Why the check fuel cap light keeps coming on?
View 6 RepliesWhy the check fuel cap light keeps coming on?
View 6 RepliesI recently had a Jasper rebuilt engine installed in my Ford E150. Since than my check engine light keeps coming on and the computer is saying my cas air mix is "lean". The instaler says i need a new fuel pump.Another mechanic says it is more likely a vacuum problem.I know it's possible that the fuel pump is bad bur since this has just started since the install, I don't believe it can be the fuel pump unless it's just one hell of a coincidence.
View 6 RepliesFuel cap light pops on every now and then. Doesn't do any harm persay, just annoying. What is the cause of this?
View 2 RepliesThis started about 2 weeks ago. Every time I get gas, I fasten the gas cap tightly, and then go to start my car and it won't start. It won't turn.
I'll try once or twice, and then sit for a few minutes. Then I try again, and it'll turn and catch, but then sputter for a minute and I have to keep pressing the gas pedal..after a minute of this, it'll run OK.
Not sure if its related, but the check gas cap light keeps coming on.
The gas cap light comes on when my tank is low on fuel, dealer says it is a small evap. leak. I have an '07...
View 10 RepliesI am getting a check engine light about every 4 days. It is stupid suff like secondary air, or catalytic below efficency... Is there any way to prevent the light from coming on over these faults? I think it would cost me some serious money to fix everything it needs to keep the light from coming on. As you all know, once you fix one thing something else breaks.
View 6 RepliesHow to reset my check engine light as well as how I can figure out what is causing the light to continue to come on. Can't keep going to the dealer to spend $ to have it turned off.
View 1 RepliesI have about 75K on my 03 1.8t on started having the check engine light coming on in the last few months. The dealers diagnosis was that I wasn't tightening the gas cap enough but I don't believe that because I do at least 3-5 clicks when I close it. I'm a bit baffled. After the last time I filled up at the gas station, I noticed the cap was loose so I've ordered another cap thinking the last one has lost its ability to seal properly...
View 3 RepliesI have had 06 passat with a 2.0 turbo. It been a great car. check engine light has come on with a few codes.
P0171 lean air fuel mixture. P2015, p2008, p0507, p2015, p2008.
I recently had some work done on my 2001 1.8t Passat. All new vacuum hoses & camshaft tensioner replaced by VW dealer. Check engine light is coming on and an independent shop near read out a code: Bank 1 mixture adaptation(multi): System too lean.
What does this mean??? And could this relate to these parts being replaced??? Work was done approx 2000 miles ago.
We have a 2003 Passat 1.8t. Had the Check engine Light come on. Went down to AutoZone and hookeded up the OBDII reader. Came up with P0171, Fuel System for Bank 1 was too lean. Probable causes:
1. Fuel Pressure of MAF (If Bank 1 & Bank 2 set codes together)
2. O2 Sensor
3. Ignition Misfire
4. Fuel Injector Problem
Car has 60K - has always run well. Wife says she thinks it's running a bit sluggish. I rarely drive the car, but I think she's right. Car is not missing or running rough.
I cleared the code & started the engine; Check Engine Light is off; then looked at the codes and I find a P0171 (Pending). She tells me that the light has been on before & then gone away. So I guess it clears itself, but eventually comes back.
My check engine light has been on for 3 days i get my appointment with VW and then today i start it up and it goes off. Also, having a problem with very loud squeaking coming from the front bottom left of the engine ?
View 17 RepliesAbout a week ago I got the fuel cap light on a steep hill in San Francisco. Next fill up it looked like the cap might have been a little loose. Can't remember exactly. A few days after the first warning I got a solid check engine light. I have 110K miles. I've had the coil packs replaced twice and the check engine light flashed when that was the culprit.
I've driven the car 4-5 times about 5 miles and the light hasn't gone off on it's own. It is a real hassle to take it to the dealer and I don't have much time. So:
1. Will it clear itself of the issue goes away, or must it be cleared at the dealer?
2. Any other V8 04' had the same issue?
While I am driving the car it will start to die and skip. Happens randomly. Today I was driving up a small hill and it went quits on me started lurching with check engine light coming on and off. The car will turn over and start, but only for a few seconds before dying again.
Seems to happen when the car is running for a while. Also the ABS light flashes on then off randomly while driving sometimes although It hasn't been an issue. Will be checking tomorrow to see if it starts.
I've got a '13 CW Loaded 4DR. Its got just under 40K miles. Tune wise its the STG2+ from I.E., been tuned for maybe 10K miles. I was fueling up and I always tighten the cap correctly as Oregon has Fuel Transfer Technicians, AKA People who don't care whether your fuel cap is on right or not. So soon after the fuel cap light came on, pulled over and tightened it again. Light went away. Next fuel fill up, same thing. Third fuel up, same fuel cap light and then CEL came on.
Ive got VAGcom and checked for codes and got the small leak detected twice and then the large leak detected code. So I was thinking it was just a cap. I swapped gas caps with my brothers MK4 R32 to maybe get lucky and the code returns. Thats impossible for it to fall too, so I dug deeper. I checked the N80 valve as I remember those being an issue on 1.8t and old Flows, So i pinched off the line to it and performed the test again, and bam, no more code for large leak.
I found a couple of threads on this, but apart from a couple of long sentences with no punctuation, i couldn't find anything conclusive. Last week, a couple of days after i last filled up, i got this:
When i got home i did indeed check the cap and it was tight. So i removed it, wiped the top of the filler neck and replaced it. All was well. Last night i get the same, again a couple of days since my last fill:
So, what gives?
2004 F-250 6.0 Turbo Diesel W/ Torque Shift Transmission. Im having a problem with my Check Gauge light coming on and Tow Haul light flashing on my 04 F-250. I got a Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor from my local Ford Dealership. They also said i needed to replace the Transmission harness for this application because of an open circuit.
My questions are, Is Mercon SP the only ATF that can be used on the Torque shift transmission and do i really need to replace the harness or just the sensor? I have read up a little on this and so far everything say's drain the fluid, drop the trans pan, swap out the sensor, replace the trans pan (torque setting is 11flbs I believe, correct me if I am wrong, replace with Mercon SP ATF and your good to go.
I got one this morning and the thing never went away. and yes, i checked my fuel cap. How to remedy this issue or do I need to take it to the dealers.
View 3 RepliesPicked up a new 2012 Prius C a week ago. Check engine light came on. Called Dealership. They said check fuel cap (I had not even used half a tank of gas yet so I did not put fuel in yet) and sure enough it was so loose it almost was off. I tightened it down until it clicked. The question is now....will the check engine light go off on it's own or will I have to take it in to have it re set.
View 15 RepliesThe check fuel inlet light went on. Should we be concerned? What does this mean?
View 9 RepliesJust picked up a Toyota certified 2010 Prius III....less than a week later, the check engine light comes on. Took it right back to the dealer...in which they said its the air/fuel sensor. Toyota warranty services was closed, so they need to check tomorrow if its covered by the remaining warranty or not.
