I have the below multi-function steering wheel installed on my 2008 Passat. The steering wheel came out of a 2010 CC and the buttons do not currently work.
Which steering wheel control module would I need and what is the price on that?
Besides the steering wheel control module and programming via VCDS/VAGCOM, do I need anything else for this to work?
The steering wheel controls, horn and cruise control recently died in our '08 wagon. The fact that they went out suddenly and simultaneously suggests that they might be tied to a fuse. I looked around the intarwebs via google and saw some references to a problem with HomeLink wiring in the sunvisor blowing "fuse 5" on older models, but I'm unsure if something like this is even valid for the B6.

View 4 RepliesFor the past week I have had the steering wheel and traction control warning lights come on after I start the car after sitting for a long period of time. Once I drive the car a few feet the warning lights disappear. The model is a 2007 2.0T with 72,000 miles. What are next steps or should I head to the dealership? I'm out of factory warranty but have a third party warranty that expires at 75,000 miles.

View 5 RepliesI have an 08 f150. Doing an Alpine iva w203 head unit. The back of the factory radio has two harness plugs, one is bigger than the other. A third plug is the ant. which needs an adapter too....but the root question is...... The bigger of the two is the harness that adapts to plug into the new unit, what is the second OEM smaller plug for that has no spot to plug into the alpine unit? does it just sit there not plugged in now?
Is the second smaller plug for the steering wheel controls? is this where I connect the SWI-JACK adapter that allows the steering wheel controls from the truck to go to the radio? if so, where do i find a harness adapter to plug into this second OEM harness?
I see these 2 terms almost interchanged. I understand they have different functions. Clockspring is power to airbag and control module connects to, in my case, the CAN-BUS that actually sends the signals. Am I correct in my thinking here? I have just about put all the pieces together for my MK6 MFSW retrofit and still wondering if I'll need a new clockspring or not.

View 2 RepliesOn the way to lunch today, I stopped at a store and ran in for about 10 minutes. When I get back in my 'egg, I notice that the steering wheel airbag module has "popped" or "sprung" out of place. Instead of being flush, it is now sticking out and creating quite the safety hazard, I'm sure.

View 3 RepliesI have a problem with the Bold-Sport camera, but am not sure if it is the radio, the camera, or even possibly a fuse. I get a fault code with vcds that says the rvc control module intermittent/no signal. Once I clear the code, and put my car in reverse with the headlights on, the camera does not work, or works for a second, and shuts off. If i turn the exterior lights off, the camera seems to function normally. As soon as I turn exterior lights back on, camera no longer displays again. I have been having some problems with the rns-510, so am assuming it could be the radio, but am not too sure. The problem I have with the radio is that sometimes not all the interior light hard buttons light up. I will post up a pic as soon as I can.

So my wife's '08 Passat (2.0T Sedan) started making this weird clunking type of sound when you move the steering wheel. It can be parked or moving and it sounds. It is not speed related it sounds like the steering is crapping out. I'm dropping the car at the dealer on saturday ....

Light continues to flash. New diagnostics from dealer says error code 1885 - the control restraint module needs replacing in P&L. Does the code match the fix? Can a novice mechanic replace the module?
