Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Oil Level Always Low

Jan 25, 2009

I have an 06 2.0t m/t which I purchased cpo w/44,500 miles on it. I love the car. It runs great. However, shortly after purchase I noticed oil level was always low. I did see here on vortex that it was a common problem w/ 2.0's so I was not overly concerned. I took my car in for service at 48,954miles. Car received scheduled maintenance and I expressed my concern about burning oil. They checked for leaks and not finding any also told me that this was a fairly common problem and that it may burn a quart every 1000-2000 miles. I drove the car for about 1800 miles and checked the oil. The dipstick showed that the car was almost dry. This seemed excessive to me so I took car back to dealer. They stated that this was extreme but they didn't know where tech had filled oil to and said different techs fill to different points(doesn't give you a warm feeling inside to know each tech does what they want).

They once again checked car for leaks and once again found none. I know the car is not leaking because it sits in my garage or driveway and there are no oil marks at all. They filled oil level to just under max and documented this on service history sheet by drawing the dipstick w/ max and min markers and then noting where they filled to. They then told me to drive the car for 1,000 miles and check oil and if it lost a considerable amount to bring it back and they would perform further diagnostics. The car is now at 51,700miles and I have driven about 900 miles since they did last check and refill. I checked oil this morning and car is at top of the min. marker so it has dropped the whole space in between max and min in only 900 miles of driving. Car just switched from original factory warranty into cpo warranty. I'm calling dealer tomorrow for appointment because I want this figured out and documented properly before cpo runs out although that's about 22months/22,000 miles away. I wonder what "further diagnostics" they can perform?

Passat (B6) :: Low Oil Level After 2000 Miles?

I purchased an 06 cpo 2.0t m/t in March and I checked oil level at end of June and stick was almost dry. Immediately poured in some oil to make it to dealership. They performed oil change and said they didn't find any leak. Today when cleaning under hood, I thought about checking dip stick but figured it would be fine. My oil was changed about 3 months ago and I've driven just under 2,000 miles since the change. The oil level is at the min marker. Someone told me that the turbo's burn a quart of oil about every 1,000 miles but this seems a little ridiculous.

Passat (B5) :: 2003 - Low Oil Level - Won't Start

I picked up a 2003 1.8t Tip for the wife. I got the car with the belief that I would have to put an engine in it. I tried to crank the car a couple times and it turned over fine, but never started. The t-belt is moving fine and the crank and cam spin no problem, but it won't start.

I pulled the dipstick to notice that there was no oil on it. I immediately put oil in it and pulled the dipstick to check the level. That is when I noticed all the oil I put in is now on the ground.

After further discovery, I found a quarter size hole in the oil pan!

I know that this model has a oil level sender in the pan, but would this prevent it from starting? I am looking at replacing the oil pan, pump and pickup. I know it is a gamble, but it would be well worth it if it solved the problem, especially concidering the car was basically free.

Again will the lack of oil in the car prevent it from starting because of the oil lever sender in the pan?

Passat (B7) :: Check Oil Level Warning Just Came On

I have added a quart of recommended oil per the manual (the dipstick is now reading optimal oil). The warning is still on. What actions can be taken and what was the outcome? I am assuming that if the warning is not gone in the morning the sensor is bad.

Lexus RX 2010-15 :: A/C Blows Cold Air At Bi-level Only At Chest Level

I noticed yesterday while driving the RX (not my daily driver) that when I turned on the A/C to bi-level (chest & feet) it only blew cold air at the chest level while at the feet level it was warm air. If I remember correctly from the past that the feet got cold too so I tried it with the vents only at the feet, still warm air. I even checked to make sure that I didn't have it on bi-level with defroster in use.

Passat (B6) :: Oil Level Low / Barely Get Reading On Dipstick

Car is burning through a higher than usual amount of oil? I just went to the dealer to do an oil change because the oil was so low I could barely get a reading on the dipstick, no leaks were found, and the car does not smoke.

Passat (B5) :: Coolant Level Low Warning Flashing

At the end of last winter, I got the warning flash that my coolant level was low. So I topped up (about a pint or more)About 3 weeks later I had to go through the same scenario !! but then it started to get hot outside and my air conditioner mode took over and lo and behold - no more coolant loss.!!?? Now that winter and cold weather is back - so is my leak!!

So I run off to the local dealer and they get the car up. And drop the belly pan with the engine running and the heat cranked up. the mechanic said he found a dripping hose coming from UNDER the intake manifold.

The engine is a 2002 2.8 v6....

Passat (B5) :: 2001 VR6 - Low Oil Level Now High Idle

My buddy just bought a vr6 2001 and it has a problem! the previous owner said it had an oil leak and didn't notice it until it started ticking! ok not a big deal! we changed what was left of the oil with semi synthetic 5w20, and put a new filter on it! figured out that the oil was leaking out of the filter gasket , how he didn't notice is beyond me! now the ticking has gotten quiet BUT now it idles high! there is now CEL and the previous owner said it did not do it before the ticking! so my question is how did running low on oil, and POSSIBLY messing up a lifter or two cause it to be idling high? It only idles high in park between 1 and 2000 rpm!

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Damage From Low Transmission Fluid Level

I recently discovered that during our last flush-fill of the tranny, the shop underfilled by about a quart. (or so they claim the quantity to be) I brought it back when noticing the transmission was hesitating to shift gears, especially when cold. Unfortunately, the car was driven for about 5 months at this level before the problem was discovered. Any long term damage?

Passat (B5) :: Check Coolant Level Warning Will Come On Occasionally

When I start up the car in the morning, the infamous "STOP!! CHECK COOLANT LEVEL" warning will come on, and then shortly thereafter it will go away. I topped off the coolant level (with the pink stuff of course) and yet this light will come on occasionally. It mostly comes on first thing in the morning when the car is started up and cold, and *sometimes* come on when the car is warm. Fluid level is all topped off. What gives?

I was reading that there is a fluid level sensor that sometimes goes bad? could this be it? I changed the coolant temp sensor back in the summer of this year. (not sure if that has anything to do with it?) Not sure if I have a leak, cause I look under the car in the morning and I have no spots of coolant anywhere.

Lexus GS 2006-11 :: Low Oil Level Warning Came On While Driving 2007 GS350 AWD

Last year I was driving and my low oil level warning came on for some odd reason. I say odd because I had just done an oil change a couple months prior. I filled it up to the correct level and everything was fine. A couple months later after doing my oil change the same thing happened again. I get the same warning and now feel there is an issue with my car. I called the dealership and they said they can do an oil consumption test. My car is a 07 GS350 AWD.

Lexus GS 2006-11 :: Pressure Sensor Won't Warn Unless It Drops Below Low Level

I have aftermarket wheels and the tire pressure sensors have been transferred over. Since I went from the stock 17" wheels to 20" wheels, I had to increase the tire pressure from 32 to about 38.

1) I'm assuming that since the pressure is now higher with the 20" wheels, the tire pressure sensor won't warn me unless it drops below a really low level (maybe somewhere around 28 psi). Is there any way I can set a higher threshold so that they come on at around 36 psi?

2) The tire shop that installed the wheels transferred over the sensor, but I'm not sure if they actually work since the warning light has ever came on. Do I need to take the car to the dealership for them to start working again?

Based on the my research, some people are saying that only the dealer can reset the TPS so they can start working again. Others are saying that I can reset it myself, but does this reset actually raise the threshold?

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Brake Pedal Getting Softer And Fluid Level A Bit Low

80km on my accent, the brake pedal was getting softer and brake fluid was a bit low as normal due to brake pads were worn up over time. Brake pads were never changed. I thought changing the pads would change the softness of the brake pedal. I changed the brake pads, left and right, the brake fluid in the reservoir went up as normal but I drove around but the softness of the brake pedal did not change. I still had a little less than half size on the old pads. I need to press the pedal a bit much to feel the brakes. I am wondering maybe the brake pedal was always like that when I bought the car.

So a couple weeks ago I refilled the reservoir for coolant because it was low. But the radiator level was fine. Then today I checked the reservoir and it was below the L and the radiator level was a little under as well. What could be causing this? Possibly a hose? I don't think it would be a bad radiator?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Red Parking Brake Light Come On - Master Cylinder Level Was Low

So my May 2007 V6 Sonata with 143,000 km (89k miles) had the red parking brake light come on. Master cylinder level was low and there was evidence of something leaking on the driveway. Below the very back of the driver seat.

At the dealership they say I've got a leak in my brake lines. Say that the fuel lines should be replaced too since they are in the same compartment. So if one goes the other may not be far behind.

I was out of town and the car couldn't be driven safely so I was pretty much stuck there.When the dealership did the work a rusted bolt snapped near the fuel tank and they said that added an additional hour of labour to the work. In the end I wasn't charged for it. Tech said he had never seen a Sonata have the brake lines rust out like that. I got the brake and fuel lines done cause I plan on owning it for 6+ years.

Lexus RX 2004-09 :: Power Steering Hose Leak - Oil Level Low On 2006 RX330

I have a 2006 RX 330 with 116,000 miles. I noticed that i had a leak and the power steering oil level was low. I went under the car and looks like the power steering hose is leaking. The dealer wants $352 for hose and $325 for labor. I called auto parts stores and they say its a dealer item only. Someone told me I could have a hose company rebuild it for a lot less.
