I have an 08 Passat Komfort - the manual says you can activate the windows open or closed with the push button key fob - mine isn't working and the salesman says it's not on this year car, but it has instructions in the 08 manual - am I missing something ? does this need to be turned on or something ?

I'm kinda worried about this while I'm offshore because I have a power sliding window and I don't want it to ruin anything that moves the window. Do these trucks have a problem with this and where do I start to look at to fix this?

Which steering wheel control module would I need and what is the price on that?
Besides the steering wheel control module and programming via VCDS/VAGCOM, do I need anything else for this to work?
The steering wheel controls, horn and cruise control recently died in our '08 wagon. The fact that they went out suddenly and simultaneously suggests that they might be tied to a fuse. I looked around the intarwebs via google and saw some references to a problem with HomeLink wiring in the sunvisor blowing "fuse 5" on older models, but I'm unsure if something like this is even valid for the B6.

View 11 RepliesIts strange but since the other day the rear right window comes down sporadically when I push the window button on the driver console. When it does come down I am able to get it back up but when it closes all the way thats when it doesn't want to come back down. There is a tree sap problem where I live that gets all over the car. I'm wondering if the sap particles are having an effect on the ability to lower the window. When the window is stuck all the way up I can hear the motor in the door.

View 2 RepliesAt the 150K mile mark electromechanical components are starting to fail (Nav DVD reader, CD changer, 2 starters (they seem good for only ~70K miles), brake switch, etc.) which is probably reasonable to expect, even in a non-humid climate. Recently, the controls for the passenger side window stopped working. Some details:
- Driver's side window control works to control driver's side window
- Passenger side window switch LEDs are not lit on either door
- Passenger side window rolls up and down when top is changed to up or down position
Given that the motor is proven good by the fact that the window goes up and down with no problems when the top's position is changed, I'm inclined to think that there is probably an issue with the "COMPUTER MPX DOOR" component in the passenger door.
How to remove the window control panel on your door panel on a 2010 prius? I'm not looking to remove the whole door panel I just want to take the little panel that has the 4 window controls off.

If I hold the left rear window switch in the up position, the rattle stops, but when I leave it alone, it comes right back! I'm the kind of person that goes nuts when something in the car rattles, so I gotta get it fixed!! A long shot, but is this something the warranty might cover?
View 3 RepliesAll my windows work, except my front passenger side window. It will go down, but not up from the driver side switch. It works from the passenger side.
I did NOT replace my battery or lose power. It started when I was driving and wanted the window half way down, but it kept going fully up or fully down. I finally got it to where I wanted it to be, but after that i could no longer bring it back all the way up. It can go all the way down, but no longer up.
I am a newbie Gx470 owner. I just finished a timing belt job on my 2005 Gx470 with 127K on the clock. After the work, the driver's master window control would not activate any window but the drivers. On a recent outing my wife activated the passenger' window. I suddenly regained control of that window from the drivers position. You guessed it, when I ran the rear windows up and down, I regained control of them also.
View 3 RepliesAn attachment point, on the front lower frame, broke, allowing the window to drop. I had the frame welded and put it all back together. The window went up and fine. The next time I tried to lower the windows, neither side would work. I checked the fuses. They were all good. I changed out the driver's side master control switch because some of the button contacts were corroded. This did not work. The window lock button is on the off position and the power door locks, which are on the master control switch, work fine. Could it be the relay?

I replaced the master switch on the driver side and it still does not work. I have checked the fuses--Side, below and under the hood and have even found inline fuses below--all were good. Could the dealer have to program my new switch? I do not have child safety locks.
View 2 Replies2008 crew cab - passenger front window will not respond at all from master driver side switch. from the passenger side switch it goes down only. I purchased new regulator/motor assembly on advise from an experienced mechanic and a service manager from a Ford dealership. The new motor does the same thing - down but not up and only from the passenger switch. An Autozone manager said that was wrong advise. that if the motor went in one direction it was fine and it was a switch problem. I purchased a new main driver side master switch....same problem.
View 6 RepliesReplaced the battery on my 07 the other day, and subsequently discovered my passenger side power window would not open or close from driver side control switch. Initially thought the worse of course, that I needed a new motor for the passenger side window. Then I tried the passenger side window switch and the window worked fine.
So now, I think that the switch for the passenger side window (on the driver's side) is bad, and I will need to replace the whole switch control module. Did a search and found the root cause and solution to the problem. Apparently, after replacing a battery, I needed to RESET the passenger side switch from the passenger side, by HOLDING the switch approx. 3 seconds after raising and lowering the window two times.
It seems like i fix something next day something brakes. Ok, this is the issue in the rear passenger side door, the power window motor works fine, but the window wont go down, when I pushed the switch down I can hear the motor running but the window stays up but i can push the window down with my hads, having the window down "manually" if i pull up the switch the window WILL GO UP that's why I think the motor is fine but not the thing that hols the window, i think is out of place or the thing that holds the window broke. How to put the window in place, or if broken what part to buy and how to install it.
View 1 RepliesI am not sure, since now, that my RWD has ever worked, the fuse is fine, the light comes on, the lines on the window are not broken. No defogging. Connections seem good everywhere.
