I don't know about all you other B6 owners, but my dash rattles and makes an annoying noise on every bump. The noise is similar to speakers crackling (bad description).

1)i had heard some creaking noise when going over speed bump
2)some rattling/ creaking noise from the front dash.
3)check engine light appeared
4)gas cap warning light appeared intermittantly.
VW dealer done the following jobs.
1)2328 Verified Creaking noise from both from lwer control arm bushings As per TB 40 08 01 noise coming from both front bushings.
40205653 Wishbone mounting replace.
40172003 Lower wishbone remove + reintall
2 1K0-406-182 Rubb Mount
6 N-103-320-02 Nut
2 N-101-410-03 Bolt
4 N-107-063-01 Screw
2) 2327 Found noise coming from trim piece surrounding radio
68221900 instrument panel trim remove + reinstall.Installed anti rattle tape to trim backing and mounting surface.
3)&4) 01320021 Technical check
2324 possible loose gas cap 01320021=0.2 Performed DTC Readout
P0456 EVAP System very small leak detected. Checked fuel tank sealing several times in basic settings 71. Passes.
Inspected gas cap and adjacent seal. OK. Raised Vehicle inspected fule tank and lines. OK. Operating to specification at this time. Erased DTC's.
With all that done above, I got back my car and i am yet to see if there's any noise coming from the radio rattling and the suspension creak. What the heck did they do to my car on the item #3 #4? What is Erased DTC's and TB 40 08 01?
This is unfortunately a tale of self-caused problems with my G2 '04 Prius
My gear selector was making an annoying noise when the knob was moved so I disassembled the gear selector from the car, and then took the gear selector box partially apart. Now with it back in the car I am stuck in 'B' gear.
The car seems to boot up correctly into 'Park' and the display shows 'Ready' and no alarms
If I try to choose another gear I see the display highlight 'D' but when I release the gear knob 'B' is highlited. Forward motion is enabled. At this point the 'Park' button does not work but I am able to power the car down as usual.
Whenever I go over bumps or a rough piece of road there is a faint rattle coming from the drivers door. It just started doing it about a week ago and its driving me crazy . I am thinking door seal? I've called the dealer and they told me to come in to check it out.
View 7 RepliesI am after a annoying dash noise that I get when driving over any rough surfaces. I have removed all centre console and glove box and everything else around that area and I still have the noise, its like the dash is loose some where else, I have looked around for a complete dash removal instruction thread, but can not find anything??
It looks like I will have to remove the whole dash but really could do with some instructions on how to do this as I don't want to break anything!
I have a 2002 Kia Sportage 2WD that sometimes makes a strange noise: Occasionally (not every time) when I go over a bump, I get a noise that sounds like a bunch of light metal being rattled around - almost like a bunch of aluminum pieces sliding around in the back of a pick-up bed. The severity of the bump doesn't seem to matter, and the speed I am going doesn't seem to matter. It is very unpredictable. I have tried driving with the windows open to get a better feel for where the sound is, but I can't tie it down. I did a cursory inspection of the underside of the car, but didn't see anything obviously loose... No, I don't have a bunch of loose aluminum in the back of my Kia!
View 2 RepliesFor the past week I've been hearing a rattling / thumping noise when I'd go over a bump or hit a pothole. I opened the trunk and it wasn't anything knocking around in there.
Yesterday when I was driving I hit a bump and it sounded even louder, like something rubbing against something. I pulled into a parking lot and looked under the car thinking maybe the muffler was dragging or something, but I didn't see anything. I had my daughter get out of the car and look while I backed up and then forward again. She didn't see anything and the noise had stopped.
I figured I'd try to drive home but as soon as I hit another bump the rubbing noise was back so I pulled over & called for a tow. When the guy looked at it he said it looked like my shock or strut (can't remember which he said). He showed me a hole under the car where the part is supposed to be in, then showed me the part which was currently out of the hole and slanted forward next to my tire. When he pushed on my tire I heard the same noise as when I was driving.
My Passat 2.5 SE goes into the shop next week for the dreaded driver's door wind noise, I gave the SM a print out of All the Postings I could find re this Issue. No way can he offer up the usual BS"
I told him he has the car for 1 working days.. if it's not cured by then I want a Loaner & he can keep the SE until such time as the Wind Noise" is cured...Overall the QC in his workshop leaves a little to be desired, having had a dealership in the UK I kno' what to look for in a workshop. Having told him that I will sit there and wait until my car is 100%, I think he got the message!
All cars have a few foibles, having run Jag's, Porches, Big Fords, Big Hyundai's & driven everything from the latest Maserati's to the cute Ford Ka's like life everything is a compromise. The Passat SE in my view is a 7.9 maybe 8 out of 10..(Pedals & Wind Noise are my gripes)

View 6 RepliesMy 2001 SL2 is making a lot of rattling noise. I think I have isolated it to the A/C compressor. I noticed that on the back side of the A/C clutch the plate where the signal wire connects into is very loose when the A/C is not on. The noise seems to be loudest when the A/C is not on. But when I turn on the A/C, that plate tightens up. But the noise continues. Could it just be the A/C clutch or a bearing or something? Or is the noise coming from somewhere not even related to the A/C? The A/C still works really well. I just notice the noise.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 Silverado 2wheel 1500 that has developed an unusual noise that seems to come from behind the dash (near the glove box). There is a roller type sound (creaky likes it's stretching something) that usually ends with a clunk. I'm pretty sure it does it whether the AC is on or not and it doesn't seem to affect the AC at all. I just had the thing in for maintenance so, I hesitate to take it back. I did have the blower control replaced about 10,000 miles ago (wouldn't come on until Speed 3) and I did have the cabin filter replaced recently.

View 10 RepliesAny 'rattle' from their front suspension when going over high-frequency, low speed bumps (manhole covers, potholes etc)?Sounds like a loose strut mount or shock. It's not a creaking sound - a definite rattle - so I don't think it's the engine mount issue that I've read about elsewhere. Car is brand new and is going in for a 60 day courtesy check in a couple of weeks.
View 24 RepliesI have a 2003 1.8t jetta. I got it in the fall and never really needed to turn on my AC until this week. It works, fans work at all speeds, blows ice cold air.
But i noticed today that my fans can be on and nothing. But when I hit the AC button there's a loud rattling sound. Everything works. It's just making noise when the AC is on. Whenever I turn it off the noise goes away.
I tried looking it up and couldn't find anything.
2004 Santa Fe AC fan has started making a rattling noise. It gets louder when the fan is turned up. How can I check it? Noise seems to be under the glove box.
View 3 RepliesWe have a 2013 Hyundai Accent under 57,000 miles and is been making a rattling noise for a little while now. A few times we mention to the dealer when we had the oil change that we heard a noise and it was driving us crazy, for a while they couldn't hear it. We took our car to an independent mechanic and they heard the noise right away, did an oil change and told us to take it back to the dealer because it could be the engine.
We did and they don't know where the noise is coming from, they order some parts and told us that our extended warranty could be void because we didn't use their oil. Is this even legal? They gave us a paper that says since 2012 not to use another oil that is not from Hyundai, they never mention that before and we feel we been taken advantage.
I bought a 2010 Tiguan in April and have loved it, except for an annoying rattle in the dash. I took it to the dealer a few weeks ago and they couldn't find it. Took it back, they had it for two weeks - still couldn't find it, and ended up calling in Volkswagen engineering. Apparently, I have one of six cars that has this problem, VW is trying to find a fix. I picked up my car on Friday and realized that the bluetooth wasn't working and they'd put scratches on my dash. There were also grease marks on part of the plastic, and my gas light was on. Took it back yesterday, they fixed the bluetooth and put a small hole in my headliner in the process. I don't know what to do, the dealer said they would try to patch it, but it's right up front where I'll have to look at it all the time. I really want them to replace it, but at this point I'm worried what else they'll screw up.
View 9 RepliesEngine oil has been changed and spark plugs changed. The engine is still making rattling/clicking noise. I checked with a mechanic and he indicated that engine needs to be repaired. Didn't say exactly what needs to be done and stated it would cost about $2200 for parts and labor. Why the engine keeps rattling and making the noise? Oh, before plugs were changed, the engine was shutting off at times when in idle mode.
View 5 RepliesMy Tiguan is 2013 with 3k miles on it. There is a rattling sort of noise in the 2-3k RPM range which I think is turbo related. It is much louder when cold and quieter when warmed up. Is that normal turbo noise in the Tiguan? If so, why does it minimize when warm? And why does it not continue above 3k RPM? My Audi A4 with similar 2.0 Turbo does not make this noise.
View 9 RepliesI have a 1995 Ford Mustang GT. I've had it for 4 years now, and the engine rattles mostly when the RPMs are between 1500 and 2000, just after pressing the gas. Sometimes it does it when the RPMs are higher, around 2500, and sometimes it does it regardless of RPM after I've been driving it for a long duration. It's done this since I bought it, so it's not a pressing issue, but I'd still like to get it fixed.
View 10 RepliesI have an 2011 rx350 that had a cracked windshield. I got it replaced and ever since there has been a rattling down by the dash/windshield at the drivers side. Now the guys that installed it are very nice and have actually looked at it 3 times since but still nothing to negate the noise. I tried sticking a rag down between the dash and the glass but it hasn't totally gone away. It does appear to be worse in colder weather or when the car hasn't fully warmed up.
