Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Code P2101 / EPC And TRAC Lights On
Aug 1, 2010
At any rate, Scan at the store brought up P2101 throttle actuator control motor circuit range/performance. Car has been stalling occasionally while idling. EPC and trac control lights will come one. Including an exclamation point in the cruise control area. Restart and drive and the lights will go off and it will act normal. It is, however, starting to becoming a regular thing.
I have had the TB calibrated several times when the coil recall was done because it was giving a similar code. Apparently, they didn't set them when the car was warm and they would "pop up" when I got to temp. Haven't had this problem for several months and it never stalled before.
I'm hoping this isn't as bad as I have read about the TB, but I'm guessing it needs replaced.

SO all three lights came on and wouldn't go away.
Ran a scanner for code and got p0430.
Took it dealership for estimate or fix.
Go figure : code summary: Causes.
Reported fixes or Causes: for code p0430
- catalytic converter has failed.
- Air fuel ratio sensor
- Bank 2 cat converter
- Bank 2 (A/F) ratio sensor
- Oxygen 02 sensor
- downstream Oxygen 02 sensor
- Exhaust pipe
- Mass Air flow sensor
So I am waiting thinking ok let be one of the above causes or fixes that is cheap.

Tonight, during a short ride, all the sudden the VSC TRAC, VSC OFF and Check Engine came on. Atfter home, I got the P0057 code from a OBDII scanner. The P0057 code indicates O2 sensor on bank 2 lower sensor. However, the interesting thing is I also lost the power seat adjustment on the seat memory. When I switched between L1 and L2 , the mirrors and the steering position changes and the seat did not. However, the adjustment buttons on the seat itself work correctly. I wonder if this problem associates with P0057?

I have recently purchased a low mileage 2006 Scion XB and have had to have a faulty front ABS senor replaced at a local repair shop. The mechanic used a "genuine Toyota" replacement sensor. After a couple of miles my ABS light along with the TRAC and VSC lights came on. He reset the computer and they came on almost immediately. His computer read faulty ABS sensor, he said that he checked the new sensor and it worked. He sent me to Toyota, who also diagnosed it as faulty sensor and when they checked the sensor it was fine.
They said the problem was rust, cleaned the sensor and hub and everything was fine for about 50 miles, then the lights came on again. The service manager said that if the problem came back that they would have to replace the front hub. Can I again clean the sensor and hub myself? I have a bead blaster would that likely clean it enough? Would coating the cleaned metal with something like a really light oil (like WD 40) to stop the rusting? And lastly, if I am successful in cleaning it all does the computer need to be reset or will it reset itself? I have some skills, have done brakes, replaced engines and stuff like that.

I recently had a CEL code for bank 2 cat converter.. I drove the car with the CEL for 8 months and one day the VSC and TRAC OFF light popped on and wouldn't go away. I took it to toyota and they told me that it is because the check engine light is on and once the CEL goes off the others should as well. Well i recently replaced the bank 2 cat and cleared the CEL and iv driven over 300 miles already the CEL has not come back on but the VSC and TRAC OFF light remain ON....

I've had this 2003 XLE v6 for several days. Just got new rear tires, to match the almost new fronts.
Drove fine for about 100 miles. Then my conscience told me to get an alignment. I got in the car after the alignment and the VSC and TRAC OFF lights were on. I went back in and got the "they were on when we drove it in" song.
After pressing the trac button several times, the VSC went off, then the TRAC OFF when out. "Oh well" maybe he was not BSing me, so I drive off. Came back on within a couple hundred feet.
Now, it seems they go off right after starting the engine, with all the others, but will come on almost as soon as I drive off. If I just sit there idling, does not seem to come back on.
I should add they also told me the cabin air filter was filthy and had to wait while the put it back in when I declined. After all, I can get it way cheaper, etc. I mention because I have seen some comments about this happening in some models after changing that filter.
So, what did the do? Or what can I do?

03 xle 3.0. Recent motor mounts, front lower control arms, LR bearing. All good. Raining. Driving around all good. Stopped for several hours, started up, immediately brake vsc, trac, abs came on. Stopped to get a sandwich, started up again, all are out. Car seems fine otherwise.

2003 Camry XLE V6.. As soon as I drive the VSC an TRAC OFF lights go on.
This happened recently: Had low air pressure on rear driver's side tire. Gave it air and it's good now.
The lights still won't turn off. I took it to a mechanic, he checked on the computer, but found no codes. I told him about the deal with the tire and he said that the system might need to be reset or re-calibrated because the stability control probably detected one of the tires had some abnormal movement by hitting a bump or maybe because of the low tire pressure, etc.
How do I reset/re-calibrate or do whatever to turn these lights off?

2003 Camry xle 3.0 auto. VSC and trac off lights came on after I plugged in an obdc II checker. A 30 dollar red one.
This happened once before when I had a wheel alignment done but kept pestering the shop till they fixed it.
This time, I had the rr jacked up to look for source of noise and plugged this in, just for chuckles. No chuckles now.
I did find a write up on how to turn it off with some paper clips and fancy finger work and will give it a go.
But, is this going to happen every time I plug in a tester?

Why are my ABS and Trac lights going on and off periodically?

All of these lights came on for no apparent reason. I check with computer based OBD reader, and I'm getting code P0049 (Turbo/Super Charger Turbine Overspeed). Weird code considering the lack of turbo or super charger on the GX. I cleared the codes, but all came back after a few miles of driving. What code P0049 is pointing to? My truck is 04 GX470 with 74,000 miles.

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry LS that says check vsc system. The check engine light, vsc and trac lights are all three are on. That is a concern but another big concern is that is sometimes runs sluggish and acts likes it wants to stall. ?

This is a new phenomenon for me and from what I have read it could be the emissions system, gas cap or Catalytic. Clearing the codes only brings the lights back on when I put the car in drive or reverse. I know I can replace the gas cap (cheap) Replace the catalytic ( more expensive - since the exhaust has a rupture in the braid) and have the emissions sensor replaced (marginal cost)....

2001 Alero ... I've read about the sensors and wiring on the hub causing the ABS and Trac lights. They come on with the Service Vehicle Soon light, sometimes, when I start rolling.
I had a mechanic look at it, and it was not giving any codes. He tried to turn off the lights with the machine, and they would not turn off. He concluded that it was a computer problem. He said that a ground causes the lights to come on, so it could be a wiring problem.
Why would my lights come on intermittently? Do I have to wait until they come on, then immediately pull over and check the sensor or hub? Is there any way to check this on my schedule?

I bought my wife a 2005 Gx470 this past weekend. She has only driving it for the past 2 days. (still had gas in the old car, which is now for sale) She called me and said the VSC light off light came on and the Trac light was on. I did some quick searching and couldn't find anything definitive on what or why the lights came on for. She got gas yesterday, but probably only drove about 40 miles. I asked her if she tightened fuel cap until it clicked, she said she thinks...(crazy pregnant woman).
I'm trying to avoid a trip to a dealer on a car I bought 5 days ago. Also, how to reset the codes without a computer? I know my GMC truck, I just unhook the battery for 30mins or so and clears all codes. Hoping Lexus has a cheat too

I had a check vsc, engine light, and trac light come on... I got the code checked and it returned P0300 only. That was three days ago (5 totals days of the lights being on) and today I start my car up, and all the lights are off.
I've only had my 2007 ES 350 for 5 months. I bought it used with 48k miles on it. I'd been advised it probably need new plugs since none of the coil codes hit... should I still be concerned? should I still replace the plugs although the lights have gone out?

I have a 2005 Century that show ABS and No Trac warning lights. I use an electrical cleaner spray (without lube) on the front passenger side ABS connector spraying male & female ends. The warning lights don't reappear and brakes seem to function normally.
Then a few months later the same warning lights appear, I repeat the spray and everything seems to return to normal again. This process has been going on for about a year.

2002 Camry with check engine light steady on and car shutting off when coming to a stop. Diagnostics revealed error codes P0440, P0441, P0446, P0442 indicating evaporation problem. Found broken closed canister valve. Had valve replaced and check engine light went off. Technician says VSC/TRAC lights were on also when he pulled the car in.
They had not been on before. Now the VSC/TRAC lights are coming on and staying on when the car starts moving. The code is c1336, something about yaw rate sensor. Is there something that still needs to be reset or does this mean that the sensor is bad and what and where is this yaw rate sensor?

Engine light, VSC and TRAC off lights come on. Local garage says code P1201, go to transmission shop. My code book says Injector circuit open/shorted cylinder #1. Is this still a transmission shop issue? I am terrified of dealerships, can I drive it a few more days, short distances whilst I decide who will dupe me over more?

I have a 2016 Elantra GT with less than 1000 miles on it and I just started coming across an issue yesterday. I have had my ABS and trac light kick off on me and stay lit until I shut the car down, then it will start back up with no issue. I don't have a compatible scanner to pull the codes so I am not sure what in the system is kicking the light.
Its random when happening and I double checked that my wiring was all hooked up properly from the factory on all items included in the circuit. I also checked the wheel bearings just to rule out possibly having a bad one which I would find hard to believe with under 1000 miles on it even if faulty.
Are there any common issues with the ABS, traction, or stability control systems on these cars that people have come across? Obviously I'm under warranty so I'm not worried about getting it fixed.

This is happening intermediately, maybe 1 out of every 5 starts.
Using the override I can shift just fine and the lights go away within 2-3 minutes. However, there's obviously something misaligned here. Search revealed potential brake switch issue (my tails and brake lights are fine so no issues there), lockout issue, or a park neutral switch.
So I took the panel apart and I am trying to isolate these potential issues, image attached, what I need to do next? I am more of a visual person so if someone can circle the part I need to disassemble or replace that would be most useful.
