Passat (B6) :: Rear Left Wheel Has More Brake Dust Than Others
Overall my B6 has very little brake dust. But I constantly found my rear left wheel has more brake dust than the other 3 wheels, though it's still less than the cleanest wheel on my friends saab 93. Currently the car has 4,000 miles on it. I'm wondering if the brake pad would correct itself over time? Anyway, I'm going to have it checked in 5,000 mile service, just like to know if this is a common problem.

2012 Passat with only 6k miles. I have surface rust on center wheel hub area. Is this normal or should I paint it or is this a warranty issue?

Passat (B5) :: Driver Side Wheel Shakes And Rattle Noise When Slightly Apply The Brake
Ok everyone the good weather is back, so the drivers side window is down and, I am back to diagnosing an issue that I've been having for some time now. BTW were dealing with my DD 02 1.8t wagon. So all the time over any little bumps in the road or anything that i roll over that "shakes" the drivers side wheel I get this terrible rattle noise. I mean it sounds like I am a dump truck bombing down the road with a bunch of shovels in it......well not that extreme but that sort of shake noise. Anyway the noise however does not occur over any bumps when i even just slightly apply the brake. So I know that it has got to have something to do with the brake rotor or caliper or something on that wheel. Any common issues with brakes? I mean i doubt it is hurting the performance of the vehicle but it is extremely annoying and i feel like something isn't stable that should be until i apply my brakes.

97 4.0 ext. As the title says the right front pads wear more than the drivers side. Have replaced calipers pads and rotors during recent overhaul. Noticed increased brake dust on wheel on rf front. Could the metering valve under master cyl be the culprit. Abs and brake lights work as normal.

I've seen a few wheels where people have had the wheel hub mounting machined down in order to change the offset. I can't seem to find the posts where they mentioned having this done so I don't know if they were forged or cast wheels. I'm not looking at anything drastic, just about 3-4mm.
The wheels I'm looking at don't offer the offset I was hoping for and know will work with H&R springs, so if I buy them I'm hoping I can adjust the offset from ET32 to at least ET35. Of course this would only be done if I can get the ET32 to work with running 245/35/20 tires. The wheels are 20x8.5 ET32 currently. Is possible on a cast wheel?

I had the light and sound show pop up on the display of my 00 2.8 wagon this week. The ABS light, the brake light and occasionally the TC light combined with a big STOP in the display and Brake Failure.
I took it to my local and he did a quick scan and the ABS computer isn't communicating, indicating it's fried.

Having issues with the auto-ebrake? My friend has a 09 passat with the push button ebrake. He was changing his brake pads when his ebrake will not release. He was told by VW to not use a c-clamp to depress them as they would mess up the sensors or something along those lines.

So I was replacing a wheel stud and while taking the caliper out, I accidentally unscrewed the brake fluid bolt and it drained a little bit of fluid out. I had to decompress the caliper to put the brake pads in.
Everything was placed back the correct way, now the brake feels too spongy and I have to press the pedal all the way to stop the car. not feeling safe.
I'm not sure what needs to be done here.. did I somehow get air in the system? the brake fluid cap was on the whole time.
Mazda - Miata :: Metallic Scrape From Wheel That Goes Away When Brake
I have a Mazda Miata 2001, 152,000 miles. It's developed a metallic scrape from the right rear wheel. When I'm driving about 20 mph it sounds like a scritch every half-a-second or so, and if I'm going faster it just blurs into a metallic scrape. When I tap the brakes, it usually stops, and then it'll come back a little bit later (maybe when I hit a bump?) It comes and goes, but it seems to be more persistent now (or maybe I'm just always listening for it).
I took the wheel off and sprayed brake cleaner everywhere and I thought that had fixed it, but it came back again after a week maybe.

Vibration in steering started in January soon after full brake job, new rotors, etc. on my 05AvyXLS. Pronounced between 60 and 70 mph where steering wheel shakes in my hands. Had tires balanced and rotated 3 or 4 times, alignment, checked tires/treadwear, in 3 diff stores (incl dealer)...same problem. Just bought new set of tires today, thought prob would go away since all pros thought was a tire prob...negative. Same prob, only even more pronounced!
I'm thinking I have a tie rod, wheel bearing, strut/shock, or some kinda suspension prob? I've spent considerable dough with exactly the same prob. And could there have been something related to the brake/rotor job? My pro says no, unless there is vibration when I brake, which there is not! Vibration occurs b/t 60 and 70, whether I'm in the gas or not, and does not happen when braking! What can this be??

So about a day ago I finished installing my new rotors and pads.. I thought my vibrations are gone.. But I took it for a ride today.. When i brake really hard my steering wheel shakes lightly left and right.. Also when turning right there is a sound coming from the drivers side like the rotor is scraping against something or the rotor shield..? I have a 2002 Toyota Sienna van. My garage failed to check the brake shoes as requested, so I gouged the back brake drums and had to have them replaced. Shortly afterwards, whenever I brake, in the last 2-3 seconds before I stop there is a thumping noise from the right rear wheel. It will thump a few times, maybe 2-5 times, perhaps one thump per wheel rotation. I don't feel any pulsing in the brake pedal, and except for the noise braking seems normal. Could this be due to the shoe adjustment being too loose, so the shoe has room to pulse inside the drum?

I had a realization the other day, based on a Porsche 944, that the "set screw" holding brake rotors are more for the assembly process but are not actually what accounts for the fastening of the rotor on the hub. instead, the 130 Nm torque on the five wheel nuts that sandwich the rotor between the hub and wheel do this. If the torque on the nuts is uneven, but the assembly is otherwise secure, wouldn't one prediction of this be uneven brake rotor wear?

I have my Toyota 2000 4 Runners having a slightly problem. When I paddle the brake at the Stop or traffic light, the wheel turns (mostly anti-clockwise) a little bit like 10 to 20 degrees. It doesn't turn all the time but especailly when the car is going slightly downhill such as when I paddle the brake and stop from parking lot onto the main road. The road is a little dip down or sometimes in front of the traffic light and it was slightly inclined. I don't know if this normal or not.

I have a Hyundai Accent 2001 and today while driving the battery light and brake light both went on and the steering wheel became "stiff" - hard to turn - although driving in a straight line seemed to be as usual.
I would just take it to the garage, but although it still starts as usual, it seems hard and probably a bad idea to drive it there in its current condition.

I have 2012 sonata and she has about 43000 miles. I replaced 4 tires at 40000 miles. Soon after, steering wheel used to shake when I apply brake. So, I got front rotors resurfaced and got new front brake pads which solved the problem of steering wheel shaking. I also got alignment right after installing brake pad.
