard switch. In this situation, the lights stay on (blinking), but they have an irregular cadence, like a heart murmur (just in signal form!). Click-a, click-a, cli-cli-cli-cka...etc.
Just now toward the end of my drive to work the turn signal clicker was possessed and randomly clicks. Still clicks as normal when I turn on the signals.
View 21 RepliesJust purchased my 1st SUV - 2012 Nissan Murano. Rides good, handles great. Seats a little firm. Problem: when the radio is on (not really very loud), can't hear the click of the turn signal -- it's set at a very low volume. As it doesn't stop clicking after changing lanes, how can I increase the sound of the click so I'm not one of those goofballs driving down the freeway making a perpetual left turn?
View 6 RepliesI have had my '02 SC since 2007 and frequently when I turn the key to start, I hear an instantaneous "electronic click" sound. I have ignored it and no service person has ever mentioned it, nor have I requested a Lexus diagnosis.
View 2 RepliesFor some reason it just stopped - did I do some top secret code?
View 7 RepliesI have a hearing disability called Hyperacusis. if its possible or knows how to disable the turn signal sound as it causes me physical pain in my ears. Its for a 2016 model.
View 4 RepliesI get home from a business trip today and the wife picks me up in someone elses car. Why? Because the turn signals on her 2002 Passat went out. None of them work.
When you push the signal lever the arrow lights up exactly one time, you hear the familiar turn signal click exactly one time and then nothing....nada...zip.
I just got in a while ago so I haven't had any time to begin checking fuses. I'll look at it in the morning when I've got some light.
Where the flashers are located? I turned my turn signals on to find the clicking sound, but I couldn't see anything under the dash.
View 9 RepliesI have an '07 Azera and the turn signal sound is intermittent. The signals flash normally, but sometime I hear the flasher sound inside the car and sometime it is dead silent. Cannot seem to correlate it to temperature or other factors. Any way, I assume as the lights flash with no sound that either the flash or the sound is electronically generated, but cannot be like an old school mechanical flasher. What makes the flasher sound in the Azera and where is it located?

View 4 RepliesI've been noticing this one single "metallic" click sound a few months ago, it happens whenever I turn the steering wheel a little over 90 degrees.
The steering intermediate shaft recall has been done summer of last year. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this sound I'm hearing.
This is a video I made
If you watch this video, you need to turn it up really loud to hear the faint click sound every time I turn the steering wheel past 90 degrees.
I'm trying to get friend's 04 F150 4x4 started. I think it might be the ignition switch. Here's what I've done. Turn the Key and nothing happens. Not even a clicking sound from the battery.
-verified the battery had a good charge and that terminals were clean, connections were tight.
-checked the fuses in the passenger side kick panel, none were blown
-Determined there was power to the primary Pos wire going to the starter , but no power being sent to the smaller wire that goes to solenoid at the starter.
-Hooked a jumper wire to the starter solenoid and engine did crank (so starter is good and battery is making good connection)
This is why I'm thinking its the ignition switch.
1) Where is the ignition switch located?
2)How can I test the ignition switch?
3)Could it be the "cylinder lock and keys" that is faulty?
So...I'm driving home yesterday and hit my left turn signal when all I get is a fast clicking sound. The light on the dash did not light up at all. Right signal is working fine.
Checked it out in the driveway -- my left signal is totally out. No front, rear or dash light when I hit the left turn signal. When I hit the hazard switch, I get only a right blinking light. The right turn signal functions as normal.
I thought this was probably a bad bulb so I replaced both the front AND the rear bulbs. Got no love - same results.
2008 Prius...
While I was driving this morning, I noticed that my turn signal was not staying on. Basically it would blink once and then go out. No ticking either. Seems like some kind of short. The hazard light blinks but with an irregular pattern.
View 6 RepliesIn my new to me 05 B5 we have a problem with the turn signals. When turning right the signal works fine but once you return straight and the lever returns to center the relay or something in the center console continues to cycle for 2-4 cycles afterwards. Also, if on cruise, and you activate the left turn to pass, it kicks off the cruise. I suspect it's either the lever or the slip ring on the column (if it has one like my 96 Passat).
View 1 RepliesIt is a pretty simple problem, but on a few occasions the "clicking" noise that goes along with the turn signal blinking will not stop after turning off the signal. It does not click at the normal cadence. It erratically clicks on and off and will continue to do so for 3-5 minutes. Neither the turn signals nor the indicator lights blink, but the clicking continues in the dash. Turning the signals back on puts the clicking into normal speed, but once the signal is turned off it goes back to crazy speed. It only happens once every couple months, but it is really annoying.
View 4 RepliesI just got a 2003 1.8T Passat about a week ago. I have already installed a new HU and put some subs in it. I haven't really had the chance to test the headlights while driving because I haven't driven after dark since I got the car. When I used the headlights today some strange things were happening.
When the headlights are turned on the right signal comes on and stays on until the headlights are turned off and doesn't pulse. If I try to use the right signal while it is stuck on it makes the indicator clicking noise once then the noise stops but the light stays solid the whole time.
If the headlights are off and I try use the right signal the signal works fine but the instrument lighting pulses with the signal and I assume I haven't noticed this because driven only in the light I probably just never noticed.
The left signal behaves completely as it should as far as I know in all conditions. The hazard lights are also behaving oddly but I'm thinking it's because of the problem with the right signal.
It makes a noise as if I have my turn signal on, although when the turn signal aren't on, the ticking sound continues. I replaced the whole unit, and it did not fix it. My Dad says it has to be a bad Turn Signal Relay, but where do I find one in my car? How will i know that it's that? Is there a diagram of relays anywhere online?
View 2 RepliesI personally find the voice commands more distracting, and I also hate reaching for a button, going from 0 to 2 MPH, and then seeing the options all greyed out.
View 3 RepliesMy Jetta has had an off-and-on clicky turn signal sound without turn signals or hazard lights actually blinking. I put up with it for a while, but recently it's been more clicky than not. I'm aware this is a common problem. I had already tried the cleaner spray "trick" which made the problem worse if anything. Today, I removed my signal stalk as described here and gave it a cleaning. After re-assembling, the clicky problem didn't go away, and now the high beams are always on (even with the key out of the ignition, and the car isn't running). I temporarily dealt with this by pulling fuses 18 and 19 for high beams. It's an ok short-term workaround. Low beams still work fine.
I'm considering replacing the hazard signal relay, but a while ago I messed up while trying to use ghetto removal keys to pull my radio.
