OK, on my 2008 B6 wagon when the park brake is on, you can release it by tapping on the gas pedal (door closed, belt fastened and engine running). On my 2007 B6 wagon you have to additionally have the Auto Hold on. I dislike Auto Hold and get tired of poking the button all the time. Is there a way to upgrade the 2007, so you don't have to use the Auto Hold? Maybe change the EPB module or change it with VCDS?

View 13 RepliesI have a 2015 Sonata 2.0t limited with 12k miles. Just few weeks back I started hearing a noise when I would step on the accelerator after a full stop, when the auto hold feature was turned on.
With the auto hold feature off and my foot on the brake, I don't hear that sound when I release the brake. It only happens when the car is stopped and the auto hold is on and i step on the accelerator.
I took it to the dealer and he is saying the brake calipers need to be cleaned up. I'm not convinced it's the brake because I don't hear the sounds when I don't use the auto hold. What can I do to fix this?

View 4 Replies2008 Passat 2.0T auto, started occasionally shifting with a loud bang into and out of park, and from forward into reverse and reverse into forward. No MIL, pending transmission communications error code. Would accelerate very poorly up until about 30mph and then accelerate normally. Shutting the car off and then restarting would usually clear up the symptoms. Started happening about once a week over a 3 week period, and then started happening about about every other day. With it happening more often, had an opportunity to experiment a little, and by shifting into sport mode (which causes the MFD to display the gear that the transmission is in) noticed that the car was not shifting into 1st to 3rd gear, but starting off in 4th. With that and the rough shifts in and out of park, I thought that it was probably transmission related,
With a tranny being $$$$ and the battery being 4 years old, and relatively cheap to replace, I decided to play the long shot and see if a possibly weak battery was causing an electrical problem in the transmission. The battery checked out OK at a couple of places, but decided to give it a shot and replace it anyway.
Installed the new battery (Bosch from Pep Boys $109) and had every warning light on the dash go on with the first restart, along with a return of the harsh shift out of park problem. Shut the car off, turned it back on, drove five miles, all the warning lights went out, and no return of the transmission problem after 5+ months and 10K miles.
Just a heads up - if your battery is 4+ years old, and you are getting any odd problems that could in any way possibly be related to the electrical system - which includes just about every system on our cars - consider going for a new battery. Worked for me.
My 07 AT 2.0 has a weird problem - when auto downshifting after a long drive at highways speeds, the whole car thuds. This happens after driving about 20 miles or so at 60MPH+. 5 or 10 miles are not a problem.
What happens is that when it slips down into 2nd, it sounds like something jams (no grinding). The force/feeling is similar to running into something at a slow speed - like bumping a car while parking.
If I slip into Tip and downshift manually, it doesn't happen. Outside of this the car has 22K miles and drives great.
The "hold" button by the shifter. I tried looking it up and found nothing. i even pressed the button and it didn't seem to do anything...

View 14 RepliesSo i think I have a bad EGR valve cause I've eliminated o2 sensors, MAF, Spark plugs, coils, vac leaks, Fuel filter, and Fuel injectors. Truck throws P0172 and p0175 code, surges in RPM's at 10 MPH when hold steady on gas pedal, exhaust makes a popping sound like popping popcorn. I reset the PCM and unhooked the MAF and it ran a little better but still get the other symptoms.

View 3 RepliesRan my battery down on my car when I left my lights on and proceeded to work an 8-hour shift.
Came out and stuck my key in the ignition. Nothing happened, which is when I realized my plight. The dang ignition wouldn't release my key! This meant I couldn't get into the trunk by key. I pressed the (stupidly electric) remote trunk lock. That's where the jumper cables are! Did I mention it was below freezing and I wasn't dressed for sustained outdoor shenanigans?
Fortunately, I was able to flag down co-workers with jumper cables, after a time. We opened the hood--praises, they actually left a cable-actuated device on the car!--and got going. None the less, it was a close scare.
1) Why does the ignition "grab" the key without battery power?
2) How does one defeat 1)?
3) Is it necessary to store my jumper cables INSIDE the car?
4) What mental giant decided a trunk latch that's INOP with a dead battery was a good idea?
I have a decent working understanding of a lock cylinder--6 or so spring-loaded wafers that retract into the cylinder body, allowing it to turn--but I don't see how that requires current flow to work. If it's a "safety" feature, how do I disable it, permanently?
There's this 99 b5 sedan at my local junkyard with wheel locks on and I need to get into the trunk to see if the key is in it. all four doors are unlocked, no key, no battery.
is there a way to get into the trunk from the rear seat and trip a manual trunk release?
Is there anyway to disable this in vag-com? I am getting annoyed, i have to move the car a few metres every night, and i cant move it without putting my seatbelt on, which is a good idea, but its silly. Can turn it off?
View 5 RepliesHow to remove hood release and plastic trim from driver side covering wires going along driver door, left rear door and to the trunk? I am trying to install subwoofer and amplifier in the trunk need to fish wire through the car from battery to a trunk, and got staked with hood release (opener), i can't remove it and piece of plastic where you put your feet holding together. I don't want to brake anything.
View 2 RepliesMy problem is that I get a pretty good pop from the main release inside the car. The hood doesn't come up too much, and the secondary release tab does not pop out from under the hood. I've managed to get the grille off. The tab will move back and forth a little, but then stops. Even yanking on it will not cause it to release the hood the rest of the way.
A couple of the fixes out there are spraying some lube in there (done) and popping the latch with a screwdriver (can't see how to do this on my car). There is even one for drilling a hole to get access, but I think this might be a B5 thing?
2008 Ford ranger 4x4 fx4. Rear brakes drag just enough to notice, only when temp out side is below freezing. Replaced drums and shoes. stopped using emergency brake. Had wheel cylinders inspected.

View 4 RepliesOn my 2004 F-150 (new style) the passenger seat belt will not release. What steps do I need to take to find the retractible mechanism in the back portion of the seat? Does one have to cut the fabric? I removed the head rest and the top portion where the belt rides but can't locate the retractible part.
