My A/C smells absolutely horrible every time I turn it on, and I suspect it's the drain hole, but I've searched around underneath the passenger side of the car and found nothing..any specific location and maybe what it actually looks like?

View 5 RepliesIt happened twice since June when we (central NJ) have had really heavy rains. My front passenger side carpet becomes absolutely soaked, but everything else stays completely dry. Do you think the rubber trim has failed? A regular wash is fine, nothing gets in from that. My car is a 2006 B6 with about 97k on it. It's weird.

View 10 RepliesI have a 2011 Camry. When you turn on the vent the air smells bad, kind of a musty fowl smell. When the a/c is turned on, no smell. I changed the cabin filter a week ago and no luck.
View 3 RepliesEvery time you turn the wheel it makes a groaning noise, the power steering fluid is full, it seems to do it more while driving then when at a full stop. sometimes it sounds like it is coming from the center of the car, then it will sound like it is coming from the suspension.
View 2 RepliesI may, or may not have had to jump a curb at 40 mph to avoid rear ending another car. Truck is a 2003 F-150, single cab stx package, 4.2ltr. Long story short, no damage to my passenger side front tire or rim that I can see, but I do have a horrible grinding noise when I turn the wheel either direction. The truck still turns properly, power steering fluid is level. What should I start replacing first?! She's got about 90k miles on it, I'm sure a lot of the suspension parts are due, just need to know where to start!

View 6 RepliesI got this car off of a friend of mine who drove it drunk until the noise from the back wheel was too loud to handle. about 30 miles. he changed the "wheel" put on the spare and drove it for about another month.
during that time, the shifting began to get a little "iffy". he then brought it in to get the brakes done, and as soon as it came off of the lift . it wouldn't go into gear. instead it just makes a horrible noise from the area of the "output shaft" or where i would assume the prop shaft " flange" would be.
that being said. Every once in a while you can get it to go into gear. just by continually putting it from park to drive. and when it goes into gear the noise stops and it drives "fine" but only for about 30 seconds. and then it pops back "out of gear" and makes the noise again.
It sounds horrible, I don't know what VW did but with these Fender speakers but they really sound horrible. Everything rattles.. Then I asked them to install the Jetta anti rattle kit and they didn't even know what I was talking about...saying they never heard of anything like that before.
View 13 RepliesAfter like 20 minutes drive, my car smells like coolant. but it doesn't leak or something. The coolant is on max, and doesn't move at all. so whats that smell. Everybody said you are leaking coolant, but it isn't.
View 3 RepliesMy car smells like burnt fumes when I drive; especially in the cabin! At first it occasionally smelt this way, only when I stepped on it. Now its constant. The valve cover gasket has been changed, and it still smells! The next step is to delete the PCV. These fumes are making me sick; rolling down your windows does not work....
View 6 RepliesOver the past year we have been noticing that the HVAC blower doesn't turn on from time to time. All settings in the control panel seem normal and the fan speed is turned on. Most of the time everything is working normally, sometimes when the car starts the blower isn't working and then starts after a minute of driving. Sometimes I notice the blower isn't working and I turn up the fan speed and after a few clicks it starts working normally for the remainder of the drive. And then sometimes the blower doesn't ever start and I need to turn off and restart the car a few times. When the blower hasn't been working the a/c compressor has been turning on, something in the blower circuit is failing.
There are five possibilities:
The HVAC controller isn't telling the blower to turn on
The power relay isn't always working
There is a wiring or connection problem
The blower motor itself isn't working
The power mosfet is failing.
What needed to be replaced?
My 07 2.0T (101k mi.) Passat idles roughly when in the drive position (at a stop light, or sign, etc.), the engine sounds "gruffy", and suffers from a slight loss of power with horrible gas milage. I've had spark plugs and the coil pack replaced two weeks ago, and still can't seem to find the source. There are no misfire codes or any others showing up. From reading many posts here, I've found that a common issue is carbon build up for similar symptoms of my car. Do I need fuel injector cleaner, and or valve stem cleaner, etc? As far as the possibility of cleaning out the intake valve, I only open the hood to add oil, washer fluid, check my oil, and wipe down the engine.
View 5 RepliesI have a 1984 Ford F-150 with an I6 engine and a motorcraft carburetor. The truck absolutely will not idle. So I got to looking at the carburetor, and found this red hose going from the carb to a metal pipe, the pipe was just dangling there not connected to anything, and the end it rusted off. I'm pretty sure I know where the other end is supposed to go to, I just don't know how to get there as obviously I am missing some parts and I can't find them so they must have been lost on the road somewhere.

I'm sure this is a common issue, but I don't know exactly what to search for. I have a 2001 F250 7.3L. When I stop my truck, with my foot on the brake, the steering absolutely doesn't work. I replaced the PS pump, which it needed, plus all the hoses and it got better, but the no steer problem while braking is still there. I have seen that an upgrade in pressure hoses may work?
View 1 RepliesSo according to the manual that comes with the car, "ESC is switched on all the time." There are only instructions for turning off traction control.
Why Electronic Stability Control sucks: "Then there is the ESP. I don't even plan on bringing this car to the track until this is resolved. Last thing I need is the car thinking it needs to pull my throttle or apply the brakes because it thinks I'm 'out of control.' That is just an accident waiting to happen."
So how to turn off stability control yet? I'm kind of hoping APR (or any other tuner) would include some sort of flash with their tune that makes the 'ESP OFF' button also disable stability control (and not just traction control).
These guys disabled ESP by pulling a fuse. the only problem is that it also disables ABS and a couple lights : [URL] ....
My golf, made in 2008 (1.6 FSI, petrol), has a tricky problem now. When I turn on its engine for the first time in the morning, its RPM goes over 10 (12~13) with louder sound than normal. So I turn it off and on again, and then everything becomes immediately fine: RPM is below 10 and the sound is just fine. After that, the problem does not happen again all day. But it happens in the next morning when I turn on the engine for the first time in the day!!
View 2 RepliesI'm getting a mildew smell every time I turn on the AC in my Tiguan. Even if the car is warmed up and shut off for 5 minutes, when turned on again, the smell is there. It's a 2012 with only 15k miles and the cabin filter is brand new. I was thinking of getting the mold sprays to apply directly to the vents. What to do to resolve it?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2000 Mazda B4000 with 2 little problems I don't know anything about. First is when I go to start the truck it takes a long time to turn over. A friend of mine said that a valve is not maintaining fuel pressure so the fuel is not sitting ready for the starter when I go to start up. But if i engage the key for a few seconds and time it right it will turn over easily (apparently allowing the fuel pressure to build to the appropriate level). Is this a little valve or gasket or something I can replace to maintain the pressure?
Second, when I'm coming from a stop or accelerating out of a slow roll there is a 'shudder' or 'shiver' in the drivetrain that almost feels like the shift from 1st to 2nd is just kinda lumpy. It also happens if I come to an abrupt stop, so gearing down into 1st. It doesn't feel like something that is getting worse, but I don't want it to be causing damage or have my driveshaft snap or something.Other than that this truck seems really well maintained by the previous owner, and a mechanically inclined friend of mine said everything else looks.
Now that summer is here the AC is in use. So the procedure is turn on engine let it run for one minute or a few minutes then turn on the AC. When I turn on the AC almost all the time the engine stall. It does not die but it stall really bad. Is fine after that at stop light and in traffic. Not sure what to make of it.
