Passat (B6) :: AC Blows Hot Air
Apr 11, 2011
I tried to use my A/C yesterday and all I got was hot air. I've only had the car (06) since the end of January.

View 5 RepliesI made another thread about when I turn the AC on, it blows hot for a few minutes, sometimes almost 10. I decided to go get a recharge kit and when I plug it in, the PSI is almost 60-65. It should be around 35-40. Is this normal for these cars?
View 4 RepliesI can't figure this one out. Sometimes I turn it on all the way and it blows very little, barely noticeable and then it comes on eventually. Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes it seems to come on if I hit a bump or something and then off.
View 14 RepliesWhen I start my passat, it blows cold air after a couple minutes as it should. I'll start driving and the air continues to blow ice cold air as it has for years BUT as soon as I stop in a parking lot for a couple minutes or park in a driveway and the car is not in motion, the air blows warm dead air and stays that muggy way until I drive again which then it'll be ice cold again.
View 10 RepliesMy 05 wagon's a/c seems to be acting up. It takes about 30 minutes of running the a/c before it blows cold air. It's under warranty so I'll be taking it in.
View 3 RepliesWhen I turn on the heater on at any temp and fan setting the A/C automatically turns on (compressor and condensor fan turns on) . Engine temp comes up and stays at 190. I can turn up the heat to HI and still cold air blows. All buttons and LEDs work on the climatronic, is it the climatronic that is bad?
View 1 RepliesMy g/f's 98 Passat 1.8T has been pretty bad on being able to blow hot air inside, and now that its colder out its even worse.
Ever since she got the car, the coolant temp gauge is always at it's coldest, so I'm thinking its time for a greentop sensor. Her coolant right now is a lil low so, in the meantime, I'll be headed to the dealer to get both a new CTS and some G12.
Her fan does blow air, but could there be anything else wrong that would keep it from blowing hot air?
Have 2003 V6 FWD Passat. A/C blows hard but quit blowing cold. Noticed last week, that sitting for a long light, A/C would quit blowing cold, then cycle on again every 20-30 sec. After worked fine. Yesterday no cold air.
Read on forums about the 384 relay. My electric fan is NOT coming on. Started car, turned A/C on high, and checked voltage on connecter to fan. was negligible. Car was fully warmed up, so i figure voltage should be 14.0 VDC
Making assumption that it is either the AC relay 384, or the fan relay but there are two, a 214 and a 213.
I have a Buick park avenue 1998, 3.8L V6 engine. the problem is: The ac vent on the driver's side blows cold air but on the passenger side blows EXTREMELY hot air. no matter how cold or hot you set the ac it blows at the same temperature on both sides. Florida heat is setting in and my passengers are melting. I am really hopping that is not something to bad and that I can fix it myself. Tip: this started happening after i had the alternator and the battery replaced.
View 1 RepliesWent to turn on the AC on our 2011 Prius and its blowing out nothing but hot air . The AC lights light up as if it's on and operates as if it's on but it feels like the heater .
View 13 RepliesI installed an Old Air products aftermarket air only AC unit in my 71 F-100 and this unit has run perfect for 14 years until this afternoon. I ran the AC on the way to work, cold as usual, and when I left work it will only blow hot air. The clutch is working with the fan switch, the fan is working at all speeds, the compressor is turning and the fuses are all good. What happened?
View 2 RepliesEvery thing was perfect till suddenly my A/C blows hot air on hot summer days when it over 104 , everything works motor clutch , fans so when its hot outside the motor & clutch turns on & off and wont cool it all started when I refilled my AC, I might of over charge a little. Not sure how to fix.
View 1 RepliesAs the weather here on the east coast is starting to warm I decided to run the A/C. Well low and behold it blows warm air, regardless of what I do. I put it to LO, nothing. I made sure to turn ECON off, nothing, I even tried to cycle the ECON button but it doesn't seem like the compressor is being turned on.
Will be calling the dealer tomorrow, it is well within warranty. Just sucks I have to deal with this, plus I see that there is a TSB out but it only lists codes as to why the compressor, if that is the problem, is not on.
What was done to resolve? The A/C last summer worked fabulously??? So I hope it is not a coolant leak or something like that, hope it is just a faulty sensor or switch.
On start up, on the hot day, A/C takes 4-5 minutes of driving before starting to cool. Not much cold air coming out once it get's going to.... IF Climatronic is switched OFF, then as you drive you can feel hot air coming out from vents and actually fogging up windscreen on the rainy day.
View 8 RepliesMy low-pressure hose got a hole in it and now my A/C only blows warm air due to the leaked refrigerant. How to remove the hose at the connections as it is not using standard steel hose clamps.
View 6 RepliesI got a SFS 2.0 Turbo 2014 about 20 days ago. The car is back with black interior and navigation package.
Since day 1 I had noticed that the fan always blows hot air, no matter what the outside temperature is. Air conditioner cools the car sufficiently, but low temperature setting on the thermostat is needed.I feel the fan is pulling hot air from the engine compartment.
I am due for a service in about 30 days.
So last summer I had the AC recharged. Worked great. I only ran the AC about twice over the winter to lub the seals (about 30 sec) prob not long enough but anyway.
I used the AC this month a couple of times briefly and it seemed to work just as well but today I get NOTHING except hot air. I cleaned the cabin filter, it sounds like the compressor comes on cause I know it makes that kick sound a few secs after hitting the AC button which illuminates. I took a quick look around but didn't see any leaks. fuse looked ok. I noticed the Low pressure line is wrapped.. do i have to take that off to check for leaks?
Does this sound like the refrigerant is low again after only like 6 months. If it worked great last week now nothing does that seem like the issue? Thinking of just filling up from autozone myself. I've also have a bad BCM with intermittent light/dash/window issues which arises in heat for past 2 years.
I have a dual zone climatronic in my 04, I just noticed it last night that regardless of what temperature setting the passenger side is in, it just blows cold air. Winter is fast approaching.
View 2 RepliesAt idle my heater kinda blows hot, at highway speeds i'M a human pop sicle.
View 1 Replies1) no cool air at all from AC
2) low pressure side shows 0 even after adding some refrigerant
3) ac compressor engages. I can hear a slight load on the motor when I push the ac button
4) when pressing the ac button the fans don't automatically come on. They should come on right
I recently acquired a 2003 Mercury Sable from a friend and there is a problem with the air conditioning. The car has digital controls. I select the Max AC button, turn the temperature all the way down (60) an the fan all the way up, but it only blows warm air. I can hear and see the AC compressor cycling fairly quickly. The clutch (I think) engages for about one second and it will reengage after about 5 seconds, but again, it only says engaged for about one second.
What could be the problem? I've read the AC system might not have enough pressure and needs to be recharged. Or... the orifice tube is clogged, bad AC pressure switch, or the actuator that closes the heater door might be disconnected.
How quickly should a properly functions AC compressor cycle? The car was not driven much over the past year or two as it was my friend's grandfathers. I may end up taking it to a shop but I don't want to get ripped off. How should I approach this?
