So I am pretty sure my factory head unit will stream Via Bluetooth from my iPhone or my android, it's pairing with the car for the phone feature.
However it won't let me stream music, there is an Icon on the stereo but it doesn't do anything.
I have a 2012 Prius Two, a monitor with Bluetooth capabilities. I use the Samsung Galaxy Note II with Sprint on Jellybean Android.
I have tried numerous music players on Android and here's what happens:
Music plays fine. Bluetooth paired perfectly. Randomly the entire head unit will reboot. There is no pattern. It happens after about a minute and a half. It shuts off and comes back on.
I do not have an AUX in unfortunately. When I tried my wife's HTC EVO 4G on Android It worked perfectly. Only Bluetooth.
I tried to install entune. No dice. it says that ny VIN is invalid.
I just picked up a 2006 GS300 AWD and wanted to setup my phone to stream Google Play Music through the bluetooth to the head unit... Is this possible? Or am I going to have to hack into the back wires like I did with my ES300 in order to setup an AUX line and connect a bluetooth adapter?

1) is there a way to stream music using this built in bluetooth?
2) The Prius was asking me to SEND my contacts phonebook over to it.... but I don't see an option on my android phone for this...
2013 Prius. Audio worked fine yesterday but on my way to work this morning the car would not play audio from my iPhone 6s. The Bluetooth is connected fine and calling still works but when I play music the screen shows that the music is playing but I get no sound from my speakers. I've tried resetting my phone and turned the car off and on to no avail.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to figure out if I'm dealing with an isolated situation...my iPhone 4's BT music streaming tends to have a slow-down effect whenever I start using the phone. It doesn't have to be a million apps running in the background for it to slow down (as if someone just turned off the turntable while the LP was playing), it could be caused by a simple accessing of the phone main screen... My prior car (Acura TL-Type S '07) worked flawlessly with my iPhone 3GS, so not sure if it's the iPhone 4 or my Prius V...

View 8 RepliesThe Bluetooth audio works fine w/ Enform for apps like Pandora when my iPhone is not plugged into the USB port on the car. However, when the phone is plugged into the USB port (so that I can charge it) the Bluetooth audio cannot be heard. The car looks to still be receiving data from the phone, as the song & album info appear on the display but there is no sound.
Wondering if when the iPhone is plugged into USB port it "mounts" the phone as a drive (for the media player) and therefore shuts down the audio portion of Bluetooth?
I have a Prius two 2012, have been using an old iPod for music over USB, and a blackberry over bluetooth handsfree profile. blackberry phones allow you to manage which BT profiles are connected, I disabled the music over BT profile. but now I just got an iPhone 5s to replace both phone and ipod, it automatically pairs with all profiles supported by the car, no disable or selection per profile. I want to play music over USB, not BT, the quality is better.
But the iPhone doesn't support both, if BT music is enabled, then that is where it goes. i have not found a way to disable the BT music. I confirmed with Apple tech support, they say the car side decides what services to pair with the phone, the iPhone just slavishly does what it is told with no user control options. Looking then at option control on the radio side, i have looked at the radio BT setups, there is no option i can find to select which profiles to automatically connect. How to configure the BT settings so the iPhone is registered only for handsfree and not BT music? Pls note that have only the basic display audio...

View 19 RepliesI switched from an Android phone to a iPhone 4 and after the switch I noticed that sometimes the bluetooth A2DP audio goes out in the middle of playing. The bluetooth does not drop connection or lose pairing, but there just no sound.
I can tap the "play" icon on the Nav touch screen and the sound comes back for a minute or so and goes out again repeatedly. If I don't do anything and just wait, after a minute or two the sound spontaneously returns and usually keeps going.
At first I though it was a problem with the podcast app I was using, but then I noticed the exact same behavior with playing music with the built-in native iPod app.
No audio in the head unit, the service menu is not displayed diagnostics audio.
View 7 RepliesMy JBL head unit keeps dying. My 2011 Prius Three, not III, is currently on its 3rd head unit, and this one is dying also. About once per year, the head unit starts displaying gibberish on the LCD, often with horizontal lines marching upwards. As the problem persists, the display gets worse. Finally, the buttons start malfunctioning. Pressing the power button might eject a CD, pushing a radio preset button might switch to CD, etc.
View 5 Replies I've got a 2007 with Nav and was thinking of replacing the head unit with an Alpine INE-W940 or something similar/better. I spoke to Crutchfield, and they told me that this install would make my MFD unusable, and I'd have a blank screen. I am not certain if the tech meant that it would be useless for navigation or radio/cd control, but still function for other uses like battery monitoring and consumption.
Even assuming that it would still function for car information, etc., I was wondering, using perhaps Lockpick 3 to mirror the display of an aftermarket head unit/nav system to the MFD. I'm thinking this would be a really useful hack.
I installed a alpine power amp - keeping the factory head unit. It sounds much better but I lost the illumination of the buttons on the head unit. I used the Metra connectors and matching the colors and adding wires to connect with the amplifier. There is 12 volts going to the head unit on the orange and white connector but no illumination of the buttons.
2012 Prius v, no JBL, with nav.
Within the week the head unit has started to glitch out. Doesn't seem to be any real issues with any usability- at least yet. I have a 2011 Prius II.
View 1 Repliesvery faint but it's there. Kenwood Exelon head unit and 5chan amp. Noise varies a bit with throttle. Equipment is all decent / good quality. Is this something I have to live with as a hybrid owner? I have a short ground from the amp in the spare well area at the factory battery ground point. Have a dead silent amplified system in these cars?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius II that I am attempting to install a Pioneer AVIC-5000NEX head unit into. After following the instructions in the sticky thread the head unit itself works perfectly, but the car beeps constantly when turned off, and if I exit the vehicle the screen says key not detected. If I remove the Pioneer head unit and plug in the factory everything works great, but anytime I have the factory head unit removed I can not leave the vehicle without the key not detected error.
View 1 RepliesI figured out how to get the text message function to work on my head unit. It was a setting on my iPhone, under Bluetooth it was the "show notifications". Then all of a sudden bam any texts I get while in the car pop up and the HU will read them aloud, also there are a bunch of quick responses.
