Passat (B5) :: When Accelerate Hear A Rattle

It doesn't have anything to do with being at low RPM's and I am not sure if I need to be worried...

View 4 RepliesWhen i accelerate, i can hear the turbo, i don't know if its a problem though.
I drive a 18 wheeler for work, and sometimes when i'm goin down a hill and i accelerate, i get no power, just hearing the turbo loud and clear with no power.
But i barely hear it on the passat, i don't know if its good or bad.
Just got my passat not to long ago and its having stupid electrical issues... the window motor is not working, but you can here the motor clicking.. and its having issues with the dome lights.
View 5 RepliesHit the button and you can hear it unlock, pull the handle and nothing. All other doors open fine, just the main I like to use for time to time......you know to get in.
View 6 RepliesI received a free keyless remote for the passat from a friend and would like to program this remote to my car. I tried the method that everyone is talking about online, which is to turn the ignition to the "on" position with one key (w/o starting the car). Then put another key on the driver side door and turn to unlock position and hold until 3 beeps. I've held the key for over a minute and still don't hear any beeps. What am I doing wrong?
View 12 Replies I am new to VW. I just purchased 2 new cars on Monday of this week. A 2012 Jetta SE for my wife and a 2012 Passat SE for me. We are loving both of these cars.
I have a question though. If my car has been locked for a little while, I unlock the car, open the door, I hear a noise inside the car as if an electronic motor is running. It only last for a second or 2 and I can't pinpoint the noise. It almost sounds like the power seat is moving but I don't think that is it. Hears that noise when you are entering your car?
I picked up my 2012 limited Turbo last night but noticed there's a rattle of some sort when I accelerate around 2k rpm, it kind of sounds like a bunch of metals being shaken up. Is this normal? I am also trying to test for the left/right pull, but with all the bad roads here in the city its getting kinda tough.
View 11 RepliesSo I took my R into the dealership to have them look into the rattle/vibration noise that happens when I accelerate. They say that they looked into it and found nothing that was loose and said everything was fine.
When I first got the car I was showing it off to a friend of mine, letting him hear the intoxicating exhaust note, he was impressed, then I rev it and he was like hmmm what was that? Needless to say I was a bit embarrassed.
At this point I don't like getting on the gas in fear that someone will hear this noise and I cringe when I hear it. It's unacceptable for a $30k+ car. The noise does seem to get better once the car is heated up, but that's only after quite a bit of driving and its still there, just not as bad.
I'm taking the car in again tomorrow for something unrelated and I'm going to make sure I give it a few revs so they can hear what I'm hearing.
Prius 2010 UK model, rattle noise coming from the dashboard between the speaker grill and the A shaped trim/glass window driver side (UK model) every time I accelerate, is there constantly all the time, is driving crazy, 9 hours a day in the car most of the week and this bloody annoying rattle. Can't stand it anymore.
View 5 RepliesI have weird sound from the engine bay area when i accelerate. Some describe this sound as "pop rocks in a soda can", "rattling of metal washers" or "fast ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-". I read all the posts and apparently its the TSI engine's turbo's waste gate which is not replaceable because its riveted on to the turbo (FSI's turbo's waste gate was apparently bolted on) is responsible for the noise.
I thought something was loose in my engine bay. I thought it was just MY CAR, so I planned on mentioning it when i go in for my first oil change, but I ran into this thread and figured out that it is a widespread "annoyance" (not a "problem" because VW claims that this noise is "normal").
This noise comes in around 2400rpm~3000rpm on my car if you give it around 1/3 ~1/2 throttle. This noise can be replicated on my car on all the gears pretty much (i have DSG fyi) with the windows rolled up. (if you cant make it out, try rolling down the window)
The noise sounds horrible! (to me at least). It's like I am driving something that's put together poorly and it is also quite embarrassing when you have a passenger with you...
So when I bought one of my cars used I noticed a plastic rattle coming from the dash. Removed the dash sprayed some silicone and sealed with rubber and that fixed it. maybe 2 weeks ago another very annoying rattle developed which you can hear when the ICE start and you accelerate...and now you can hear it even when you are cruising on the hwy. I thought it is from the dash again but you will see that even without the dash it is still there.
View 13 RepliesI have a 2001 Subaru outback. Recently I've noticed a rattle when I accelerate, especially when I take off from a dead stop. I sounds like it's coming from the front wheel area. It also occurs sometimes when making a turn and then accelerate. It almost sounds like an object in a box and someone is shaking the box-very noticeable.
View 3 RepliesI have 2011 Sonata Limited 2.4L I have a rattle that seems to come from the engine compartment near/thru the dash/driver area. I am getting pretty good at replicating the issue. When I accelerate or decelerate thru 1500 - 1700 rpm the rattel/vibration happens. If I can continue to keep the same rpm level the rattle remains. It tends to be even more frequent when the AC is on. I have had the dealer look at 2-3 times and they cannot seem to remedy the problem.

When I accelerate from a stop there is a metallic rattling in the engine compartment. My best guess is that it is near the middle and near the firewall. Can't see much under the hood in this area.
The rattling stops after about 60km/h or so and does not happen at all during cruising otherwise.
I have a 1983 Toyota Tercel SR5. The car runs really well, however I have encountered a problem. When I accelerate there's this rattle-like sound that gets louder as I go faster. I was with my father and we had to speak louder to talk. He suggests that the noise is not in the engine but could be in the drivetrain. The noise is not changing with the engine RPM, just the car. It goes with the sound of the wheels; the faster I go, the sound gets louder. It sounds serious, but how? What are some of my options? Is it my drivetrain? Or my brakes?
View 4 RepliesNew wheels installed! They look great, but I have some shaking when I accelerate from 60 to say 90 mph! The hub centric rings are in place! Also before I installed the new wheels I hit a big pot hole and a had some low to medium howling noise coming from the front end! The hollowing is still present with the new wheels but I also have the shaking now!
View 5 RepliesHow come when I accelerate, my passat starts to vibrate? It happens at 40mph then at 70mph. usually when it's under load, like going up a hill or incline, or when i overtake someone. It feels like a rotory type vibration. I recently got new tires and waiting to get an alignment and wondered if the alignment could cause this. Also, the vibration has been there before the tire swap.
View 1 RepliesI've owned my passat 07 2.0t for 8 months now (less than 10k) and i've noticed a difference in performance.
I usually keep the car in D (instead of S) to save some gas. My car is taking an awful long time to accelerate, specially at the traffic lights. Much older cars and old drivers (grannys) pass me after the light turns to green (i'm always the last one to take off). The engine goes all to the way to 3k rpms making a loud noise (even with the windows up) as if it was @ redline. Eventually it catches up and the turbo kicks in and i can get a decent speed but it takes so much longer than before. I also noticed that while it's doing that i only get 5-6 mpg (according to the car's computer).
I have a low drone sound when accelerating, what this could be? Is the Water Pump going?
View 3 RepliesThe 2.8 V6 car sometimes hesitates when trying to accelerate. It even has what feel like 'misses' at idle. No codes except catalytic convertor below efficency bank 2. I suspect it could be a bad o2. I looked at vag com, 311-2 and found...
Group 32, Sen1 bank 1 oxygen sensor adpt.@idle 0.0%
Sen1 bank 1 oxygen sensor adpt.@par 0.8%
Sen1 bank 2 oxygen sensor adpt.@idle 0.8%
Sen1 bank 2 oxygen sensor adpt.@par 0.8%
Group 42 bank 2 50Kohm 0.10Kohm inner rest. Sensor 2
Group 41 bank 1 60Kohm 0.50Kohm inner rest. Sensor 2
What measuring blocks should I be looking at? Weird that the car is 'bogging' or 'hesitating' without a misfire being reported.
I have a 2006 VW Passat 2.0T with around 60,600 miles on it. Recently I had the CV axles replaced. Since then the front end vibrates whenever I accelerate. I took it to back to the mechanic and he said the engine mounts needed replaced. I am very skeptical of this diagnosis but am now stumped. (Also I had the tires balanced and rotated after the axles where replaced and the vibration is still there).
