I have an 07 and in S mode the car does a pretty hard when down shifting around 3rd/2nd gear. if there is a fix for it? I'm going to talk to the dealer about to see what they say.

View 1 RepliesMy 2009 downshifts hard between 2nd and 1rst gear. Real distinct when stopping at a stop sign. I have 81,000 on it. I looked at older forum's and they said flashing the computer would assist. Just curious if it works for a vehicle with that many miles on it, or if it may be a more serious problem.
View 5 RepliesI have a 90 Cutlass Cruiser SL and it is shifting real hard going down to first. Other gears are fine. Checked motor mounts, ok. Also stutters at higher speeds in OD but when I kick it down to drive it quits. She has a lot of miles but I can't afford a new car.
View 15 RepliesI've just had my 2006 B6 fixed last monday....something with throttle body , fuel pressure sensor and transmission "flashed" since it was downshifting rough from 5th to 4th. Today while cruising on the highway at first "open gas cap" showed up so i pulled over turned engine off then back on, light was gone, then on may way from work engine light came ON out of nowhere so i have another appointment to have them look at it this coming sat.
View 4 RepliesMy wife's 07 Chevy Aveo was towed home Tuesday. She tried downshifting on the freeway and suddenly she couldn't get it in or out of gear. I was able to get it in all gears but the clutch engagement was all wrong. there didn't seem to be any slip zone, it just jumped at 1/2 pedal. I found the clutch master cylinder leaking slightly under the boot so I changed it and bled the system, no change. I had backed the car out of the garage onto the upward sloped driveway which required a lot of RPM's. Later I couldn't get it out of gear and cannot disengage the clutch, even to allow it to roll. I also changed the slave cylinder, still no luck. I changed the clutch, throw out bearing, and had the flywheel resurfaced last April.

When I first was driving my newer v6 I noticed that when im downshifting from 3rd to second especially it has shaking feeling in the front end. Wasn't sure if this was a transmission problem or an axle problem.
View 14 RepliesJust bought a 2004 3.5 v6 Santa Fe 140k miles. It's my first 21st century vehicle, the first time I've had one so computerized and all that. I'm really unfamiliar with many of the sounds it makes and what not. This runs nothing like my old Camaro or Dodge, what's normal or not.
She really seems to rev pretty hard in idle, especially when braked at a light while still in drive. Is this normal for a Santa Fe?
My 2012 ISF has this weird hesitation going on. On manual mode with Sport, I would try to accelerate pretty hard and around 5k RPM, it would bog down and hesitate. Almost feeling like it's choking.
View 14 RepliesSo my 01 has been parked in the garage for about 2 months. Normally on battery tender but it accidentally got unplugged and I didn't realize til yesterday when I went to start it. So I got the battery charged up and put air in my rear drivers tire since every time it sits it goes flat. Well I did all this I so I could take it to get tires today.
Driving to work and its shaking pretty bad at highway speed. Don't recall it doing this yesterday. Never really did this before either. The truck also pulls hard to the right. Its done this for a while so I'm not sure if it's just the tires or needs alignment or something else. Or all of the above.
I'm mainly concerned with why it was shaking. The front tires don't look low however I will check the pressure on my lunch hour today.
My new 2014.5 Camry SE is awesome. I miss some things from my 2009 Altima Hybrid, but overall I'm happy I replaced it.
One thing I've found kind of odd is that I have a bit of a hard time closing the trunk. In most other cars I've had just pressing the trunk down gently will latch it (even if not fully closed) and it doesn't take much force at all to fully close. On my Camry, though, I feel like I have to slam it down pretty hard to get it to latch.
My trusty 1994 Ford F150 is starting to show her age, I think. I'm noticing a few issues:
1 - most concerning to me is she jerks pretty hard when shifting through the first few gears during relatively warm weather. The cold snap has abated the issue for now. Had the transmission fluid checked - mechanic said it's fine.
2 - This is a fun electrical issue. I'm driving down the highway when suddenly the cruise control shuts off, as does the speedometer and the digital odometer. The Tach still works, as do the rest of the gauges. Maybe 10 - 15 minutes later, they all come back on. It's done this a couple times.
3# - Really annoying but very minor; when I push down on the foot feed, there's a bit of a squeak in the engine. I'm guessing it's a tensioner pulley on the serpentine belt, but why it would only happen when I give it some gas?
Well as the title states, I am having a harder time getting into first with the A/C on. The car shakes like crazy as I let out the clutch and give it gas, but once I am in gear it is fine. I searched and found nothing, so am a loss to even know where to look or what part of the A/C system could be the problem.
View 17 RepliesI got a new clutch & shift cables & fluid professionally done one year ago. I have only put 5k miles on it since. In the last two months the... gate/slot for 1st & 2nd have been getting worse n worse. All gears show sporadic rough shifting (read rough as a clunk or one tooth grind), but 1st/2nd are consistently rough & the gate seems to be getting narrower...
Environmental & operating temp, do not noticeably affect these symptoms.
Bought this car this winter after my wife's car got totalled. So far we've been really happy with it, rides great, lots of room, decent power and the 4motion for the winter is awesome.
Couple of things we've noticed though. In first gear, it seems like it takes forever to shift into 2nd. It pulls nice from the light, but seems to lag hard getting into second. The other is were not getting close to the sticker gas mileage. Were getting a combined city/hwy of 23mpg. New to VW's, but not cars.
2005 Passat Wagon 1.8T 4motion....
Just bought a 2015 golf TSI 4-door. First time VW buyer so Im not sure if these are normal or I should bring the car in to get checked.... At a dead stop when I accelerate the car seems to shake a little (until 2nd gear kicks in) then it stops shaking, Also, When Im in traffic and I go from dead stop to accelerate to slow down again, it feels like it is down shifting very hard.
View 6 RepliesI picked up an '08 R32 about two months ago and was having issues with the DSG and the dealership determined it was an issue with the mechatronic unit so they swapped it. That made a huge difference, but the downshifting is still very hard when coming to a slow stop (to the point where the car jumps), especially from 2nd to 1st gear. About half the time when I back out of a parking spot, then put the car in drive and start to give it gas, the car doesn't move for a few seconds as the RPM's build, then it slams into gear.
This all happens in drive (D). I haven't even used the other modes to know if it's happening there too. The dealership says they don't see any issues with it and there are no error codes and that there is nothing wrong with the car, but this is by far the worst transmission I've ever had in any car I've ever owned. I find it hard to believe that VW and Audi would put this in their higher end cars, so I can only assume there is something wrong with mine.
I'm not impressed with our 2007 Toyota Avalon XL with 65K miles that we bought from my parents 2 years ago with less than 40K miles. It's on it's 3rd set of tires, 3rd set of front brakes, it has a left front clunk that nobody can find, we just replaced the 3 rear coil packs and 6 spark plugs and now the transmission is not shifting properly. It is most noticeable when you come to a stop after driving at a moderate RPM.
The transmission clunks hard into low gear. Other times it will not downshift if you are coming down a long hill. I've checked the fluid level and it is good.
Got in to go to work this am, and the gear shifter was difficult to move. What to check?
I drove 70 miles to work and didn't seem like any issues with the transmission shifting.

Shifting back and forth in the selector seems to loosen things up a little.
A friend move the selector while I looked at the linkage and the bracket that support the cable is flexing while shifting between gears....More likely a transmission issue or something with the linkage?
I purchased a 2012 Elantra Limited w/Tech last Wednesday and it has about 250 miles on it now. Downshifting is kind of hard. I've been driving with Eco mode on but have noticed the same thing w/o it on.
I'll get up to 45 mph and then let the car coast, every time the car downshifts a gear I feel it in the car. It causes me to jolt forward a little bit and is not very smooth. It shifts the same way while accelerating but then I don't really notice it b/c I'm speeding up.
It is annoying while just coasting b/c it feels like the car is braking a little every time it drops down a gear. Also, if it pushes me forward a little bit then the car probably is braking a little which seems kind of against the point of coasting...
I tow a car hauler that is about 8000 lbs. On my last trip occasionally when the truck would downshift into 5th under a load, it would bang in there pretty hard. Not a smooth transition, not every time just some times. Just wondering it that was normal or the start of a potential issue.
