Came on while i was driving on the highway, i pulled into a rest stop turned my car off gave it a minute. drove it again and it came on after like 10 seconds.pulled off the next exit, turned it on gave it a minute again and i haven't gotten it on since. this was two days ago.
View 8 RepliesWhile driving on the highway I lowered my seat. Once it got to the lowest setting, I heard something sort of like a snap, and it threw an airbag light, so I raised the seat back up. I'm new to VW, but I know there's lots of possibilities for the light.

So i was driving last night at 6am driving my friend home after drinking... and the airbag light came on on the HWY it said "AIRBAG FAILED" then i went to get gas turned off the car... then the light went away when i left... that would stay on the history on the ECU... i wanna know if i should take it to the dealer..
View 3 RepliesI got my Passat about 1 month ago, and I have this pull to the right. Which is annoying, as I drive quite a bit on the highway.
At the dealer, they "fixed" it by moving the tires around and matching tires with the same side wall rigidity. I got my car back, and it's still pulling to the right.
Had my transmission software updated today with the 20,000 service. Will give it a test tomorrow and we'll see if the "jolt" is fixed.
View 7 RepliesSo I was driving for 6 hours yesterday and about 3 hours in my boost completely cut out on the highway. I didn't get any CEL or EPC light or anything. I took a look under the hood and everything looks okay. I also thought maybe the turbo blew but it isn't smoking or anything. What it could be?? Or some way I can diagnose the problem?? I have a 6 hour drive back home and would like some boost! It is a 2000 Passat 1.8T ....

View 9 RepliesJust got my H&R's put on this week and it felt GREAT! But today as I was driving on the highway (stop and go) then road began to clear up, I felt a tremble (Shimmy) coming from the front of the car. I pulled over and checked to see if wheel lugs were safely secured and they were also check to see if there was any play on the top of the front shocks and they were ok I don't feel it in the steering wheel, I only feel it coming from the front. This has only happened once in the past but only when the car was parked with the ebrake on, but it was a very subtle tremble, I was wondering if it may be a motor mount that is either worn out or loose and or it will need a alignment given that it wasn't done after the suspension got put on.......

Now, when I drive, I notice the passenger air bag light is always on, whether there is a passenger in the seat or not. Is this normal?
When a passenger sits in the front seat, the air bag "on" signal is illuminated, which stays on and I think this is normal. My question is should the passenger air bag light stay illuminated even if no passenger is in the front seat? Any easy solutions or am I worrying about nothing?
Couple days ago the security system was installed. Maybe the tech guy did something wrong..

I've been noticing that my 2012 Passat TDI with 125,000 miles, hasn't been shifting to 6th gear when driving down the highway. I've actually noticed it's one gear too low even when driving down city streets. We have been experiencing extreme cold weather in Pennsylvania, so perhaps that's a factor.
If I manually shift to 6th gear, it stays in gear, but it appears that the engine RPMs are a bit lower than usual as well, but I could be wrong there.
Just had new front tires installed today and drove home. Car felt fine driving at 60 kph. Drove tonight on the highway and felt a bit of shaking. Its not as severe but can be felt sightly. Didn't feel this (slight) shaking with my old worn tires at highway speeds. What could it be? Btw, bought the car used last year at my local dealer and I haven't done an alignment yet since then.

While driving and turning the corner my radio occasionally changes radio stations and sometimes goes to MAX volume! You cannot turn it down or off!
Drives door whistles at 70kph took it to dealer 6 times no solution!

This is on an 2012 SEL, 34K on it. Since the last couple of months, I have noticed that there some wub-wub-wub sound coming the wheels, well, at least from the road surface while drivng on highway speeds.
The sound is just like something is touching the tires, but can't be sure. I may have sensed some very minute shaking as well which may seem correlating with the wub-wub frequency. But as you can see, I am not quite sure how describe it. It is not a distinct sound, not something very obvious. But it is there. I asked my SO too, and both of use can notice the sound independently, so it is perfectly reproducible. The sound appears to be coming from the front, but it is hard to pin point. I also tried opening the window at 65 mph, but the wind and road noise just drowns out all other sounds.
I have thought of getting its wheels balanced as the first step. Went to Costco but apparently they balance only the wheel with tires sold by them on them. I am thinking of taking it to the dealership but want to be prepared by some basic info myself. Hence this question. Hopefully, they wont come and tell me that the wheel drive shaft or some such needs to be changed.
i have an 04 passat 1.8t... I was at the gas station today and the car cut off and would not start back up. I let it sit for awhile and turned it on and noticed a airbag light was on but the car would not come out of park and the display read oil pressure stop?
View 2 RepliesI received an Air bag Fault and Parking Break Fault yesterday when I started the car. Found my (drivers) belt latch sensor wiring was buggered so I fixed that. I don't know if that was the technical name for it, but it was the wiring from the receiving latch to the connector. The parking break fault went away so my guess is that short pissed it off. But who knows, it could be unrelated.
However, the air bag fault will not go away. I thought by fixing that it would vanish, but I guess not.
I have found that the light goes out for a moment and then reappears when the "passenger air bag off" light comes on. The other day, it thought my wife was still in the seat after she got out so I'm guessing the passenger seat wiring is the culprit.
I don't have a VAG-COM so the above detail is all I have. I really don't want to go to the dealer, but do I have a choice?
Driving home on the high way today the amber PCS light starts flashing for no apparent reason. I had been driving for about 3 hours at high speed and was in the last hour of my return from holidays when it came on.
View 3 RepliesIt's a 2000 3.4 ... while i was driving on the highway the ses came on and it started running rough checked it when i got home cylinder 6 misfire came up so i did a compression test it only had 30 psi..there was a hole in a valve so i put on new heads changed the plugs and wires and a bunch of other things. put it all back together and it still does the same thing except now i have 160 psi in cylinder 6. I tried another coil, ICM, fuel injector, plug, wire and nothing changes.
View 12 RepliesI just changed my inverter coolant pump which is running perfectly well. However in recent times, whenever I'm on the highway with ac on or there is a sudden brake, the red triangle light pops up. Checks on the inverter pump show that as far that is concerned everything is working. I'm really getting worried over this.
View 6 RepliesI have VW 99 18L automatic Passat. Suddenly, air bag yellow warning light is ON . There has been no accident or crash. Maybe its caz I pulled the seat-belt too roughly, or maybe there is something else to the story. I don't have a scanner. I don't want to go to a dealer/showroom to get the airbags replaced.
