Sep 17, 2011
I was on youtube and saw a video, of a guy running fog lights as DRL's and only the fog lights, how to do this, or how to on the foglights independently?

These replace the fog light assembly totally and they have like 5 leds or something like that..
The fogs are technically useless too me and I think these look hella unique (at least better than hids in a way).
My buddy Mark and I followed the directions to VAG my moms DRL's so they dont come on anymore, but now the lights illuminating her garage door opener and the lights around her shifter do not light up, did we do something wrong or forget something?
View 2 RepliesI see heaps of cheap LED DRLs (audi style) at car accessory shops that say they wire up the the 12volt parking light switch thing, the problem is where this is or how to do it?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2003 Jetta. I would like to have my parking lights on all the time, controlled with ignition (without any headlights), & have my headlights only cone on when I turn the headlight switch. Is there an easy way to do it?
View 2 RepliesPurchased used: 2001 Passat 1.8T w/ Manual The DRLs are not working. The low beams work fine and my understanding is that the DRLs are reduced wattage low beams. I have checked with the vehicle running , handbrake off, and in gear.
View 2 RepliesI have a 06 passat and I installed a kit, and it keeps flickering, any reason why this would happen... My drls have been disabled, and i thought that should clear the problem.. it hasnt..
View 7 RepliesCan I change the coding to run the High Beams at a lower percentage for DRLs? Is this possible? I have a feeling its not but just wanted to ask around.
View 7 RepliesI'd like to turn off my drl's.....getting new front bulbs and going to install some led's to use as drl's. Up to now, I've only read about using VAG-COM to turn off. I just came across a YouTube demo about turning off drl's by pulling out switch on dash, disconnecting switch from connector and bending down a prong inside the connector. Sounds and looks simple. I haven't seen this method written up on Vortex before....

I recently upgraded to a "Euro" light switch to get more flexibility with my lights. Put tape on the TFL pin to disable DRLs in OFF Mode. Put tape on the 56d pin to disable DRLs in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode. Completely successful -- no DRLs, just as taping the TFL pin on the original light switch accomplished long ago.
BEFORE I did any taping this time, I installed the Euro switch AS IS and tested all of its modes and physical positions:
(1) OFF: No fog light position available (switch knob will not pull out). As expected and okay.
(2) FULL ON Fog lights come on (but who the hell can see them?!?) when switch knob is pulled out one stop into the fog light position -- and the little front fog symbol on the switch lights up. Again, expected and just fine.
(3) CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights): The fog lights position is physically available by pulling the switch knob out one stop... BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON (regardless of ignition switch position, emergency hand brake position, etc., etc.) And the little fog light symbol on the switch does not light up. (Not surprisingly, pulling the knob further out to the REAR fog light position does nothing either.)
THIS IS NOT GOOD - since with a Euroswitch one ought to be able to manually select and de-select the fog lights while in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode!
How to make my FRONT FOG LIGHTS available in Euroswitch CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode...?
Is there a way to run the LED DRL's while headlights are on? Vagcom code? euroswitch? Not really too sure just figured I would throw this out there.. Somewhere in the options on the MFD??
I think if your parking brake is engaged they are on but if its just headlights on they turn off. Also I'll just whore this pic of my R ....
I have a 2011 GTi, and I'm sure this has been gone over many many times, but I need to be honest, with work and trade school and lack of a good smartphone I have no time to search this on vortex. I just want to know how to turn my DRLs off on my GTi, its the sunroof nav package with BI Xenons. I think I heard you need to use VAG COM to load some special code, and that's about all I heard. So where to get it to turn these off.
View 12 RepliesHow do I get my DRLs to turn off during the day? if I wanted my headlights when I was driving around during the day, I would turn them on, but I don't, so is there a simple disconnect that turns them off or does I need to replace something?

View 58 RepliesSo, just recently i had both of my DRLs burn out. They both burnt out at the same time which I thought was weird but I thought that it was because of how cold it was here that it may have happened that way. So, I bought new ones and replaced one side and went to check it, nothing. Took it back out, checked the connections and reinstalled it. Nothing again. I looked at the fuses but didn't notice any blown ones so I am stating to think it is a head light switch.
View 7 RepliesNew to the MK6 world and the halogens they have.. I am used to having Xenons... My question is there a way to run DRL's and fogs together?
I know there's a way to wire the city lights and fogs to run together, but I love the way the halogen DRLs look and i would like to run them together with the fogs. I do have a Euro switch.
I have a 2002 Trailblazer and recently noticed that the DRLs stay on after the car is turned off. The also stay on when the headlight switch is set to "off". I replaced the headlight switch and that fixed the problem for about a day and now the DRLs stay on after the the car is off again. All of the head/tail/stop/bright/turn light functions work properly otherwise -- only the DRLs cannot be shut off. !
View 1 RepliesI don't like how they aren't in the middle of the slots of the front bumper. Where the chrome strips are. I wish they were in the middle of that, instead of towards the outside.
In this video the technician shows that there are holes that you need to drill. This allows you to fasten the DRLs to the bumper.. can I drill the holes in the middle? Would it look stupid up close?

I'd like to run my DRL's and Fogs at the same time in auto mode. Currently if you have the headlights set to auto and turn on fogs it enables the regular headlights as well. Id like only the U shaped DRLs and the fogs.
View 2 RepliesTook the R in the touchless car wash Monday night and immediately drove home and parked in my garage. I went in to eat and came back out into the garage about 2 hrs later and noticed my replica A6 DRLs were on. I noticed that when I shook the wiring they would flicker but stayed on. I took off all the electrical tape and noticed water had somehow made it's way into the relay. I blew air on the relay and the receptacle. I then greased up the relay prongs and plugged it back in and shook the wiring again and the lights still flickered and stayed on. I pulled the relay to keep the DRL off so they wouldn't kill my battery. Hopefully when I plug the relay back in tonight, all the moisture will have dried up and the DRLs will only light up on ignition as their supposed to.
My question is: How do I keep moisture from getting into the relay in the future? I thought it was very well taped up with electrical tape, but water still managed to make it to the relay. I was going to reluctantly wrap the works with Saran Wrap and tape up the ends but that's the kind of ghetto fix that I usually stay away from.
My driver side running lights wont turn on. (fornt bulb, rear bulb) ?
