View 16 RepliesWhile on a road trip this weekend, I noticed our "MPG History Records" was off by a month. While fueling up, I told her to go ahead and set the correct date. When she used the steering wheel to make the adjustments, we found out it was 2 years and 1 month off. We bought the vehicle used, and apparently it was never set. The only way we found the change the date was by advancing the days; which means we would have to click through 2 years worth. We currently have it set to the right day and month, but its still under 2014.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2000 Passat 1.8T with the 5 speed automatic. Bought it four months ago; it now has 188,000 miles on it. According to the service records, (The car has full records and was always serviced by one dealer) the transmission fluid has never been changed. This makes me a little crazy, as the manual recommends a 60k interval.
BUT, the dealer says this is no longer recommended, the transmission shouldn't be touched except to check the level. Two other dealers agree. I've also asked a few independent shops, and everyone says if it's gone this long, changing it would probably cause the transmission to malfunction. They say leave it alone as long as it lasts.
The transmission seems to work fine, with two possible exceptions: The first couple of shifts when cold are slightly harsher than when warm; and twice (in 6,000 miles) I got a noticeable "clunk" when going into reverse.
I've tried to lock the car as I walk out while on and it just does a long beep and it doesn't lock.
View 9 RepliesNoticed that the clock speeds up all on its own. I will set it correctly and then within a weeks time it will be minutes faster.
View 14 RepliesIs there to keep the car on an particular mode all the time? I prefer driving on Sport mode but everytime I restart the car; it defaults to normal mode.
View 2 RepliesSo, I noticed after the week long heatwave (using Priidash and the Prius display) that during normal driving (under 65mph and slow accel) that my prius is NOT keeping the battery at 60% SOC....It is staying in the low 50's or as low as 39.5%....If I go above 70mph, I see the battery being drained and not recharged at all....I reset the battery (twice) the first time it made no difference but the second time the car turned on and said I had 60% SOC when in reality before the ECU reset I was at 49.5%. I know my battery is good because I have stress tested it many times. Its in great shape. The only thing I've done differently these past few weeks is I left the car in Park with the AC on 75 auto for about 5hrs on 4 different days....Its a 2004 Prius.
View 7 RepliesThis is a pretty standard feature in any other car (at least Fords and GMs that I know of), but not in the sonata. Is there a mod that can be done so that the radio stays on until the doors are opened after the car is shut off?
View 10 RepliesThis is new to my wife and I and I can't seem to keep the LED's on while driving during the day? I have the stalk set to AUTO and during the day time nothing is on and we want the LED's on during the day. They will come on when I manually turn on the headlamps. I'm sure it's some setting.
View 2 RepliesI have seen several posts recommending Costal Tech's mod to keep one of the aux power sockets ("cigarette lighter") live. However, this does not work for the 2010 Prius (works only until 2009). How to make the cigarette lighter live even when the car is turner OFF?
View 19 RepliesDoes the engine turn on and off frequently lead to a lower engine life? I have always heard that the biggest wear on an engine happens when it is turned on. If the oil is draining from the Prius engine each time stops it seems like there would be a lot of engine wear.
Does the Prius (2010) engine have some way of keeping the engine lubricated when it is turned off?
How do you keep the compass/clock from turning off when driving at night? You know the near the sunroof.
View 2 RepliesWhen it is off, the power locks keep locking every 30 seconds!
View 4 RepliesI've been having a few problems with keeping my ipod connected with Entune. I was working fine but lately the ipod screen keeps saying loading. Then when I switch to another source like FM, then back to Ipod, I also get a "Function not available" screen. The only thing that has fixes this is to hard reboot my ipod, and turn off the car and restart.
View 1 RepliesIs there any way to keep the front white LED lights on with the driving lights?
View 4 RepliesCurrently doing a road trip in my R and I've noticed after a considerable amount of time on the road, there's a howl noise emanating from the rear when keeping speed. Goes away under light acceleration. I can even hear it over the radio. After resting the car and me (12 hrs) I get back on the road and after a couple of hours the howl comes back. Is it the rear diff? I don't think it's wheel bearings. Tires have a different noise. 2013 R w/ 4000 miles. Or is it just what happens when you drive for hours on end?
View 15 RepliesI have had to disarm my alarm system in my 2003 Impala (done via the radio) due to what appears to be a flaw in the system. It is telling my car I am trying to steal it and thus it won't start. As soon as I turned the "alarm" system off the car started right up. From my research this seems to be a consistant issue with this car. My question is by switching off the alarm system, am I doing any long term/short term damage to the computer system/car? I have a scheduled appointment for later this week with the dealership, but from what I have read on line (going back to 2007) the car maker is aware of this glitch and has not been responsive in fixing it without being paid. I bought a warranty when I got the car back in Dec of last year, but not sure if something like this would fall under it's coverage. If just keeping the alarm system turned off allows me to start and drive my car without damage, unless they plan on fixing the glitch for free I can't see spending the hundreds of dollars I am reading it will take to fix it.
View 19 RepliesI was t-boned at an intersection, (I had a green light) My car was hit by the rear door and part of my wheel rim was broken off. The tire is keeping the air. We are also going to have a guy from the other driver's insurance coming to check out my car, I want to be sure my car is safe, he might want to get repairs done as cheaply as possible.
It's a Chevy Malibu 2013(I'm not driving it btw)
I have a 200t and was wondering if there was any way that you can turn off the car's engine, but keep the electronics running. Right now when I put it on park and i press the engine on/off button itll turn off all my electronics.
View 1 RepliesThis is a carburetor model of the 1988 Honda accord I fixed the vacuum leak, and it is not gummed up from ethenal I still have Idle issue where the car wants to die unless I keep it revved up and when up put it in drive it wants to stall out but i can keep it going by letting of the gas and them giving it more gas. Does the carbonated model have the Idle air control valve and a fast idle valve or is that just on the fuel injection engines. Because every one on line claims this is the areas to look at but I can not find them on my 88 Honda where they explain to find these valves.
View 5 RepliesI had my navigation system reboot yesterday and since then, when the headlights go on, the navigation screen dims rather than stay in daytime mode (brighter). How to keep the navigation screen on daytime when headlights go on?
