View 5 RepliesI have a 2006 Passat 3.6 Tiptronic and am looking to get wheels without the TPMS on them. How to use the vagcom to disable it? I saw posts for a T reg but no passats....
View 6 RepliesMy cluster went on the fritz and i bought a used one off ebay. (caused dome light to randomly come on and off as well as same thing with the brake light). Any ways I did some research and searching for compatibility in swapping clusters, my truck is an 06 f150 5.4 chrome package. The cluster I bought was from 07-08 but the look identical. Anyways I hook it up and everything works fine, all gauges warning lights everything. The only problem is that i have a tire pressure light on that flashes and stays steady.
My 06 wasn't even equipt with the tpms system, not sure how it even has power for the indicator light now. I know from what i been reading that its "illegal" / dealer wont turn it off, but for me its really doing no good just an annoyance since I don't have tpms. My question is is there a way on the cluster i can make it go out, i realize there is no bulb for the warning lights like in older vehicles or maybe a wire that feeds to it? Or possibly something i can do to the circuit board to make it stop? Looking for a cluster schematic?
Need to disable TPMS on 2012 model? I am going to install winter tires with wheels without sensors.
View 2 RepliesI have a full size factory spare tire in the trunk and my TPMS is constantly saying the tire is flat or whatever, of course it's not, and of course I've set the correct tire pressure and of course I've recalibrated the system to no avail. I get an exclamation point on the screen for that tire only.
I want to disable monitoring of that tire ONLY. It does me no good since I have aftermarket rims/tires anyway so a flat means bad news for me right now. I don't need to have that spare monitored until I get an aftermarket 5 rim (which probably won't fit in that space anyway.
Just got my new wheels and tires from Tire Rack installed on my little Tojo, the TPMS light is now on all the time. I'm thinking black tape. Any way to disable it?
View 9 RepliesIs there a way to disable the Tire Pressure Monitor System? I want to drop the pressure in my tires when it is not loaded but annoying sensor keeps going off.
View 14 RepliesWhile driving our new B7 tonight, the tpms light came on. I checked the pressure when we got home (tires were still very warm) and all read 36lbs. They all read 34 when I checked last week. Why the tpms light is still on??
View 2 RepliesSo I'm one of the lucky few that ended up in the middle of the arctic blast that nailed the US. My wonderful Passat though seemed largely unscathed as I never had any trouble starting it, no rough idle, and no transmission slips or stutters. I did however feel the issue of the TPMS light.
First day when it registered -14F on the dash the light was on (and MFD says "Tire Pressure Too Low"). I quickly hopped out and grabbed my gauge and checked the tires. Fronts were at 28lbs and backs were between 30 & 32lbs (exactly what I have them normally set at), so I figured that the sensors just got frozen and went on with my day.
Now the weather has warmed up (about 40F) and the damn light is still on... I've checked the pressure's again and everything's about the same (within 2lbs). Is this normal for these things to be this temperamental? I'd love to just do the TPMS delete.

Got in the car and the light came on along with "TIRE PRESSURE TOO LOW", so I went to the gas station and it's got a very NICE air machine. You dial in the PSI (in my case 33 according to door sticker) and it beeps when you've reached the specificed air pressure.
All 4 tires look good and I can't see any visible nails. I've drive about 60 miles on it after I aired them back up with no visible loss in pressure.
Running the OEM ContiSports and OEM "Fat 5" wheels. I haven't modified a thing on the car.
I looked in the manual and it was like "go to an authorized VW shop" and I'm like. What do I do to get the light to go off AND to know which tire was low.
Bought new tires for car. the original tires that came with the car were 16s. i bought her some 18s awhile back and got the tires installed. In the door jam the tires PSI are supposed to be 33psi, but then again tha'ts for 16" rims. well i was slowly bumping up the pressure in each tire and got all the way to 40psi and the light is still on in the dash. What am I doing wrong for this sensor not to turn off. I know 40psi is too much, I am going to let some out but I am getting frustrated with this light on the dash.
View 22 RepliesI recently replaced my tires from a flat, ever sense i change the tires, my TPM light wont turn off, i thought it will go away after a few miles, but it is still on.

Month or so a go, my TPMS light came on. I checked the tires and they looked ok, and pressure was close to 32 psi which is recommended (pressure sticker on the door jamb). Tried resetting multiple times following the instructions provided in the user manual by pressing the TPMS reset button located in the glove compartment. Light still on. Tried clearing with VAG-COM and no success. Keeps saying check your tires and light is on.
I have read on various posts to pump the tires to 37-40psi. Tried that and no luck. Then I found someone saying on the forums that there is an issue where the TPMS gets some how recoded to 5.5 bar instead of 2.3 bar and that is why the light wont go away. How to recode TPMS to correct value
How do I turn off the seatbelt light? What fuse do I have to pull 2 disable the DRL?
View 3 RepliesSo have been thinking about this for some time and I just finally got to it. I want to disable the DRL, and I found this video: [URL] .....
I tried it and it did not work. How to disable the running lights in an 2001 Passat?
The manual doesn't have much in regards to the TPMS in our cars. I'm wondering what happens when the warning light goes on, meaning let's say I just need to add some air to a tire. Do I just add more air, and the warning light goes away? I'm coming from a Bimmer where I had to reset the warning and re calibrate the tires after filling it with adequate air. The way the manual make it sound, I have to go to the dealer? Is this right? Also, I'm looking at some aftermarket wheels that I know are compatible with out tpms sensors. Once the new wheels and tires are mounted with the OEM sensors, do I need to reset anything on the TPMS in the car?
View 1 RepliesLast week I had new tires installed on my 18" Samarkands and the TPMS light has been on since. I've verified that all four corners have the metal TPMS sensors in place and the tires are at 40psi, spare is 38psi. I have driven over 100 miles since the tire change. In past the light would come on when pressure below 36psi, and would turn off when tires inflated.
Have this problem after a tire change? Are the sensors easily damaged? Discount Tire/America's Tire Store said to bring the car back so they could take a look, but first wanted to get Vortex input.
My tpms light came on tonight after 15 minutes of freeway driving. I checked the pressure in all 4 tires, and they were all right about 36 lbs. The door jamb tire info says 33 lbs cold, so this seems about right to me. why the tpms light might have come on? Is the spare tire hooked up to the tpms system? My Passat is only 1 month old, so I'm surprised the light came on.
View 8 RepliesSo tonight I'm driving on I-80 and all of a sudden I hear a thud, the TPMS light comes on and a warning of low tire pressure. I get out to take a lot and the rear left tire is practically flat. Changing the tire was pretty easy once I figured out where everything was in the tray.
So now I'm in the market for a replacement tire as there was a huge hole in tread. I have a about 3000 miles on the car. Would you get a replacement tire that is the same make/model as the rest of the tires, or would you simply get a cheaper replacement? Once I am ready to replace the rest of the tires, I'm not sure if I would replace them with the OEM make/model anyway. At the same time I'm not sure how long the OEM's will last.
