Passat (B6) :: AC Compressor Tied Up / Hot Air Comes On

May 12, 2011

I bought my early b6 in january and now that it's getting warm I tried the A/C an nothing but hot air comes out. I took it over to my brother shop and he said the compressor is tied up. These things aren't cheap! With 61k on the clock I doubt that the dealer would cover it.

Tiguan :: Liner All Soaked, Sunroof Not Tied To RLS

So recently I had left my windows and sunroof open on a hot day. An afternoon shower came up. When I went out to my car later that day I found the liner all soaked but the windows rolled up and the sunroof still open. It's a 2016 SEL

I have comfort enabled to open and close with both FOB and door handle(KESSY) and confirmed the sunroof operation. I then left everything open, locked and armed the car. Then came back later and poured water on the windshield and watched as the windows rolled up but the sunroof did not move. Tested with it both open and tilted and never moved once. Obviously the dealer is no use as they claim the car is not equipped with that feature.

Lexus GS 2006-11 :: Ticking Noise Coming From Behind Gauge Cluster / Tied To Speed

This started just today. I have a strange ticking noise coming from right behind my gauge cluster. The frequency of the ticking is tied directly to my speed. It begins when I drive off and slows to a stop when I stop (almost like a "baseball card in a bicycle spoke" sound, but just not as loud). What this might be? Could it have something to do with the speedometer? Odometer?

Passat (B5) :: AC Compressor Will Not Engage

The AC in my 2004 V6 4-matic wagon has not worked since the dealer had it in their shop last. Coincidentally, neither does the outside temp display on the dash. I tried one of those recharge kits with the cans but the pressure guage registers 90 PSI when I hook it up, more than enough according to the instructions. So it seems the system is charged and it looks like the compressor will not engage. Could the temperature problem and the AC be related? Manual says it only kicks in when the outside temp is hot enough so I figure how will it know if its hot enough if the temp probe is not working? (unless there is another probe somewhere) ...

Passat (B5) :: AC Compressor Would Switch Off When Car Stopped

My AC is no longer running. Last summer it would struggle to get cold, but when in motion it did pretty well - just not freezing cold. Last few weeks it seemed like the compressor would switch off when stopped. Then past week, I hit the AC button (light comes on, fan switches to low, and the relay clicks) but it sounds like the AC compressor isn't engaging. The dryer is frosty to the touch, but the low and high ports in the bay are warm/hot. I checked the pressure and it was through the roof. I vented some (I know I know) out, but all that came out mostly was air with a bit of the refrigerant squirt once or twice during the vent. Still no success. Should there be air coming out of the low pressure port?

Passat (B5) :: AC Compressor Seized After Tune-up

I recently had a full tune up at 87,000 miles. My receipt does not mention any inspection of the A/C system. 50 miles after the tune-up, my A/C compressor seized. Dealer claimed this was simply coincidence. I think there is a chance that they checked the A/C Coolant level and may have not secured the valve. I cannot find on the internet evidence that this compressor is prone to failure at just 3 years (87,000 miles).

Passat (B5) :: No AC / Compressor Will Not Click On / Fuse Ok

I have an '04 Passat and my AC did not come on this Spring. I had it checked out and the charge is up to normal on the refrigerant but the compressor will not click on. The compressor fuse is also ok. I have access to a Vag Com that my dad has and I'm wondering if that does any diagnostic test further troubleshooting what the problem might be.

Passat (B6) :: Battery Light On - AC Compressor Seized

The car is an '06 Passat 2.0T 83k. A few weeks ago my wife came home complaining that the battery light was on, when I lifted the hood I saw that the belt was shredded and later realized the compressor seized. I replaced the parts recommended; Compressor, condenser, etc., brought it to service station that does our fleet cars and had the system vacuumed and recharged. Now the compressor will not turn on, when I push the button on the dash it lights up but no a/c, the fans dont even come on comes on. The blower and all the related switches works but no power to the compressor. All the fuses are fine, and when the guy at the service station put power directly to compressor it comes on and works fine, he also said the pressure sensor/switch checks out fine. I even changed the controller on the dash, but nothing.

Passat (B5) :: 2000 - AC Compressor Makes Squealing Noise

All was fine with it until a month or so ago. Now, after the car is first turned on and the AC is turned on, it makes a terrible squealing sound. The moment the AC is turned off it stops. If the AC is left on, it will generally make the noise for a good 20 seconds, stop, and then repeat that a couple more times(and the noise will cease for as long as the car is on).

I popped the hood and took a look (I'm assuming the compressor is on the lower left), and when the AC is off it spins fine. However, when the AC is turned on, the fan starts up, then it visibly stops spinning and really struggles to spin, causing the noise. Do I need a new compressor?

Passat (B6) :: 2006 - AC Stopped Blowing Cold / Compressor Is Always Engaged

The A/c stopped blowing cold on my 06 Passat 2.0t. I checked the pressures on the low side of the system and it was 100 psi with a cold engine and 130 when hot. Obviously this is too much. It seems as if the compressor is always engaged even when the a/c is off (every part of the a/c pulley is always spinning the little nut sticking out of the center of the pulley spins as well not but im not sure if that's how it is when the compressor isn't engaged).

Mustang :: No AC Cooling As Compressor Was Not On

My daughter has a 02 stang with the 3.8 . the other day she complained that her ac was not cooling so i put my gauges on it and checked the freon. the compressor was on and the low side showed about 35 and high side was about 225. it was cooling good, now today it was not cooling at all and the compressor was not on so i jumped the pressure switch on the dryer and it came on, pulled the jumper and plugged it back in and compressor came back on and started cooling. I might have a bad pressure switch also about the pressures could the orfice tube be getting stopped up. this car must have had ac problems before with the previous owner because someone has wired the ac clutch 12v+ wire to the outlet side of the pressure switch and the 12v- side to a ground screw.

S-10 :: 2003 - Compressor Comes On But No Cold Air From AC

Friend bought a 2003 s10 pickup. AC does not work so he brought over to my house so we could try to add freon.

Compressor come on when he puts ac switch but no cold air.

I tried to add freon and would not suck it in, can did not get cold.

I tried to see if any freon was in the system by pushing in the needle on the low side and nothing but air came out. I got it to where the compressor clutch stopped working. So I tried to add freon again and still nothing.

Does this sound like the compressor is gone and or the dry evaporator canister bad?

He is willing to get a used compressor and try and see if that is the problem since the compressor had no freon in it. If it still had air in the system and clutch turned on I might think there are no leaks if there was there should be no air in system and clutch should not work/come on.

Golf IV R32 :: A/C Compressor Won't Start?

Well, car is back in one piece now but I'm having problems to make my AC to run again. We change the condenser due to broken line, and now the AC lines are empty, yesterday when trying to refill the R134 freon gas, the AC compressor fails to run. I notice the compressor connector was not plugged in, so I tried to reconnect it and fail to lock the two parts together, for some reason the plug is not plugin !!

Maybe a broken tab on the male socket, i don't know. Other than that, i can't diagnose or make my AC compressor to go on again, what to try ?? All i know is that the compressor is good and should run again, it didn't get any damage from wreck.

Also the airbag light is on, even when no airbag popped out when I hit the curb, anyway, is there any quick fix to that light, maybe a reset or something, what should I inspect for to find the problem.
