My passenger side is clunking pretty noticeably and if I kick the tire at the top you can see play in arms and it clunks. Im am a little short on cash to buy control arm kit right now (unemployed) Just wanna know if I can just deal with the clunking or is this gonna snap like a tie-rod (been there) and possibly lead to a disaster?? Fast responses highly urged.

View 19 RepliesI have a low-mid pitched chunky clunking sound/feel in the front end of my jeep. It MAY be there because I drove over a cattle guard (auto gate for some of you) and one of the iron pieces popped up and hit the under of my car. on the right front underbody. Not sure what it hit. No body damage. A few days later I felt/hear clunking. Not so much on highway. Worse at slower speeds and on more irregular surfaces, bumps in streets/gravel roads.
There is a scratch on one of the stabilizer bars where it loops down near the wheel. The one on the right will move slightly when you give it a good shake. The left one is solid.
I have a 2005 accent. For the last couple of days every time I hit a bump in the road I get a not so nice clunking sound from the back passenger side wheel well. And when I make a right hand turn I hear a scraping sound coming from the same area. Is this sounds like a problem with the shock or strut, or could it be something more serious. If the shock was busted why do I hear a scraping sound when I make a right hand turn?
View 1 RepliesMy wife has a 2012 Accent with 23k miles. Within the last few weeks she started having a clunking noise coming from the rear passenger side when going over bumps. I had some time to check the basics (loose lugs, broken exhaust bracket, spare tire, trunk lid, etc..) and have come up with nothing. I'm not very familiar with Hyundai's, but I wouldn't think there are very many components to the rear suspension other than struts that could be making a clunk like that. But with 23k miles, the struts shouldn't be bad.
View 6 Replies95 Buick Lesabre 3.8L. After replacing a broken 6" swaybar strut on the driver's side I noticed a clunking when hitting bumps on the passenger's side. (These sizes are approximate). There is a large thick 2ft long by 4"wide bar behind the front passenger wheel. The bar has 2 large bushings on both ends. The bushings are about 2 1/2" wide. The rubber bushings and support screws or rods are loose. I suspect that this is a piece of subframe. Autozone said that they cannot get the replacement bushings. Where do I get these bushings and should I look for anything else that may be damaged or worn out?
View 1 RepliesI drive a 2013 4 door gti. Car has 4k miles. Just last weekend myself and my buddies threw my coils in. FK Silverline X plus'. I am not sure on the measurement from fender to ground but I am a finger gap in the front, and fingertips in the rear. After throwing my coils in on saturday, I had an alignment and the rear camber adjusted. Just today, sunday, while driving home I heard a weird clunking/knocking noise. Previously I drove a mk4 and I know the sound of sway bar on axle and this is not the sound. Its coming from the passenger side front.. and I can sort of feel it through my clutch and brake. After pulling the car over I checked everything I could. wheels are all tight, struts seem fine. The noise occurs continuously even on smooth roads. The knocking/popping is pretty loud and can be heard in cabin. My buddy had mentioned the guys the aligned my car might have forgot to tighten something so I am heading back to the shop first thing in the morning.
View 3 RepliesI had the struts replaced a few months ago along with the strut mounts and bearings. Since then I've developed a popping and clunking noise from the passenger side spring/mount area. I've greased it and it has quieted it down but I noticed that when the car is not moving and I turn the wheel from lock to lock that very top piece of the strut pretty sure it's called the hat moves along with the wheels while the drivers side does not. What's wrong? Is it something as simple as the nut being to lose or to tight?
View 3 RepliesMy 2009 Accent (hatch) has for some time now made a very noticeable clunking sound from the rear passenger side when going over rough roads (minor bumps). I sat in the back at one point and it is definitely coming from the area of the shock and not from the trunk. It has persisted through all temperatures and seems worse now (February in New England). I found a lot of conversation of this issue related to Elantras, but not so much for Accents. My spouse thinks it is the shock dust cover rattling, and in fact you can make it rattle, but I'm not convinced that it could make that much of a clunk - it's just what looks like a thin plastic.
View 9 RepliesI have the most terrible clunking/rubbing sound on my right passenger side, especially when I'm turning left. When I drive straight it sounds like the wheel is hopping even when going over minuscule imperfections in the road. I also get a terrible rub when going over speed bumps or into grooves and dips in the road.
I've searched and searched but cannot come up with a answer towards rectifying the issue. My car hasn't been lowered; I'm running the stop 337 suspension. I've replaced the following within the past two years:
-control arm bushings
-ball joints
-tie rod ends
-upper strut bushings and bearings
-passenger side axle
-dog bone mount
-engine mount
-tranny mount
Most recently:
-front struts
-sway bar end-links
-driver's side axle
It seems to like everything should be solid considering I've done all of this crap. I don't understand why I'm having this issue and why it sounds like it is getting worse and worse.
I just purchased my first VW, a 2012 Tiguan SE in Night Blue Metallic. The level of fit and finish, handling, and general feel are miles ahead of my old '04 Jeep Liberty.
Anyway, I've had the car for about 250 miles and have noticed a clunking/rattling noise coming from what sounds like the front passenger side suspension arm. The noise is fairly quiet but seems to consistently happen when turning left over uneven pavement.
I plan on taking it to the dealer this weekend and it is only a minor annoyance, but a shame since the rest of the vehicle is so quiet and refined.
My girlfriend's 2002 Honda Civic. Whenever she and I make a turn in it, a clunking sound is heard and felt on the front passenger side in the area of the floorboard, and it seems to come from an area between the seat and the wheel well and seems to be getting slowly but surely/progressively worse/more noticeable as time passes. I checked underneath the car earlier today, and there aren't any observable leaks to report anywhere.

For some reason it does not make the noise when it has recently rained or the car is wet, the noise is coming from the front drivers side. I had a mechanic check out my suspension, and he said everything was fine. I am thinking it could be a bushing, but am not sure.
View 10 RepliesNoisy Fuel Pump ??? At least that's what I think it is. Pretty prominent whirring going on, sounds like it's coming from the rear passenger area. Dealer listened to it, agreed something was up. No immediate answer, will have to schedule service.
View 4 RepliesWe have a 1999 Passat GLX 2.8 auto. I recently put on a new inner and outer tie rod as well as a lower forward control arm. The issue that we are experiencing is that when accelerating or braking hard there is a popping/clunking noise coming from the driver front area. When accelerating or braking normally/ smoothly it is fine. But, as I said accelerate or brake hard it will make a single pop or clunk and that is it, just once when braking hard or accelerating quickly.

View 12 RepliesTwo months ago I walked out to my car as it was remote started and realized the driver side headlight was out. With a quick tap to the lens it was fixed with no further problems to date. As of yesterday my passenger side headlight and side marker went out. The first thing I tried was the tap method which only brought the sidemarker back to life. Could it be the bulb or a worse problem. I am not sure if its just the bulb seeing that the side marker is going off and on.
View 2 RepliesI dropped off my 2012 Passat to the dealer this morning because the driver's DRL was out and the passenger headlight was out. Normally I'd change bulbs myself and be on my way but since this is new and under warranty, I let them do the work.
Anyway, fixed the DRL (bad bulb). But the passenger headlight assembly needs replacing. Seems I have fallen victim to a melted housing causing a failure. I've read about the situation somewhere here on the forums and suspected it might be the case. So VW is 2-3 days out on getting a new part and I'm in a loaner for the time being.
I'm guessing this happens a lot with this part. I wonder if VW will issue a recall in the future.
I have a 2000 cavelier that is humming pretty bad from the left side. When I turn right it goes away. I have changed the front hubs before and it had fixed the problem. This time I changed them both and the shoes I got about thirty miles without any humming issues and then it came back but worse. I assumed that I had received a bad hub from the parts store so I bought another one and replaced it again but this time the humming didn't go away at all. Could it be something in the axle?
View 1 RepliesI just replaced my drivers side wheel bearing that was squealing pretty bad. After replacing it I now have the same noise only consistent where before it was only when I turned the wheel to the right. I noticed the teeth in the cv shaft where a little warn down when I changed the hub. Now also along with that noise I'm getting a clunking sound. Should I just change the cv shaft or is there something else I need to be looking at?
