Passat (B6) :: 2009 - What Is The Wheel Lock Key Size
Jun 25, 2013
Which wheel lock size was OEM on a 2009 Passat? I checked my trunk last night and couldn't find the key. I know it'll be catastrophic if I get a flat and don't have one...

I own a Honda 2009 Accord EXL with about 25,000 miles. Over the last 5 years a problem has occurred randomly (at least 8 times) and up to last week I was able to over come it. The problem is: when attempting to start the car you find that the steering wheel, shift lever, and ignition key lock are all "locked" up. Nothing can be moved or turned. Thus you can not start or move the car. Up until last week I would jiggle the steering wheel or the shift lever and it would unlock. I took it to the Honda dealer after the first few times and they all but laughed at me . Then last week nothing I did could to get the devices unlocked.
I called the local dealer and he advised having it towed in, which I did. When the tow truck driver arrived he showed me the hidden compartment next to the shift lever and inserted the key. This did unlock the steering wheel sufficiently that we could get the car aligned with the tow truck. And I was able to insert the key and start the engine. But when I attempted to shift the car it acted as if it remained in neutral. In other words the engine roared but no motion no matter which gear I selected. We managed to get the car onto the tow truck and delivered to the dealer. Of course when the dealer looked at it, all was well no problem.
The dealer kept the car and "went over everything" and "found nothing wrong". They said they "have never experienced" this problem before and their home office confirmed that. The Dealer's solution: If you park the car, shift to Park, and turn it off and then turn the steering wheel counterclockwise hard, a click is heard and the whole car is locked up. The dealer showed me that by pushing hard on the brake, forcibly turning the wheel, and at the same time playing with the ignition key with a little luck it all unlocks. (Notice he did not indicate using the hidden compartment trick.)
I find it strange that the dealer has "never ever experienced this issue", yet has a "work around"!! Though I must admit it does work when you purposely "lock" the steering wheel (the random act has not occurred again so far). My question : is there some fault to the electronic (or other) sub systems which should be fixed? I just hate to have my wife out alone and run into the situation again.

I have a 2007 Toyota Solara SLE Convertible. Three of my wheels are bent due to hitting various potholes over the past year as well as hitting a curb. I want to replace these wheels with other wheels of the exact same size so that I can use the tires that I already have (since I just bought them) and so that they do not rub on any other part of the wheel well or hub. I have concluded that the size is 17" x 7", that they 5 lug nuts at 114.5 mm. However, I cannot determine how to measure the offset. I have read multiple threads about which offset they are (some say 45 and others say 50). I just need a definitive answer so that I can replace them seamlessly. Its a BUMPY ride right now.

I've got a 70 F250. When I got the truck it come with extra wheels. So I have 9 wheels altogether. I know originally they came with 16.5 wheels. However the tires on most of the rims say there 16" and 2 say there 16.5". They all seem to be the same size rim though. So how do I know if they're 16.5 or 16? And I"m guessing 16" tires should not be mounted on 16.5" rims.

I have a Hyundai Sonata w/ P215/55R17 tires.
I am almost due to get new tires and my husband says that we should switch the wheels and get regular tires, not the lower profile tires that were OEM w/ the vehicle. The current tires are expensive and regular tires would be less expensive in the long run. When I asked at the dealership 6 mos ago they said that it would not be good for the car and would adversely affect the performance. If I do change, what tire size (regular sidewall height) would be appropriate (and less expensive)to change to?

So just as I think I have it figured out what size tire and wheel combo I want to go with, I began thinking about going from an 18" wheel to a 17". I can save some cash, have a few more tire size options and save on tire weight.
I know alot of guys go up to a 20" setup but that's just not my preference on trucks.
Any negative to doing this? 315/75/17 tire size interests me. Had that on a Wrangler and liked the look. Going to look a little more at 17" sizes before deciding.

1999 explorer Eddie bauer. Front wheel bearing nut size? 33mm?
Looking for a torque spec procedure. Need to replace an abs sensor. Sensor alone was 120 bucks so just bought the whole hub assembly with sensor. Might just put the whole thing on.
Is there a good thread for a complete socket size portfolio on the explorers. Thinking sizes over and above normal socket sizes found in your typical socket set?

My leaf spring swap is almost complete... its been almost 3 weeks with all the conflicts of life but its getting near completion. Just have to do front passenger side now.. Tomorrow and it should all be done.. hopefully... Any ways... my preliminary numbers are 40" front (ground to fender) and 41.5" rear.. Might be 1/2" to 1" off since I haven't finished the job AND the truck is sitting on dirt. Any ways, What size wheel/tires can I fit on there now? And will I need a spacer with that size?

One of the caliper does not fully retract when I don't push the brake, the wheel is hard to rotate when the car is on the lift.
I pretty sure it is the square ring the problem.
I know that those square ring worth only a couple of bucks.

Been looking at a level for my truck and some new wheels and tires. If I change sizes, can the dealership recalibrate my Speedo and transmission shift points for me?

I was wondering what the maximum size tire with no lifts or leveling I could put on my truck would be. I was looking at a pair of Nitto grapler g2's at 295/70r17 with my stock wheels. Would that fit?

I am sure I read somewhere that the 2014 advanced and/or advanced tech had larger wheels but am unable to confirm that now. Whenever I switch to EV mode after turning on the vehicle, it starts the ICE. Is this normal? If so, why would it do that?

I am in the middle of removing my winter wheels and attaching my neuspeed rse14s. I was tightening the last bolt on the last wheel when the wheel lock key must have not been seated in the bolt, popped out and now some of the pattern inside is stripped. It looks to be some type of white metal where the inside of the bolt looks like it is steel so hopefully if I can get a replacement key I can get everything tightened properly.
I am debating on driving the car home in the next little while. The other 4 bolts are obviously fine and have been torqued to spec and I believe I got a fairly good amount of pressure on that final bolt before I stripped the key. I have a short 8 mile commute home and another 8 mile one back tomorrow morning. I can then take it to my local shop and have it removed or snugged down.
Aside from the obvious like the tire coming loose or off is there any other risk of damage to the car or rim? I will obviously take it easy and keep an eye out for any weird vibrations.
