Passat (B6) :: 2009 - Strange Noise When Idle

Lately or maybe I never really paid attention to it, there's this strange noise at idle. 2009 passat w/ 35k mi(auto trans). Noise sounds like a small dog growling or a swarm of bees. Doesn't always make the noise but sometimes when I come to a stop light or pull into my driveway I can hear. Sometimes the noise is constant or it cuts in and out. Pooped the hood and it sounds like it is between the back of the engine and fire wall.

This has happened about half a dozen times while accelerating. It sounds sort of like it's between a scratching noise and a rattling noise. It's only happened at highway speeds 50-60 mph while accelerating and will stop when I let off the gas. There have been a few times that i can get it to come back if i step on the throttle again, but will not duplicate every time.

My 1993 5.0 liter bronco is making a strange ticking noise. when it's idling, and it ticks, the idle drops. then it will tick again and the idle will raise up. usually between the 600 to 1000 rpm range. it just started doing this and never did before.

I just bought a 2009 Prius. Sometimes I accelerate and brake, there is a strange grinding like noise. Seems like its coming from the inside of the car, maybe in dashboard. I'm not familiar with all the sounds the Prius makes, but this doesn't sound like any noise I've heard in a car.

I've run into a very strange whining noise in the mornings on my 2010 Corolla S.
I've done some diagnosis and the issue only occurs when it gets chilly out (below about 50 degrees). When you go out to the car in the AM with things dead cold and turn the key into the run position before you start it the noise starts up right under the dash on what sounds like the passenger side. I've tried the fan on and off and it doesn't seem to affect it. It does seem to be lasting longer and it really sounds like a bad bearing in a small motor. As the car warms up the noise disappears and doesn't reappear unless it cools down all the way, which usually means it has to sit overnight.
It doesn't seem to affect how the car runs so I'm guessing it's not a primary system, likely something with climate control or AC?

I have a 2010 F-150 FX4 SC 4x4 5.4l w/ automatic that has 52,000 miles on the clock give or take, unmodified with the only exception of a remote oil filter relocation unit.
I bought the truck with 48,000 on it and did not have this noise, I've had it back to the dealer and their best mechanic went for a ride with me and the noise was duplicated and the mechanic had the deer in the headlight look on his face and said he'd never heard anything like that before. I've searched the net for anything similar like this but have not found anything. The noise rears it's ugly head after the truck is warmed up and it first started around 55mph and went away at 65mph , then re-emerged at 75mph and left again at 82mph.
Tried the usual test things while noise was present first loading and unloading the steering left and right, (wheel bearing) no change. Next I applied the brakes (caliper rubbing) no change. Then I tried shifting to neutral (transmission or carrier bearing) no change. I also tried shifting into and out of 4x4 (transfer case) no change. If I speed up above those speeds or slow down below them, the noise disappears.
Recently... the noise seems to be more consistent and when it's present at 80mph and you let off the throttle, the noise is present all the way down to 55mph then magically goes away. The noise to me sounds like a vacuum leak in a rubber hose or a dry spinning shaft in a bushing, sort of a low hum that sounds like it's coming anywhere from the motor to the transmission area.

At work we have a 04 Passat 4motion wagon that has a strange noise coming from behind the dash. The best way I can describe the noise is like computer hard drive loading. It happens continuously even when the radio/cd player is on.

I currently have the P0299 code for underboosting. I am pretty certain that i need to replace my wastegate actuator because i can hear it rattling on deceleration.
My plans are to replace it at the same time I replace the timing belt since it would be a decent opportunity to remove the turbo to change the WG actuator. However, I still can't figure something out. When I am starting to accelerate from a stop in 1st gear (and only 1st gear), there is a loud screech, lasting only a second, coupled at the same time by a quick and noticeable loss of power; as if boost was released. I typically shift out of 1st within 2500-3700ish rpm, if that makes any difference.
From what I have researched, this sounds like the turbine making contact with the housing. I may be wrong, but that does not add up to me because I am only experiencing this problem in 1st gear. We are talking about a 2003 B5.5, Engine Code AWM. No mods, 100% stock.

I have a 2014 passat 1.8T with 2500 miles. I noticed that i am starting to hear a noise mainly when coming to a stop. Sounds suspension related , sounds like a suspension spring sound - kind of hard to explain.Only 2500 miles and strange noises already?

I have a 2000 vw 2.8 v6.
I got it back in February and it ran great up until now. A couple months ago while driving home my cel started flashing and right when the light came on I could immediately feel an immense loss in power and when I got to a red light it would shake like mofo. Gettin up to speed was suddenly a huge problem and the car would make a strange noise and I could smell a strong odor of gas and slight oil. I have a valve cover gasket leak that I paid 300 bucks to replace but after a week I realized it's still leaking oil so that 300 bucks just went out the window. The sluggish performance and cel went away the next time I drove the car and it ran awesome for over a month till one day while I was on my way home from grabbing some lunch it all of a sudden started happening again. Sluggish performance, smell of gas and slight oil, wouldn't get up to speed.
I brought it to my local vw dealership to have it looked at yesterday figuring that they'd be able to tell me exactly what was going wrong. I got a call early this morning saying that the oil leak in my valve covers are causing my coil pack to short out and foul my plugs and wires and then told me it was going to cost 1,700 bucks with all the parts and labor. I'm not very mechanically inclined when it comes to vehicles so it's not like I can do the work myself but my main question is, how can the oil cause the coil pack to short out seeing that oil is not conductive and some cars actually use oil to cool the packs down. Is that a legitimate diagnosis or is the dealership mechanic Actually right or is he just getting creative trying to squeeze some money out of me.

I've had my ISF for about 3 to 4 months. I absolutely love the car and i haven't seen too many of them in this area (central NJ). I wonder why lexus hasn't done a better job of informing the public. Most people don't even know that lexus makes a V8 sports car.
When the car is on idle, there is this strange vibration that i feel coming from under the seat. It happens for a few seconds and then stops and starts again when the car is on idle. It happens when the car is not warmed up, but also when the car is properly warmed up. I'm not sure if its a cause for concern. Is it because of the timing belt? Engine? Just want to make sure its normal and have the car looked at if its not.

Today I should make trade for MKIV R32 and I only thing I'm bit worried is this one sound. It appears when speed is over 40 mph/60 kmh. And especially then when I set my gas pedal loose / idle. The sound seems to be coming from back and it reminds the sound when you leave your window just little open and wind blows in making very similar sound. It is high frequency sound and not loud but still can clearly be heard. Almost like whistling type of sound. Then when speed decreases below 40 mph the sound disappears.
The car has milltek resonated exhaust.
Only thing I could think of is that if there could be some hole in exhaust pipe or in window caulk/seal..

I started noticing a strange idle when stopping or sitting at a red light. Upon stopping the car idles at around 600, then all of a sudden it jumps to around 1000-1100, and sits there as if I was giving it gas. As I drive off the car drives fine, once I stop again, the same thing repeats. This happen to me 2-3 times already within the past month, I mostly drive on the highway, so that might be a reason I don't notice it often.

So my rpm bounces at idle and there is a strange whining sound which seems to be in unison with the peak of the rpm bounce.. and it all stops when the heat or a/c is off.

Allright, I seem to be having these very strange sounds at idle. Mostly when I am in Drive and waiting at a red light. In Park, it isn't as bad it seems.
One sound is knocking. A kinda slow one and irregular. Not a motor knock tho. Doesn't sound like that. It also kinda clicks from under. So, those both sounds come from under or the sides of the truck.
Should I worry about this? I've had these sounds since I've got the truck. Sometimes louder than usuall.

I have a strange rattle from the center vent. This happens only at idle when at light or stop sign. If I move shift to N the rattle stops. This happens after car is warmed up to operating temp. seems like maybe the idle is a bit low. I have 35k miles.

I've had good running on the truck but lately in the cold the idle has a weird skip to it like it's missing on a cyl. It will start fine, and run fine for about 30 seconds. Then it will start to mis. When giving pedal it goes away and it's driveable but it doesn't sound right. After a bit of running it's fine for the duration while warm. My monitors are I think all good, 48.5v, icp about 1250 psi. Is this the famed "injector stiction"?

There is one thing that i find weird, i hear a noise that sounds timed grr grr grr grr when the car is at idle. moreover, i hear this grr grr grr noise after the car has been driven for a while, when the engine is cold, I do not hear anything. also this timed grr grr grr noise is only heard from inside the car, but it is definitely coming from the engine area. the sound comes and goes, performance has not changed but the sound is really bothering me every time I stop at a light. i do not hear it while the car is in motion or while accelerating only at idle.
