View 13 RepliesCodes P0491 and P0492 ... The Air pump works, so what's the problem? Perhaps the combo valve? If so how do I check this?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 F-150 Lariat with a 3.55 Ratio axle. What does the Axle Code H9 mean?
View 2 RepliesI was told that these are affiliated to a problem with the air pump (not the one you pump the tire up with) -- Need to locate the air pump? Hoping to find a loose hose or something I can fix.
View 12 RepliesSo I've had the car since Saturday and this morning when I went out to run some errands I get a check light. The codes are P0491 and P0492 which I did a search and found out is the secondary air pump and relay.
A few sites I checked (but were for other VW's) said it might be a fuse. If it is the secondary air pump or relay or fuse where are they located so I can take a look? Can I also assume they are dealer only items?
I did not even drive the car 2 times since I bought it and the check engine light came on last night. Codes show P0491 and P0492. What can be the cause and what I should check or change?
We also had a monsoon of rain in NY on Wed. I found a puddle of water in the passenger foot carpet area. It was drenched. Glove box was dry and the seat was dry. Where can this water be coming from?? Could this have triggered my check engine?
The manual lists a ton of personalized settings that either you or the dealer can set. Problem is, I can't find in the manual where it describes how to set these personalized settings.
I found that you can set the smart door unlock so that it unlocks all doors instead of just the drivers side. It's pretty easy. You just get close to the car and hold lock and unlock down for about 5 seconds on your key fob. After 5 seconds you will hear two beeps. Two beeps means that all the doors unlock now when you use the smart door. Three beeps means only the drivers side door opens.
The bars are in the green most of the time. But now , I am finding 6 or 7 bars of green most of the time is not ideal after all? Purple is optimum?
Is there a scenario where a prius in the green too often indicates there is something off with the car or my driving style? Is the issue here that I am generating excessive HV battery heat?
I think I am a smooth driver, but I do use the pedal (and brake) to make minor adjustments in speed as I'm sure we all do. Cruise control?
I usually just drive it, and don't think looking at displays too often is a very good idea for safety. I check my mileage and battery health though, and was satisfied.
In the display (front of steering wheel) I got a "KEY" symbol yesterday. What it means?
View 3 RepliesI have a 1998 Explorer XLT V6 (4.0 SOHC) with an AC problem. The AC compressor will not turn on via normal means - turn to AC or AC Max, rotate temp to left. It hasn't been a problem as I never use the AC, but I'm fixing a few of the minor inconveniences (dash lamps, re-solder radio) and figured, why not look at the AC too.
A while back my mechanic said he used the Explorer to test his AC equipment and made sure the Freon was good. He said everything was working. I am assuming he was able to control the AC system from his tools under the hood. This tells me the system is good and the problem is related to the temperature control or a switch somewhere.
What this means Do you want to run a vehicle health report?
View 2 RepliesI am new to the web site and new to owning a Prius. Recently my wife and I bought a 2013 Prius two. I have a couple questions about the settings menu on the display. When you hit the set up button and then 'vehicle' it gives you a list of several items you can turn on or off. The first few are pretty easy to understand such as the doors unlocking at a certain speed or when shifting to or from park. But the others I've tried to search for what they mean and can't find anything. So my questions are:
1. What does 'Remote 2-Press Unlock' mean? And
2. What does 'Key System with Elec. Key' mean?
Well this car is getting ridiculous. i just got it back from the dealership 3 weeks ago from having them fix the car when the check engine light came on because some pressure valve that is supposedly in each cylinder or something was bad.
Well now, its on again. I took it to autozone but when the guy put his scanner on there, nothing came up. So when I started the car as the scanner was plugged in, he said it gave him the code P2243. He did not know what the code was. The engine light is now off and the guy did not clear the code. The car still rides normal.
My 2.0t threw a MIL with code P0441 about 24 hours after having the timing and all replaced. I replaced the N80 valve last week, but this did not make the light turn off.
I also have a hard time starting after filling up. What this might be?
Dealer says the "gas cap" code keeps coming up. Won't share the number with me.... I've tried two new OEM gas caps, fuel & air filter replacement. I keep paying to get it reset. It keeps coming back on. Clueless VW mechanics... What else it might be?
View 3 RepliesI have finally installed HID, but I tend to think they pointed too low, or it is just my imagination. Need to change the level after installing HID? Second and most important Question, the thing is that after removing the + from Battery, I have reset the settings now car shows trouble codes for g85 I guess the steering column. That it is not calibrated right, the code applies for ABS and 44-Steering Assist, I might have messed up the options, but I strongly believe it might be fixed without dealership. When the car starts it shows, ESP off and steering column yellow all the time.
View 6 RepliesWhat is a 7e8 and 7e9 code on a 06 passat 2.0t?? Check engine just came on..scanned it and got those.. I am lost.. What it means?
View 12 RepliesThe 1.8 passat turbo has 60k miles on it.
CEL is on, shop says it is code P0299 (I have read this code being called the "underboost" code). Local shop also wanted $1500++ to put on a new turbo. Car is driving and responding just fine.
I have searched high and low and can't find definitive answers to these questions.
I have read some posts indicating that replacing the Waste Gate Valve has improved performance and turned off the CEL. Can you replace this valve on the 1.8 without replacing the whole turbo?
Where is this valve in the engine compartment? Can I just clean it? CEL code 0299, car behaving normally, shop telling you that your need to replace the turbo?
I am having a misfire code on the #1 cylinder. Its not bad but I really want to nip it in the butt before it goes out completely. I was told to try and get some of the older style coilpacks that bolt on and go with them. Can I put them on my 03 passat 1.8t.
View 2 RepliesWhile on business travel, my wife's 2003 1.8T Passat wagon had the MIL illuminate. I had her pull the OBD2 code while I was away, and it came up with P0420. I have been reading up on it, but I have found much in the way of troubleshooting this code. I don't want to just start randomly replacing parts until the light goes away. When I get back I am going to look for exhaust leaks, but barring those what else can be looked for.
