Passat (B6) :: AC Will Just Stop Blowing After About 3 Hours Of Continuous Usage
Sep 16, 2009
I noticed that on long trips, the a/c will just stop blowing all of a sudden. However, if I turn it off and 'give it a break' it will start blowing normally again. This usually happens after about 3hrs of continuous a/c usage. The entire a/c systems already been replaced about 5k miles ago. What's causing this? FWIW, I just bought the car a few weeks ago and figured since the a/c had already been replaced that I was in the clear...guess I was wrong

2007 passat wagon fsi auto..
Any fuse/relay of any sort for the ac system. My ac stopped blowing cold completely, didn't even fade out. So I was wondering how is best to troubleshoot and also had questions if I could recharge the system myself if that be the problem.

Since the OY recall, the info in my MFD is resetting itself about every 2 hours (avg mpg, time driven, route, etc). It used to only reset when I did it manually, which is what I prefer. How I can change it so it won't reset itself anymore?

When I turn the knob under the clock counter-clockwise to reset/change the hours, it works fine, when I turn the knob clockwise to change the minutes nothing happens? Do running the VAG-COM instrument cluster output tests might fix it?

Why the passat engine stays very hot after hours on turn off? We have a Touareg and the engine does not get that hot and cools faster.

My 2.0T 06 Passat misfires sometimes during cold start after 6-8 hrs of parking. It happens very rarely. I have had the car for 4 years (bought it brand new) and the misfire has happened about 5-6 times. Is this normal? Just wondering if they get logged in the computer system so VW Service can see it? My car has got 47K miles on it.

Friend of mine has a 2000 Passat. He has a weird problem. The car will just shut off in the middle of driving and won't start for 1-2 hours.. the ECU was already replaced, along with some sensors.

I have a 1998 VW Passat station 1.81 Turbo that has started to do something weird. After driving the car, after the car has been parked for 1-2 hours, the car's horn starts honking and the lights start flashing- all this for 20 seconds (approx). We don't have a remote clicker to the car, or after market alarm, so it is not an accidental hit on the button. This started a week ago, and was once a day, now sometimes it is 2 x a day. We purchased this car from our landlord who will buy it back at the end of our stay. We have already replaced clutch and fixed numerous oil leaks. What could cause this?

I have a 2005 Passat Wagon, V6, 2.8L. I purchased this car used about a year and a half ago with 10,000 mi. It now has 32,000. I have done all scheduled maintenance. About 8 mo ago I started noticing a problem when starting the car. It seems to take a while for it to "turn-over" while starting it up. We've taken it to two different VW dealerships to try and solve the problem. About 4 mo ago, one of the dealerships replaced the ignition coil. They were able to read a memory chip of some sort to identify the problem I was having. Since this repair however, the problem has begun again. There is no consistency. Hot or cold temp. After sitting several hours or only a few minutes. The problem happens about one out of every five starts.

From the first day i bought this car i had a strange noise coming under the hood. Every time i leave my car for at least 2 hours parked and then started, when i do a few meters i hear a noise like a hydraulic valve comes in place and my brake pedal does a small movement. After that everything is normal.

I have a 2004 Trailblazer, and just recently the A/C just stop blowing. I have checked to relays and fuses and all are fine, I even checked the fan motor relay thinking that would work. I am at a lost right now and have no clue what else to check.

Have an increase of coolant usage after APR flash??? Coolant levels were never an issue until post stage 1 flash, conservative driver here, open it up very rarely.
I love the software its a totally different car post flashing, but just curious if this is a common issue or if there should be any concerns involving this issue...

I own a Lexus IS250 which on the gas cap says you must use high octane gas. My question is, do you REALLY have to use High octane everytime you gas up or can you safely use mid grade? Say every other time without damaging anything?

My '98 Buick's AC works well when I take it to a mechanic. But when I leave after they say, 'it seems fine now,' a few miles later the cold air starts blowing through the defroster vents, still nice and cold. Then it comes back down to the dash and then goes back up to the defrost. But sometimes it stops blowing altogether, it doesn't blow anywhere! Nothing, not even warm air. And then later everything is fine again, until it happens all over again and I take it to another shop when I hear 'it seems fine now.'.

I have a 1999 Toyota Camry It runs perfect. It has app. 141,000 miles . It uses about 1 quart of oil every 800 to 1000 miles. Why it sees to use more oil if i drive in the mountains and use the transmission as a brake by downshifting to preserve brakes.. There is no smoke I can see and the oil usage seems to go up to about 1 quart of oil every 600 to 800 miles if i drive in the mountains this way just a couple of times.

2010 Toyota Camry xle v6. What is more accurate, miles to empty or the needle gauge. When I use certain brands of gas I notice that the car jerks when driving at all speeds. It's just a slight jerk nothing serious. The brand is Kwik trip gas. I find the the car runs best on 93 octane bp, Mobil, shell, or Cenex.

I have a 94 toyota pick up automatic and my ac works great while I am driving. As soon as I come to a stop light and I am sitting and waiting for it to turn green. The air still blows from my ac but it isn't cold. My truck works great it has about 210,000 miles.

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus I bourg a month ago. The dealer I bought it from replaced the air compressor on June 29. Today I had been in my car for a couple of minutes and was stopped at a stop light when my car idle increased and all of a sudden I heard a high pitched screeching sound. The a/c immediately quit blowing cold air. I turned the a/c immediately to vent and continued to drive home. After raising the good once I got home, I could see a bunch of what looked like rubber and oil shavings down under the compressor. What may have happened?

So I am trying to figure out where my AC system has failed in my car.
The back story is: While I was on a road trip down to southern Utah in the middle of summer (you know, painfully hot desert area), my whole AC system felt the need to blow up in my face.
It all started when I pulled over for gas and noticed a giant puddle of water under my car. Then when I got back on the road, the system was still blowing air, but it was no longer cold (yes the AC was still on). A few miles later the fan stopped blowing all together. Then windows down, riding through the desert, a passerby shouted through my window that my car was smoking, I pulled over to find my AC compressor belt lying on the road under my car.
Now I would love to repair it but I don't know where to start. I have replaced the fuses to no avail (at least the interior ones labeled "blower", but they also seemed to be intact upon a visual inspection).
I have noticed that while on the highway the vents will produce air (not blow it though) of the temperature the gauge is set on (I assume that matters). Also, the AC button under the vent control (air speed) does not appear to light up.

My wife left her overhead light on over the weekend and the battery drained. Once we charged the battery, everything seems to be just fine except the fuel usage gauge keeps jumping around at random. I reset the trip meters but that didn't do anything. What to do? This is a 2013 Prius V 2.

Well its a 1.8t pretty much stock except the previous owner added a turbo-back exhaust and has an apr tune running the 91/93 octane tune and they also deleted the stock airbox.
After the car warms up sometimes I'll get a pretty big puff of smoke on acceleration from a stop. sort of bluish in color and it happens randomly, not every time. I usually have to add oil about every week. I have taken it to a mechanic but told me it wasnt the turbo ( cause thats what i thought at first) and that it might be valve seals instead. I scanned for codes since CEL went on and i got a p0136 o2 sensor code and p0411.
