View 3 RepliesI did it about two years ago following steps on here but i forgot where to hold the engine cover to take it off, it can be broken if done incorrectly so where to grab that cover to pull it off?
View 2 RepliesIt appears that after you unsnap the three clips you have to loosen the clamp between the air cleaner box and the intake manifold and separate the air box top from the rubber tube before you can access the air filter. However there appears to be hinges on the back of the air filter box that gave the impression that after you unsnap the three clips you can open the lid.
I have not found any step by step instructions to tell me the correct steps to perform to access the air filter
I managed to scratch the air bag while making a turn somehow . Must be a curse of some sort as I was wearing a newly acquired Submariner that day, Father's Day I might add. The scratch is right on top of the air bag cover and is about an inch long.
Is it possible to change the cover alone? Or is it the whole air bag ? Anything I can do to smoothie the scratch out so it's less visible? I can try to forget it , but is hard when it's right there in front of you.
I've never done it, not even sure where it is located.
View 11 RepliesIs there a DIY for changing the two engine air filters on the V8? I have done searches and looked in the DIY area. Seems simple but can't get the housing cover in a position that allows the element to be removed.
View 4 RepliesChanging tranny fluid/filter today, all has been going great until I went to take the filter o-ring out that didn't come with the filter. It will not come out! made a hook tool out of an old tooth brush like someone on here did, o-ring wont budge. Tried a hook pick, it wont dudge (actually bent the tip on the pick and started to tear the o-ring). Everything is ready to go back together and get filled, but this stupid o-ring will not come out!
View 3 RepliesI'm at 101k miles, and haven't changed the exterior air intake filter on my 07' B6. I'm experiencing a slight loss of power, and the engine is relatively loud/"gruffy". Had coil packs and spark plugs replaced, oil is changed, as well as PCV work performed. So I'm thinking that the filter could be the problem. Maybe carbon build up too?
View 4 RepliesI had my fuel filters changed at the dealership today on my '15, and then I bought fuel and headed home (70 miles). About half way home I got a "Low Fuel Pressure" message and a little while after that "Reduced Engine Power" along with the check engine light.
I pulled over to see if they did something like leave the drain open, thinking it might be sucking air. Of course it was dark and I could not see anything. However I did hear a buzzing sound and could feel a vibration when I touched the fuel line going into the top of engine filter.
While it is possible I got bad fuel, I suspect they did something wrong installing the filters. Even after cycling the fuel pump multiple times they had a hard time getting it started afterwards; I think they finally disconnected the top fuel line to bleed the air out.
I continued home and made it, but not sure what to do now; its 70 miles back to the dealer.
What is the most likely problem? Improper fuel filter installation or bad fuel?
Should I pull the filters in the morning see if there is something obvious like an out-of-place gasket? If so, top or bottom filter?
Is this a tow truck affair or should I drive 70 miles back to the dealer?
What the heck is the buzzing sound?
I have a 2007 Camry XLE V6 that needs new spark plugs and the first thing to remove is the plastic engine cover. I do not see any screws or bolts attaching it down and I would like to know the proper way to remove it without damaging it or the plugs holding it down. How to do this?

View 4 RepliesI changed my air filter this morning, and it's a really difficult. Looking for any tips on how to get the two clips back on that are obviously harder to get back on? In the back and front under the heat shield... I just left them hanging there after cutting up my hands trying to reach in there and push each one back in...
View 6 RepliesAs far as I can tell, the rectangular breather is full of some type of stainless mesh. I cannot separate the halves. I may have pulled a bonehead move and left it tin the solvent tank and didn't realize it was still on....ofcourse it was full of solvent. Just cleaned it real well. I drained it and am going to let it dry out before install next week.

View 2 RepliesThe fan inside my air filter box, or turbo charger intercooler (not sure of correct technical term) is running on and off for several hours after engine has been shut off. I believe this is running my battery down. Is this intercooler/fan suppose to run after the engine is shut off?
View 4 RepliesI was driving my 2003 Passat 1.8T normally when all of a sudden I see "STOP" on my dash and my coolant light turned on. I pull over and see a bunch of white crap all over the engine cover. The temp gauge didn't go up however, so I drove it home. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. I am guessing it could be the water pump? Also there was white crap on the bottom of the hood which showed where it might have came from. I circled that area in the pic.
View 3 RepliesToday I did a oil change (70k). While under the car I notice a small leak from the back side of the engine. When I got home, I had the chance to remove the engine cover to investigate and clean the engine up a bit.
I found that the bolts in the rear of the valve cover had a little puddle of oil around them. I took a T-30 torque bit and was able to get a least a full turn on the rear bolts and about half turn on the middle ones. Fronts were about a quarter turn. Check your valve cover bolts.
